Daycycle 116 [ November 13 - November 26 ]
daycycle 116
[Nov 13 - Nov 26]
[OOC Plotting for this Daycycle can be found here.]
[The Charity Ball Entertainment post is here.]
[This DC has been extended through 11/26.]
Early Morning [0800 - 0900] — All Troubleshooters Report for Duty
No Special Troubleshooters have been selected for a mission this morning.
Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600] — Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.
Matt Murdock's office will be assigned to defend the most recent Specials accused of treason. He will not be allowed to contact the traitors directly, but he will be given the task of preparing his cases. He has 48 hours to prepare.
Jack Harkness has been selected to plan the entertainment for tonight's Charity Ball, thanks to the popularity of his performances during the Alpha Talent Show a few days ago. When he asks The Computer for help, several specials are assigned to him. Izzy Lightwood will be his event planning assistant and "Stiles" Stilinski will assist in MCing the night's event. Due to their popularity, all Specials will be approached about being auctioned off for dances in order to help raise money by Jack, Izzy and Stiles. They will also be asked if they're willing to take part in specially planned choreographed dances. Dance lessons will be provided for those that require them during the afternoon hours.
Evening [1600 - 2200] — Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.
Tonight’s event will begin at 1800 at the Alpha Museum of Fine Art and will be hosted by The Humanists Alpha Society for the Arts. Tickets to the event are 1000cr and can be bought up until an hour before the event begins. Attendees have been given special permission to wear Old Reckoning clothing for this event only, as long as it is the same color as their clearance level. Specials may notice that many of the Alpha Citizen's outfits have gotten key parts of Old Reckoning clothing wrong, with buttons instead of sequins, for example, or men wearing ties that are much too long and go to their knees. Alpha's Very Special Forces will be present to ensure the safety of those attending.
An entire wing of the museum has been cleared as a makeshift dance floor. In an attached room there are several tables covered in white tablecloths and set with the crystal and china that usually only graces Violet citizen tables. Along the wall is a massive buffet made with real food and including an elaborate ice sculpture. There is a bar in the corner where Alpha's finest spirits are being disbursed freely. For the first hour, the focus is on the food and mingling. The music playing is calming and instrumental. There are some that steal the dancefloor for a slow spin, but the majority of the attendees seem reluctant to move away from the buffet.
And then at approximately 1900, Jack Harkness will take the stage and begin the evening's real entertainment.
Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.
Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.
adam parrish | ota - (and possibly Ronan too)
He grabs a late lunch and eats it on his way back to his apartments to take a shower and get ready for the charity ball, which Ronan of all people has convinced him they should go to. It's something good, Ronan has said. It's something normal, Ronan has said. And given the advice of Parker, that crowds of people are safe, Adam is inclined to go of his own accord as well.
The attire for the night for Adam is simple. Adam isn't one for overdressing. He doesn't much care for suits. And about an hour into the charity ball his necktie will be loosened and the top button of his dress shirt unbuttoned to give his neck room to breathe. The cuts on his face are healing, the bruises a strange purple-yellowish color now. He'll be close to Ronan at all times, not quite ready to be on his own yet. However, there will be times when Ronan is distracted by beer or food that people can get Adam alone. Otherwise, be prepared for both boys being together.

"This is better than some weird fucking puppet show," Ronan says as he watches people filter in and mingle around the room. He's wary and defensive, but he's sipping at a glass of something alcoholic so that'll help him relax a little.
no subject
Ronan looks so good tonight that Adam is having a hard time not looking at him. It feels like forever since he's seen Ronan in anything but the jumpsuit. Adam's going to soak it up. He lets Ronan hold onto his wrist or touch him however and when Ronan isn't, Adam returns the favor. They're together. And now, in this big a group of people, he guesses everyone is going to know that. There's a ping of fear of repercussion over that knowledge, but he quickly pushes that away.
"Yeah, the attire alone." He says. "I like it." Meaning, he likes how Ronan looks tonight. It was a roundabout compliment, of course, in a very Adam and Ronan way.
no subject
Ronan feels Adam's eyes on him and he likes it. It's not that Adam doesn't look at him, but Ronan is usually the one with his eyes resting on Adam. It's nice to have the tables turned. He hadn't been certain how Adam would handle being together in such a public venue. Of course, after they'd clung to each other at the scale model show, maybe he should be less thrilled by the way Adam touches him without any regard to what others thing, but the truth is being touched by Adam will never be anything less than thrilling.
