Daycycle 116 [ November 13 - November 26 ]

daycycle 116

[Nov 13 - Nov 26]

[OOC Plotting for this Daycycle can be found here.]
[The Charity Ball Entertainment post is here.]
[This DC has been extended through 11/26.]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Special Troubleshooters have been selected for a mission this morning.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

Matt Murdock's office will be assigned to defend the most recent Specials accused of treason. He will not be allowed to contact the traitors directly, but he will be given the task of preparing his cases. He has 48 hours to prepare.

Jack Harkness has been selected to plan the entertainment for tonight's Charity Ball, thanks to the popularity of his performances during the Alpha Talent Show a few days ago. When he asks The Computer for help, several specials are assigned to him. Izzy Lightwood will be his event planning assistant and "Stiles" Stilinski will assist in MCing the night's event. Due to their popularity, all Specials will be approached about being auctioned off for dances in order to help raise money by Jack, Izzy and Stiles. They will also be asked if they're willing to take part in specially planned choreographed dances. Dance lessons will be provided for those that require them during the afternoon hours.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will begin at 1800 at the Alpha Museum of Fine Art and will be hosted by The Humanists Alpha Society for the Arts. Tickets to the event are 1000cr and can be bought up until an hour before the event begins. Attendees have been given special permission to wear Old Reckoning clothing for this event only, as long as it is the same color as their clearance level. Specials may notice that many of the Alpha Citizen's outfits have gotten key parts of Old Reckoning clothing wrong, with buttons instead of sequins, for example, or men wearing ties that are much too long and go to their knees. Alpha's Very Special Forces will be present to ensure the safety of those attending.

An entire wing of the museum has been cleared as a makeshift dance floor. In an attached room there are several tables covered in white tablecloths and set with the crystal and china that usually only graces Violet citizen tables. Along the wall is a massive buffet made with real food and including an elaborate ice sculpture. There is a bar in the corner where Alpha's finest spirits are being disbursed freely. For the first hour, the focus is on the food and mingling. The music playing is calming and instrumental. There are some that steal the dancefloor for a slow spin, but the majority of the attendees seem reluctant to move away from the buffet.

And then at approximately 1900, Jack Harkness will take the stage and begin the evening's real entertainment.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Cisco smiles at her returned compliment. "Yeah, I clean up all right, don't I?" he asks, amused. It isn't often Cisco can be bothered to put any more effort into his looks than running a brush through his hair or a razor over his stubble will accomplish, but for something like this, well. It's for a good cause. He worked in that section of R&D. He nearly died in that section of R&D.

Cisco knows people who got out of it in one piece, people who didn't make it out at all, and everything in between. Most of the Specials, to Cisco's knowledge, sort of segregate themselves from the other Alphas in the Complex. After the mission he and Stiles had been given to protect Gabi, Cisco's looked at this place as an Us vs. Them just like the rest of the Specials, but his focus of "Them" has shifted away from other Alphas at large to The Computer itself. It doesn't even extend to the Computer's supporters or the rebels against it.

To Cisco, the reason that there are so many terrorist attacks is because the people who feel so vehemently ignored by the Computer want so badly to be heard that they've lost their cool and are being loud in all the wrong ways. It isn't entirely their fault, in Cisco's opinion. Alphas are all together in this and the Computer is the one they should be fighting. It just seems like most other people have taken a different stance.

Cisco is here tonight with bells on and it's because he believes that The Complex can be a good place to live, someday, if they put their focus and efforts in the right place. Right now, that's not happening in a general sense, but this Charity Ball is a good sign that things have the opportunity to shift in a more peaceful direction and if some Alphas are looking at the Specials to endorse that in order to agree and follow suit moving forward, then Cisco is more than happy to be a voice in the positive end of the spectrum. If dressing up and showing up and spending some of his time tonight with strangers who inexplicably find his time valuable enough to pay for is all he has to do to make that happen, then Cisco is one hundred percent in it to win it.

He holds a hand out to Gracie and smiles. "May I have a dance with the most beautiful Alpha in the whole Complex?" he asks, looking pointedly at her so that she can't mistake that compliment for anything other than what it actually is.
dorkify: (Love you)

"More than all right," she assures him. She reaches up to run a hand over his shoulder, brushing an imaginary piece of lint off his suit. Gracie is here for the same reason. She remembers how awful Cisco looked lying in that bed, how awful Tony looked. She reported on the incident. It's an important cause.

Gracie doesn't know any of the alphas by name, but she's taken to chit chatting with them in the hallways, to waving and saying hello as they pass. She knows that there's a Special Alpha divide, but Gracie doesn't look at it that way either. They're all stuck here and just because the alphas don't have any memory of a different life doesn't mean they're any less. The Computer is the enemy here. The Computer is the one that puts these ridiculous rules on them.

