Daycycle 101 [ July 31 - August 6 ]
daycycle 101
[July 31 - Aug 6]
Early Morning [0800 - 0900] — All Troubleshooters Report for Duty
Adam Parrish and Matt Murdock, have been selected for today’s mission. Details are below:
"We’ve repainted this antique autocar for its VIOLET owner, and we need someone to drive it back to its owner’s compound. Take one of these single-use brevet badges to demonstrate you’re authorized to use such high-clearance equipment. Whatever you do, don’t lose your badge! And whatever happens, don’t get into an accident! If you so much as scratch the paint job....
Maybe don't let the blind guy drive."
Please debrief the computer on the status of your mission by the end of the Daycycle here.
Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600] — Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.
Evening [1600 - 2200] — Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.
Tonight’s event will be at 1800 in Field A, Armed Forces Sector and will be hosted by the Extra Calisthenics Volunteer Group. Join ECV for a four hour boot camp designed to get you in peak physical shape or kill you trying!
Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.
Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.
Open - Felicity Smoak at the Morning Briefing!
If she now lived in a world of clones, they were not friendly clones.
Just yesterday, she was in a car with Oliver, leaving Starling City and embarking on their own, private bliss. For once in his life, Oliver had been happy and she'd been there to see it. Was it even possible that those memories were a glitch?
Or perhaps more importantly, now, standing here in a world she doesn't know filled with complete strangers, would it all be easier to accept if Felicity just believed that those memories were a beautiful dream?
Felicity & Lydia
So she heads to the morning debriefing just like she always does and, while she's scanning the YELLOWs in the room, admittedly looking for Matt, she can't help noticing a RED who looks especially...well. Lost.
Something about that suggests that she could be a Special. Usually, the Specials start at RED and they skip the INFRARED category, which would explain why this poor woman looks so confused and not just plain bored out of her damn mind. She's still skittish about people — especially Alphas that she doesn't know — but Gucci's warning system isn't buzzing on her PDA, so she assumes that this woman isn't a threat to her. Root has made Gucci more than just a pet — Lydia's a dog person and she'd been completely prepared to beg Root pathetically until her roommate gave in; luckily, she didn't have to — and now, even though he's a robot, even when he's not with her, she feels so much safer. She's trying to keep pushing past the attack. Sometimes she still gets twitchy.
But her gut says that this is a safe conversation to start.
"...you look lost..." she points out gently to the woman, a kind smile on her face as she tucks her hair behind her ears. "You okay?"

"I'm sorry. It's just- It's my first day, and I really don't have any idea where I'm going. Am I-" She sighs. "Please tell me I'm in the right place right now."

She scrapes one hand through her hair and glances over to Felicity. "This isn't where I'm supposed to be. I'm guessing it's not where you're supposed to be either."
More correctly, it's not where Buffy remembers being nor is it where she wants to be.

Throughout the day; OTA
The last thing Barry remembered was setting off through time to stop the murder that he had failed to stop not once, but twice. He knew what Joe, Iris, Caitlin and Cisco would tell him if he were to actually say out loud what he needed. Grief over his father had left him hollowed out and empty. Whatever part of him that had thought he might be able to live with his mother's death, had died the night he'd lost his father too.
And then he'd woken up on a table in the Cloning facility and had bee told that his memomax had been upgraded with his new promotion to ORANGE clearance. Maybe it was because he could still feel the ache in his chest, or the hollowness in his bones, but he knew that Zoom and the things he'd done hadn't been a glitch. Somewhere out there, it was a very real reality.
And there was only one way to fix it.
He survives the workday, miraculously without breaking every item of equipment out of sheer frustration. He makes a bee line for the Specials Headquarters the moment he's free, being careful that he's not being followed before turning down an alley in the final subsection.

In the Specials' HQ, Barry will find Root doing some tinkering on Gucci, her back to the door. The little guy is open but operational, and his little robot tail gives a wag at one of his favorite Specials' returns.
"Running through the halls again? You should really work on some strength training, you know. Cardio only gets you so far..."

