Daycycle 116 [ November 13 - November 26 ]

daycycle 116

[Nov 13 - Nov 26]

[OOC Plotting for this Daycycle can be found here.]
[The Charity Ball Entertainment post is here.]
[This DC has been extended through 11/26.]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Special Troubleshooters have been selected for a mission this morning.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

Matt Murdock's office will be assigned to defend the most recent Specials accused of treason. He will not be allowed to contact the traitors directly, but he will be given the task of preparing his cases. He has 48 hours to prepare.

Jack Harkness has been selected to plan the entertainment for tonight's Charity Ball, thanks to the popularity of his performances during the Alpha Talent Show a few days ago. When he asks The Computer for help, several specials are assigned to him. Izzy Lightwood will be his event planning assistant and "Stiles" Stilinski will assist in MCing the night's event. Due to their popularity, all Specials will be approached about being auctioned off for dances in order to help raise money by Jack, Izzy and Stiles. They will also be asked if they're willing to take part in specially planned choreographed dances. Dance lessons will be provided for those that require them during the afternoon hours.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will begin at 1800 at the Alpha Museum of Fine Art and will be hosted by The Humanists Alpha Society for the Arts. Tickets to the event are 1000cr and can be bought up until an hour before the event begins. Attendees have been given special permission to wear Old Reckoning clothing for this event only, as long as it is the same color as their clearance level. Specials may notice that many of the Alpha Citizen's outfits have gotten key parts of Old Reckoning clothing wrong, with buttons instead of sequins, for example, or men wearing ties that are much too long and go to their knees. Alpha's Very Special Forces will be present to ensure the safety of those attending.

An entire wing of the museum has been cleared as a makeshift dance floor. In an attached room there are several tables covered in white tablecloths and set with the crystal and china that usually only graces Violet citizen tables. Along the wall is a massive buffet made with real food and including an elaborate ice sculpture. There is a bar in the corner where Alpha's finest spirits are being disbursed freely. For the first hour, the focus is on the food and mingling. The music playing is calming and instrumental. There are some that steal the dancefloor for a slow spin, but the majority of the attendees seem reluctant to move away from the buffet.

And then at approximately 1900, Jack Harkness will take the stage and begin the evening's real entertainment.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Barry looks up from the pile of paperwork he's pouring over and blinks in surprise at seeing Izzy standing in his lab. He'd left the door open because the dead silence was beginning to get to him, but he hadn't really expected anyone to take it as an open invitation.

For this company though, he's glad she did. He's been meaning to stop by the morgue and lab in Technical Services to talk to Izzy face to face about what she remembers from the ill-fated trip to the surface. He just hasn't had the chance yet.

[OOC: I'm always feeling Izzy! Sorry it's taken so long to tag back. ]
"Izzy," he says, a smile spreading across his face. He scoots his chair back to get up, catching his chair on the desk and sending a pile of paperwork toppling over and all over the floor. He sighs and simply steps over it. "Hey."

He glances back at the papers on the floor and shrugs. "I think I'll be catching up for the next week, to be honest. At least until they find another Forensics expert. You're not looking to shift labs, are you?"

Izzy can't help the smile that spreads on her face, Barry's is a little bit infectious--he just has one of those smiles it seems like. Well, and the fact that sending an entire pile of paperwork careening off of the edge of a desk and onto the floor....she's only human, she can't quite hold back her amusement, though, she does keep the laugh to a light one. "I didn't mean to startle you." The petite woman gestures to the paperwork strewn on the floor of Barry's lab now, an eyebrow lifting, with...maybe a bit of pity for the accident; messes aren't fun, and however those papers were organized...well, that's been completely lost now.

"That sounds rough." Izzy admits, sympathy in her tone. The massive amount of paperwork on the floor definitely makes it pretty obvious that he could use a hand. "I hadn't thought about it, honestly, but it does get kind of quiet in my lab off the morgue, slow at times too." Izzy admits; she doesn't just examine dead bodies, though. There's always the possibility that the Computer, or her her supervisors, might let her split time between the labs.... Barry really does look like he could use the help.