Gracie wants this place to be better and she believes it can be better as well. She's got no idea of where efforts should be put, but she does think that this is a start. This is fun and she thinks it's a good start to improving relationships between Alphas and Specials. It's the same reason that she's signed up for the auction. Besides that, she likes meeting people and she doesn't care if they're alphas or specials.

The compliment doesn't go unnoticed. It makes her cheeks flush a little and at this rate, her smile is never going to leave her face. She takes his hand. "Are you kidding? Like anyone would turn down a chance to dance with the most handsome guy here."

She's giddy from all of this. Really.

Cisco's own cheeks warm with Gracie's response and he smiles, ducking his head for a second before clearing his throat and looking back up again. "Well, then who am I to make you wait?" he asks. Her hand in his, Cisco leads her further into the room, onto the dance floor and quite frankly. he has no idea how to dance like this. Like anything other than a drunken spaz because that's about the only time he ever does dance.

So he sort of surreptitiously looks around the room and tries to mirror what he sees, keeping her one hand in his and putting his other hand on her waist. It feels all kind of unnatural and too classy for Cisco, but he's also not looking to make himself look like an idiot on the first date with Gracie.

"I'm glad you said you'd come with me and thanks for being cool about me actually bringing my roommate first," he says with a small smile.
dorkify: (You're pretty cute)

[personal profile] dorkify 2016-11-17 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that blush is nice on him. Honestly, every time she thinks she can't smile any harder, he proves her wrong. Gracie really only knows how to dance like a spaz or like a freshman at a school dance.

The whole thing feels kind of unnatural and stiff to Gracie as well. After a moment, she moves closer to him and slides her hand to the nap of Cisco's neck. It's a little closer to what she's accustomed to and she relaxes a little because of it. She's okay with just swaying and being close to each other.

"I'm so glad you asked and I think it was sweet of you to bring your roommate. I haven't met her, but everyone deserves to come here and have fun." She ducks her head a little. They haven't talked much about this, at least not in person. "I was afraid, after the thing with the coffee, you wouldn't want to see me again."

The conversation they'd had via the PDCs had made her worry a lot less, but it was him asking her to this ball that really made her feel better about the whole thing.

Glad to find that he and Gracie seem to be of like minds in this vein, Cisco relaxes, too. They might not look as classy as everyone else, but does it really matter? He's having fun, she seems to be having fun; they're getting to be close to one another. That's all good enough for Cisco.

Cisco moves a hand to lift Gracie's chin again when she ducks her head. "Hey...I was afraid of that, too, but you know what? That stupid ass coffee is the best thing that's happened to me in a long time."

He might as well be completely honest with her. Cisco hasn't had a lot of great things going on, whether here or back home. Gracie is like a breath of fresh air; a reminder that even in the worst of times, there's good to be found if you just know where to look for it.
dorkify: (Bliss [almost kiss])

Classy doesn't matter much to Gracie either. Dancing is about having fun and she is having fun. That's really her only goal for the night.

She looks up at him, eyes wide, that smile tugging at the corners of her lips again. Right now, in this moment, what she really wants is to kiss him. She hesitates, watching him a moment before she leans in, her lips brushing his softly, lightly. He's the best thing to happen to her in a long time as well.

She's not thinking about how they're in public and being watched by Alphas. How kissing him could be a statement he's not willing to make yet, or how he might not want to be a spectacle.

The way that Gracie looks up at him gives Cisco a surge of relief. They're entirely on the same page and that's validating in a way that's hard to explain. Cisco's a lot of big talk, but he's never actually been very good with the ladies. Gracie is sweet and funny and gorgeous. He couldn't ask for a better first time to knock it out of the park.

When she starts to lean in, Cisco meets her halfway and even though the initial kiss is pretty chaste, it's enough to embolden him a little. Cisco decides to initiate another one, drawing her a little bit closer and kissing her again. Cisco's lips part slightly to deepen it and he forgets for a moment that they aren't alone; that there's a whole room full of people that could be watching them.
dorkify: (Come give me a hug)

[personal profile] dorkify 2016-11-26 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
She totally gets it. She feels the same way when Cisco looks at her like she's the best thing in this place. She'd been so afraid that the drugged coffee would negatively impact whatever sort of relationship they had, but she couldn't ask for a better start, a better first date or a better night, and this one has just started.

She'd wanted to give him the chance to pull away and take things slower. That deeper kiss is the best sort of reaction that she could have asked for. When he pulls her in closer, she slides her hand up into his hair at the back of his neck, wrapping him up in the kiss, in her. She opens her mouth to him, completely forgetting they're in a public place. She's not sure that she would care even if she did remember. Right now, she wants to be wrapped up in Cisco this way.