Throughout the day [ Open and Closed options]
Quite frankly, Matt is surprised to be chosen for a mission that requires driving. It's a skill, for obvious reasons, that he's never learned. He supposes that he's actually there to supervise. No matter, he hasn't formally met his mission partner and he's looking forward to having time to do that. He's been trying to get to know all of the specials in the complex so that he can work within (and sometimes outside) of the system to help them.
He arrives early for their mission dressed in his yellow jumpsuit. His sunglasses are on his face and his hands are in his pockets and he's listening for Adam's arrival. His senses still aren't as good as they once were, but they're better than most humans, with the exception of his sight, of course.
[ Afternoon - Open ]
Once the mission is done, Matt goes to lunch as usual then goes to his office to dictate notes about the mission and Adam Parrish. Of course, he can't be honest about anything in his dictation, but he manages to put some vague bits and pieces in there that will jog his memory. He keeps his office door open so that anyone who needs him will feel comfortable just walking in. He's settling into this place whether he wants to or not. He's developing friendships and relationships and doing more than surviving, which isn't something he'd thought he'd do when he'd first arrived.
[ Evening - Open ]
When enrichment starts, Matt is there. He knows that he's got to stay in shape here and more so than ever without his abilities. Besides, it's another way to stock points with the computer and Matt knows that he needs all the good cred he can get for that moment when he gets caught going against the computer. The boot camp is challenging enough that Matt is tired and sweaty when it's over, but it's also obvious that he's in good physical shape. He's graceful and capable. He's happy enough to help out anyone who's struggling and he's friendly, chit-chatting between sets, that sort of thing.
Matt & Lydia - Evening
She does go, though. Mostly, to watch Matt. Back home and even in this place, it seems like people just leave her, but Matt's a silver lining. He makes her feel better about being here. He makes her feel like she matters. He's a part of the reason she's settled and started trying to play the game instead of going through the motions just to get by with the hope that someday she'll magically be back home just like someday she "magically" woke up here.
It's endearing to watching him help the others and it's almost enough to join in.
...okay, it is enough. If he trusts it enough to reinforce it by semi-instructing, then she should trust it enough to try.
She's careful when she makes her way through the group to get closer to him and she grins a little when he finishes working with another Alpha and starts to turn away to go back to his own set. "Hey there, handsome. Think you could teach me a thing or two?" She knows he can't see her but he'll know that it's her. The rest of his senses are sort of uncanny; Lydia supposes it really is true that losing one sense can amplify those remaining. She'd always thought that was a myth before she met Matt.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, right? Right.
He slows even more, approaching the guy who looks like he might have been directed to the kids table when he's a fully grown adult. Great. "Uhm. Hey. I'm Adam. Parrish. Are you Matt?"

He's certainly not going to the enrichment. Instead, he's going to take advantage of what he hopes is some quiet and explore the complex some more. He can be found in all kinds of places that he probably shouldn't be, but aren't strictly forbidden.
Evening
The halls are walkways and rooms are never without people in them, but suddenly, she thinks she sees someone familiar down the hall. There's just a moment, when Ronan's facing just the right way and she gets a flash of his face, right before he turns the corner. Felicity stops in her tracks. "Roy?" she mumbles, quietly to herself. Her steps quicken as she tries to follow him in the Complex, but it was only her first day and she had no idea where she was or where she was going.
Soon, there was no trace of Roy anywhere and she was completely lost.
Had she even seen him to begin with?
[ ooc: I was originally setting this up for a Day 2 encounter, since it might be too much to process on her first day. BUT, as I wrote this, I realized there's some good opportunity for her to get into trouble and wander into a shadier part of the complex...so, I shall leave it up to you! I'm happy to have them just have glimpses of each other here, or to keep threading! ]

When he sees Ronan try to go off on his own, Adam catches up to him and taps his knuckles against Ronan's arm. "Trying to sneak off without me? Haven't we already had a whole day without each other?" It might sound needy, but Adam doesn't like going too long without seeing Ronan.

At meal times, she'll pick someone to sit with because that's how one figures out what's going on and when it comes to enrichment, she actually goes. That's when she notices that all of her slayer abilities are gone. It sends her reeling and looking for a way out, a place to hide and process. She slips out of the armory looking stunned, vulnerable and very scared. The last time she was helpless like this she'd been drugged so that's immediately where her mind goes. Once she's had some time to think about it, she'll be angry but that won't happen until she wanders around a little, gets lost and eventually makes it back to her room.

She had been there only months before.
Which was probably why when the new blonde girl slipped out Morgana followed her thirty seconds later.
In Camelot she might have stalked after her, curious and quiet but everything was different at the complex so instead she walked up beside the girl, a smile on her face knowing all too well some of the cameras still worked out here.
'You should smile.' she whispered, her own smile not faltering as she walked. 'Get too upset and then there's drugs you probably won't have a choice in taking.' It was no threat, just the truth. Their friend the computer would be sure of that if it got a whiff of any true discontent that might lead to treason.
'I'm Morgana.'

Cisco, Felicity, and Barry | Afternoon
He's antsy when the clock is ticking too slowly but when it's finally time for lunch, Cisco bolts to the mess hall, waiting outside the door, eyes peeled for his friends. It's hard to tell if he'll be able to pick them out in a sea of colorful jumpsuits when all he's got to go on are familiar faces in a crowd of too many, but he's looking, that's for sure.
Cisco -> Felicity -> Barry sounds like a good order!
Okay, indisputably, she didn't exactly act like a badass in the Troubleshooter Briefing this morning, but all of that changed when she got to her computer work station at 0900. She'd gone through orientation within the first ten minutes, leaving every other transfer or new trainee behind in the dust. So she may have used her extra time to poke around a little, just to see what kind of access she had at her new job.
But nothing was better than seeing Cisco and Barry on the network around 10:45. Their existence as real people proved beyond a doubt that her memories were real, and at a time in which everything felt so confusing, Felicity wanted nothing more than to be near people she knew and trusted.
She gets to the Commissary half a minute after Cisco, looking for his dark hair amidst the sea of mostly RED and ORANGE jumpsuits. When she spots him, she starts running towards him immediately, weaving in and around the other Troubleshooters.
Sounds good!