"And you really look like you could use the help, so I might consider it, actually." Izzy gestures to the paper on the floor. "You want a hand cleaning that up? I don't mind, and I have time." He's one of the few people that might have answers for the shadowhunter, though, and she definitely wants to talk through what happened with him...see if he can fill in gaps that she has, so spending a few moments longer than she intended here...definitely worth it, to her.

He raises his eyebrows in surprise. He'd only been joking about the help, but it has been a little lonely since Lydia's been gone.

"I can manage it on my own, really," he says, even though he knows that the pile of paperwork at his feet kind of completely undermines that statement. "But if you really wanted something different, I wouldn't mind the company every once in a while."

And who knew? Maybe he could help her with some of her work sometime also. He shakes his head and kneels to start scooping up paper. "No, it's okay." He pauses to look up at her. "How have you been?"

Izzy's not exactly sure what it is about Barry, but there's a certain endearing quality about the guy. Maybe it's because he's bordering on walking disaster at times, and from what she's seen of him she's not exactly ashamed of the assessment. Especially considering the fact that he did just knock over a large pile of paperwork mere moments ago. The shadowhunter can't quite help the manicured eyebrow that lifts at the other forensic expert's words, though. She does hold back the laugh as she reminds herself that it's not actually Barry's fault that he's so behind.

He's behind because they were pulled away on assignment. Whatever that means...considering she doesn't actually remember anything. He's just not quite as lucky as her when it comes to where he works...and the amount of work. "I beg to differ." Izzy comments, lightly, a smile for Barry despite the words. "I honestly wouldn't mind the company, though. The morgue isn't exactly a high traffic area, surprisingly." It's a joke, of course. Probably not a very good one, but a joke all the same. "Plus, I'm a social creature...if you haven't gathered." The tease comes naturally as her head tilts, watching the tall man kneel.

"You are determined not to let me be helpful. Are you always this stubborn?" Izzy drops to one knee, despite the fact that he said he didn't want a hand. She's here, there's no reason not to help, after all? Picking up several papers, Izzy ignores the uncharacteristically uncoiffed curl that drops down into her face as she gathers papers, beings ure she doesn't miss any that are flat on the floor. "I've been...confused, I guess. I caught up on paperwork faster than you, but..." Izzy looks up and wets her lips, figuring now is as good a time as any. "I can't remember much of anything from our mission together, and I've been wondering if you remember anything more than me."

Izzy shifts back to gathering paperwork, though she isn't ignoring Barry. She just knows they're being monitored most of the time, so.... She hasn't forgotten about the Charity Ball either, though, she just...has this other matter first.

She actually surprises a small laugh out of him at her charge that he's stubborn. She definitely isn't the first to accuse him of that. He reaches out for more papers as she starts helping him gather the papers up.

She looks up and he holds her gaze as she gets straight to the thing that has been bothering him the most about the last couple of days. He swallows, the papers momentarily crumpling unforgotten about his chest. "No," he says finally, shaking his head. "Nothing."

He watches her for a moment longer before realizing that she's making a point of not looking at him for too long for obvious reasons. He suppresses the urge to look up at the visible camera in the corner of the office, instead drawing his attention downward again.

"There has to be a reason they don't want us to remember." Morgana's words echo through his mind. Had they come close to discovering an avenue of escape?

Izzy isn't sure if she's relieved that she's not the only one in the dark in this situation...or if it just makes her wonder even more about what the hell happened. She doesn't like being left in the dark. As somewhat of a genius (and not just the self-proclaimed kind), she's used to having the answers, or at least being able to find them. This, she's not sure how she's going to get the answers that she definitely wants. She doesn't like being made to forget.

She doesn't like anything tampering with her mind, and that's obviously what happened here...at least to some sort of degree.

"Damn." Escapes before Izzy can keep it held in, purposeful in keeping the paperwork in her own hands straightened up. And relatively tidy as she adds to it. She knows that Barry is right. He's got to be. Why else would the powers that be rob people of their memories. They're trying to keep her and Barry from something that could be dangerous to them. Which means it'd give the two Specials leverage, a means of escape, or something else that the Computer doesn't want them having. It only makes Izzy want it even more, unfortunately.