The compliment gets a smirk out of Ronan and he rakes his eyes over Adam, finally returning his gaze to Adam's eyes. "Fucking hell yeah."
Compliment returned.
no subject
Adam takes that compliment for what it is. It makes his stomach feel a little fizzy even though he's had nothing to drink. Ronan always does this to him though. And Adam likes it.
It's strange to be in a place where Alphas and Specials are mingling. Adam has never been in a situation like this and he's finding that seeing the Alphas is interesting. The way they ogle the Specials is also interesting. When one of them looks Ronan's way, he looks over to his boyfriend. "We should go have food." Just standing here feels like they're asking for trouble. They have to at least act like they're a part of this thing or the whole reasoning behind Parker's instructions is null and void. Blend in.
no subject
Adam does the same thing to him, but it's manifested as Ronan's ego exploding, as Ronan being more confident than ever and it's not one bit a facade when Adam compliments him.
Ronan isn't oblivious to the eyes on he and Adam, but he doesn't care. He doesn't let them bother him. When Adam suggests food, Ronan nods. "Yeah, I'm starving and it's real fucking food."
Which is clearly awesome.
no subject
The real food is definitely a perk to coming to this thing, even if Adam's true intentions have been less than noble. He isn't so selfish or worried about his and Ronan's safety to not want Ronan to enjoy himself in this little bubble of normality - or as close to normal as they can get right now in the moment. Nothing here is actually normal.
They make it to the food table and Adam fills a small plate of food for them to share - cookies and cakes and crackers and cubes of meats. Real food. They move off to the side and Adam will hold the plate since Ronan has a beer already. They can share.
As he takes a bite of a cookie, some special confection that almost melts in his mouth, Adam looks around the large room. "At least we're not being auctioned off. That's a positive."
no subject
It doesn't matter to Ronan why Adam came here. He just wanted a nice time with his boyfriend. He wanted to eat real food and have fun.
He's okay with sharing a plate with Adam. He'll share his beer.
Ronan reaches for a small cake and takes a bite of half of it then puts it back. It's delicious. "Yeah, that's bullshit. Some guy came around asking about that. It's supposed to be for some good cause."
no subject
Still, it's admittedly nice to wear something other than the jumper and to eat real food and drink real drink and generally feel a sense of normalcy. Although it also, to Adam, seems to magnify the basic freedoms that the Computer has stripped from them.
"So I was thinking..." He says, picking a cookie off the plate and taking a small bite of it. "Maybe you could... teach me to fight."
no subject
So far, it's been a good night and Ronan is enjoying it. Adam isn't wrong about the way it magnifies those basic freedoms though.
Adam's question takes him by surprise, though after everything he's been through, it shouldn't. He nods a little at Adam's suggestion. "Yeah. Hell yeah. I'll teach you." He probably should have offered earlier, but he'd thought he could be there to protect Adam. It's abundantly clear that he can't.
no subject
Really, it says a lot that Adam even asked Ronan. It shows how much he trusts him, given his background with violence. And when Parker mentioned that he should learn self defense, Ronan is the first person he thought of, naturally.
"I couldn't learn from anyone but you." He admits. "But I have to tell you, I'm not gonna be an easy student." For every reason that Ronan already knows. Adam shies away when punches are thrown his way. And Adam can't imagine throwing a punch himself, that was beaten out of him a long time ago. But maybe it can be undone, just a little at a time.
no subject
He knows how much it says about how Adam feels about him, and it means a lot to Ronan that Adam would ask. He would be hurt if Adam had gone to anyone else first.
"Yeah, 'cause I'm such a fan of taking the easy way on things," Ronan smirks. He can imagine that Adam won't be easy to teach, not this, but he'll try anyway. He hopes that some of the damage Robert Parrish did can be undone a little at a time.
no subject
Adam takes Ronan's beer and takes a drink from the bottle before handing it back to him. Even if he doesn't like to get drunk, he likes the taste of it. It reminds him of Ronan's kisses back home when his boyfriend had a healthy supply of beer and liquor.
"You don't have to be an ass about it." He says, no vehemence behind the words. Because of course Ronan has to be an ass about it.
