Daycycle 101 [ July 31 - August 6 ]

daycycle 101

[July 31 - Aug 6]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty
Adam Parrish and Matt Murdock, have been selected for today’s mission. Details are below:

"We’ve repainted this antique autocar for its VIOLET owner, and we need someone to drive it back to its owner’s compound. Take one of these single-use brevet badges to demonstrate you’re authorized to use such high-clearance equipment. Whatever you do, don’t lose your badge! And whatever happens, don’t get into an accident! If you so much as scratch the paint job....

Maybe don't let the blind guy drive."

Please debrief the computer on the status of your mission by the end of the Daycycle here.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1800 in Field A, Armed Forces Sector and will be hosted by the Extra Calisthenics Volunteer Group. Join ECV for a four hour boot camp designed to get you in peak physical shape or kill you trying!

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Felicity & Lydia

It feels like she's been here forever, but that's probably because every day feels exactly the same. With the exception of the few little tweaks after having been promoted for turning in that bitch from the A.S.S., Lydia doesn't feel like there's much about this place that's changed for her at all. She's closer with some of the other Specials. Ray is gone and she misses him terribly, and the same goes for Allison and Tony. But for the most part, she's on autopilot until after work hours. That's when she really feels like herself.

So she heads to the morning debriefing just like she always does and, while she's scanning the YELLOWs in the room, admittedly looking for Matt, she can't help noticing a RED who looks especially...well. Lost.

Something about that suggests that she could be a Special. Usually, the Specials start at RED and they skip the INFRARED category, which would explain why this poor woman looks so confused and not just plain bored out of her damn mind. She's still skittish about people — especially Alphas that she doesn't know — but Gucci's warning system isn't buzzing on her PDA, so she assumes that this woman isn't a threat to her. Root has made Gucci more than just a pet — Lydia's a dog person and she'd been completely prepared to beg Root pathetically until her roommate gave in; luckily, she didn't have to — and now, even though he's a robot, even when he's not with her, she feels so much safer. She's trying to keep pushing past the attack. Sometimes she still gets twitchy.

But her gut says that this is a safe conversation to start.

"...you look lost..." she points out gently to the woman, a kind smile on her face as she tucks her hair behind her ears. "You okay?"

Of course I look as lost as I feel. In fact, I look so lost that someone nice needed to take pity on me and come ask if I'm okay. But the redhead standing in front of her now really did look like a nice person.

"I'm sorry. It's just- It's my first day, and I really don't have any idea where I'm going. Am I-" She sighs. "Please tell me I'm in the right place right now."

Lydia gives the woman a kind smile. She remembers that feeling all too well. Admittedly, Lydia likes to think that she handled it with a little more grace, but that doesn't mean she can't identify with the other woman.

"You're fine, you're in the right place," Lydia assures her. "I'm Lydia. Here, follow me, I'll show you."

Lydia's not entirely sure whether she can stay with this woman, but she can at least show her where she needs to be. If anyone's figured out the safe little hiding spots in the room where one can blend in and hear everything while not calling attention to one's self, it's Lydia, and she has a feeling that'd be a welcome sort of situation for this woman. She seems nervous. Lydia knows that feeling, too.

Of all the things Felicity is, graceful isn't quite near the top of the list. At least someone hasn't stolen her lunch money yet. That was a good sign.

Did they even have lunch money here?

When Lydia shows her a little nook against one of the walls, Felicity smiles in gratitude. "Hey. I'm Felicity by the way." She can already tell why it feels so nice here. Not only was one side only wall, there's was a pillar between it and the main stage, making it a partial view. It gave anyone standing here a little cover. "And thank you."

"Nice to meet you, Felicity," Lydia replies warmly. It's easier to be in a good mood after a promotion. There's things and people she's been missing like mad, but between Gucci, Matt, and the upgrade to ORANGE, things aren't so bad. ...they're not good, but they're not awful. They've been worse. A lot worse.

Lydia leans against the pillar and gives a little shrug of her shoulders. "I liked to be in this little corner after..." her voice trails off and she pauses. "It's just kind of nice to have a place to sort of hide, a little, sometimes."

She nods. She's been here less than 48 hours and she already knows that feeling. "Especially in a place where it seems like someone is always watching."

What's ironic is that that had been her job. And Felicity was just dying to get her hands on a computer here. She would have hacked her PDC already, but she wasn't sure if there were any failsafes she didn't know about — and she needed more computing power to figure that one out.

It isn't long then, until they hear a temporary screech of the microphone and someone walks up to the stage to give out the day's orders.

Lydia huffs a humorless laugh and lifts her eyebrows. "Oh honey, there's no seems like about it. They are. They're always watching." She might as well be honest. There's no use letting this woman think that there's an illusion of Big Brother when the reality is it isn't an illusion at all.

Someone steps up to start the morning debriefing and Lydia gives the woman a little smile. "Anyway, I'm gonna go get settled in, but you're welcome to steal my hiding spot now and again. Hope you have a good day," she offers and while she does genuinely mean that, she doubts that it'll happen. This place doesn't really do good days.
smoak: (i told you so)

the end!

[personal profile] smoak 2016-08-07 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
She appreciates the honesty. Knowing what she's up against is going to help her in the long run and for the rest of the day.

"Thanks Lydia. You too."

Thanks doesn't fully cut it, but it's the best she can do at the moment, because Big Brother's lackey was already speaking. Someone named Matt Murdoch and Adam Parrish were assigned on some driving mission. Felicity was just glad her name wasn't called until they asked new Troubleshooters to come look up their assigned stations.