"Absolutely. It's in the best interest of Alpha Complex...in some way." Izzy looks up at Barry finally. Her tone is light, and she's purposefully choosing her words. However, the look on her face says it all. Tone and face don't match here. What's in the best interest for the Computer and Alpha Complex...is obviously not always what's in the best interest of the people who are stuck here. "Which means it could be anything from dangerous information or dangerous access that we're being protected from." Izzy's learned over time that when you're being monitored if you speak in flippant and/or lighter tones--'showing' that you aren't interested or are compliant that way--it gets you in less trouble. So, she's being careful, or at least trying despite the fact that she's curious by nature.

Picking up the last few bits of paper near her (considering her significantly shorter reach than Barry), Izzy finally stops after a moment, to focus on the other forensics expert in this place. "Asking you that was really only a part of the reason I stopped by, along with opportunity." Izzy jokes, trying not to linger. She can pick his brain later, potentially, about this whole thing, which is the message she tries to convey with her face. "I'm helping with the Charity Ball, and I'm signing up volunteers for the auction. You wouldn't be interested in auctioning off a dance or two for a good cause, would you?"

Barry doesn't miss how her words completely contradict the look on her face. He can't help but think it's pretty smart, all things considered. At least if there's a human in charge of the monitoring they might just go right past the tone of things.

"Of course," Barry says, making his own voice much more lighthearted than he feels. "There has to be a good reason we don't remember." And that is what he's afraid of. Whatever is being kept from them, it's being kept because it's dangerous.

He straightens up and sets the pile back on the corner of his desk, taking a moment to pause and push them a little further back from the edge so they don't fall again before Izzy's request catches his attention.

He smiles, despite the heaviness of the conversation they were having a moment ago, his eyebrows raising in surprise. "Dancing?"

It's not what he expected, but he takes a moment to think it over. "Is this for the rebuilding effort?"

Growing up in the Institute definitely helped Izzy in certain areas. You can't get away with anything when there are other shadowhunters around. Plus, factoring in Izzy's connection to seelies and various other downworlders...and the tricky nuances of interacting with them... the petite woman is really good at the art of saying one thing and meaning another...even conveying it when necessary. She's just glad that Barry is one that, apparently, pays attention. That's definitely a good thing.

Tame curls bounce with the nod that Izzy gives Barry. The petite woman chooses her words carefully, looking upward at her companion. "Exactly. The Computer is looking out for us." If Izzy weren't good at keeping a straight face she'd probably scoff. However, she really is. So, she picks up one of the pens on his desk and finds a spare piece of paper, being sure to block the scrap from visibility, before scribbling quickly: 'Still looking for answers: subtlety?' Once she's written the message she hands him the piece of paper and acts as if nothing is out of the ordinary while nodding.

"Dancing, yes." The grin on her mouth is full of amusement as she watches the tall man, unable to help it. "All of the proceeds go toward rebuilding, yes. So, what do you say? You interested in auctioning off your fancy footwork for a good cause?" Her eyebrows lift in question, the charm definitely turned on at the moment.

He nods after his eyes scan the note, glancing up to meet Izzy's gaze. They should probably try to have this conversation somewhere were there weren't cameras or probable bugs.

He scribbles on the note. We can talk about it at HQ. If I remember anything.

He passes it back to Izzy, clearing his throat. "Well, if it's for rebuilding... Sure, I can offer a dance or two. Just make sure to get the money before we dance."

Izzy's eyes scan the note quickly taking in the words and giving him a nod and what she's positive is an innocent and unassuming smile as she folds the paper up and then starts to 'idly' rip it into pieces. A camera, or person, looking in might think she's just doing it to keep her hands busy for the moment, when in reality she's just getting rid of evidence by ripping it into the tiniest shreds of pieces that she can.

"I don't think that will be a problem." The grin on Iz's face is bright. This was pretty easy, all things considered. Barry gave in without much convincing needing be done on her part. "I'll add you to the list!" The announcement is made with confidence and Izzy is actually really glad that she stopped by. Two birds, one stone.

"I don't suppose you'd also be interested in joining in and doing a choreographed dance too, to show off and entertain?" The shadowhunter knows this is probably pushing her already good luck, but she can't help but ask anyway. That is her job for the day, and when she's given a task like this, and Izzy accomplishes what she sets her mind to and goes for it. Even if she doesn't always get exactly what she wants every time. She's already gotten another auction volunteer and that is good.