Steve, Root and Lydia | Late Afternoon | Green Housing 1401
When they get here, Steve will let them both in.
The basket itself will still be wrapped in plastic to prevent its contents from rolling out, but it will be prominently the only thing of note on the dining table. Steve had just been promoted to GREEN a few days ago, which he suspects Root also had a good hand in, but meanwhile, he's only just getting used to his private, one-bedroom apartment. He doesn't own much more than he did when he was a RED, which means that while he has a lot more space, it's quite empty.
The only adjustments he's made to the rooms, or more accurately asked someone to make, is tampering with the video surveillance systems.
no subject
But Steve's been there for Lydia — she hadn't even known him that well when he'd been the first person to visit her in the hospital after her attack. Not to mention the way he'd saved her life in the stampede at the parade by dragging her up to her feet when she couldn't quite manage it alone — so she can suck it up and make her way to the GREEN floor without being a baby about it. He never asks her for anything, she's not going to give him a reason to perpetuate that by backing out the first time he does. Besides, she trusts Root's programming so that she can't be properly tracked to a GREEN floor and she trusts Steve not to invite them up rather than meeting in HQ, if there was a possibility that they could get caught on their way.
She isn't sure whether she gets there first or second, but she comes right up at lunch and knocks on the door, letting out a tiny gasp of surprise and a low groan of envy when he lets her in and she notices the basket. Real food. Steve gets it and it's cool that he shares, but God, what she wouldn't give to have real food with the same consistency that he does, without him having to share. "You got a secret admirer or something, sweetie?"

When Blue wakes up this morning, those memories feel like a million miles away. Almost like another life. And that bothers her. She's been here before. Blue has a job (managing sewage water quality) and a couple of altered uniforms; a failing attempt at individual in a place where uniformity seems to drives everything. But she's clinging to those other memories and that makes her grumpy.
Why should she bother doing anything the computer asks of her? Why is she even here? She should be in Tennessee, shouldn't she? So rather than go about her duties, Blue ignores them. Instead, she explores as much of Alpha Complex as possible. If this is home, shouldn't something be familiar?
no subject
Of course, he shows said enthusiasm in a typical Ronan manner.
"Maggot! I didn't realize this piss hole was on your itinerary."
He remembers that she was here, of course, but he also remembers everything that happened at home. He can't help but follow up his greeting with something that he knows is going to hurt them both.
"Didn't happen to bring Dad with you, did you?"

She runs into Blue in a nondescript hallway somewhere around the wagon wheel. At this point she's already stopped several people and spoken to them. Some of them were like her and others were natives here. The natives haven't been so friendly. "Hey, hi," Buffy says as a means to stop Blue and initiate a conversation. "I'm new here and I've got to say the accommodations aren't getting more than like...two stars from me. Any chance you've got any idea what's going on here?"
Honestly, she's hoping that Blue can tell her something new, something more hopeful than everyone else has.

But exploring Alpha Complex as a newly arrived RED Special, alone? That was dangerous.
Steve keeps an eye out for new arrivals, especially Specials, each morning at the morning briefing. After months of nothing, he was astonished to see not one, but multiple new faces. So many in fact, that there was no way he was going to get the chance to speak to them all before order was called; and despite his GREEN status, while he didn't want to make their late for their assignments on their first date. Technically, it would be excused, but it was an easy way for them to get picked on by their superiors, regardless.
So when he catches sight of Blue again, this time a little later in the evening, he makes his way over to her.
"M'am, my name is Steve Rogers — am I right in guessing that this is your first day here?" Everything about his tone of voice and his facial expression was aimed at making her feel comfortable, which should be a stark contrast from anyone else who's spoken to her wearing a non-RED or ORANGE uniform.

Rome, in this case, being the hidden speakeasy he had come to spent most of his free time in ever since he'd got it set up.
There was a roped off VIP area towards the back of the large main room and that was where he spent most of his time, lounging with a glass of wine and inviting high fliers to join him so he could ensure they received top notch hospitality from his staff. The VIP area is also open to specials, but only if you stay on Maecenas' good side.
Throughout the day | OTA
She spends the day documenting, mentally, everything that she can find, going along with things has always been easier until she has an opportunity to take things in her own direction, and she's good at spotting those moments the envelope can be pushed, it's just that everything is so new here she has no idea what to make of it, exactly. She's a scientist, she'll form a conclusion once more data has become available.
