Daycycle 116 [ November 13 - November 26 ]

daycycle 116

[Nov 13 - Nov 26]

[OOC Plotting for this Daycycle can be found here.]
[The Charity Ball Entertainment post is here.]
[This DC has been extended through 11/26.]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Special Troubleshooters have been selected for a mission this morning.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

Matt Murdock's office will be assigned to defend the most recent Specials accused of treason. He will not be allowed to contact the traitors directly, but he will be given the task of preparing his cases. He has 48 hours to prepare.

Jack Harkness has been selected to plan the entertainment for tonight's Charity Ball, thanks to the popularity of his performances during the Alpha Talent Show a few days ago. When he asks The Computer for help, several specials are assigned to him. Izzy Lightwood will be his event planning assistant and "Stiles" Stilinski will assist in MCing the night's event. Due to their popularity, all Specials will be approached about being auctioned off for dances in order to help raise money by Jack, Izzy and Stiles. They will also be asked if they're willing to take part in specially planned choreographed dances. Dance lessons will be provided for those that require them during the afternoon hours.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will begin at 1800 at the Alpha Museum of Fine Art and will be hosted by The Humanists Alpha Society for the Arts. Tickets to the event are 1000cr and can be bought up until an hour before the event begins. Attendees have been given special permission to wear Old Reckoning clothing for this event only, as long as it is the same color as their clearance level. Specials may notice that many of the Alpha Citizen's outfits have gotten key parts of Old Reckoning clothing wrong, with buttons instead of sequins, for example, or men wearing ties that are much too long and go to their knees. Alpha's Very Special Forces will be present to ensure the safety of those attending.

An entire wing of the museum has been cleared as a makeshift dance floor. In an attached room there are several tables covered in white tablecloths and set with the crystal and china that usually only graces Violet citizen tables. Along the wall is a massive buffet made with real food and including an elaborate ice sculpture. There is a bar in the corner where Alpha's finest spirits are being disbursed freely. For the first hour, the focus is on the food and mingling. The music playing is calming and instrumental. There are some that steal the dancefloor for a slow spin, but the majority of the attendees seem reluctant to move away from the buffet.

And then at approximately 1900, Jack Harkness will take the stage and begin the evening's real entertainment.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Fewer complications would be nice. Although Alcide isn't sure he would know what to do without them. He's more accustomed to working around them than he probably should be. When he'd been younger there would have been a time when being with someone who wasn't a wolf, someone who wasn't pack, would be unheard of. Wolves in his world can be very insular for the most part. But at some point along the way, Alcide broke away from that way of life and that line of thinking. He's different from the rest. And he doesn't want to go backwards.

When she smiles like that, Alcide finds it hard not to smile too. His lips slowly pull into one that makes him look just a little bit goofy, he thinks, so he quickly gets that under control so that it's just a small grin.

"I like that idea. Less fancy. Smaller affair. Just you for company. I'm good with that." The song ends and they're still swaying slightly - until Alcide notices they're doing it and he stops, his hand slipping away from Buffy's waist but the hand holding hers still lingering a moment longer before letting go too. "Guess I should go find Zee... make sure she's not too drunk to stand up." He says this with fondness. Zee's his best friend.

“You’re better off eating like that,” Katniss says quietly, glancing around to make sure no one is listening in. She’s become accepting of the glitches as real memories. And as she’s done that, it’s also sunk in how dangerous it can be to discuss those glitches aloud. Still, though Katniss is reluctant to make friends here, Zatanna doesn’t seem so bad. She’s almost willing to say that she likes the other girl. That means that she doesn’t want to see her suffer. “Especially if we don’t know when we’ll have real food again.”

It had been her method growing up. Even now, as she places the ‘safe’ food on her plate, Katniss takes some of the smaller pieces and stuffs them in her mouth. Eat until full. Until you can’t stuff any more morsels into your stomach. You never know where from – or more importantly, when - your next mean is coming.

“I don’t want to stop you from having fun,” she adds in after swallowing the small piece of chicken she had been chewing on. “Thank you though. For your help.”

If the circumstances could be different, Prim being in Alpha Complex is one of the last things that Katniss would ever want. But this is only way they’ll ever be together again. More than that, this is the only chance her sister has of ever getting to live to see her fourteenth birthday. The Computer’s decisions are doubtful at best but in bringing Prim here, It did something right.

“White on rice?” Katniss asks and then shakes her head. That’s not important. She thinks that she understands the gist of what he has to say anyway. It’s how she feels every time she has to part from her sister; that she should be by her side all the time. That if she had before, back in Panem, then maybe Prim wouldn’t have been killed. “We’re in different rooms. And we have different jobs. I also don’t think she’d like it if I shadowed her the entire dance.”

The longing look she casts in her sister’s direction makes it clear that that’s exactly what she wants to do.

"Yeah, probably wouldn't win many brownie points with her that way." He can imagine Janice trying to get to know some guy and Alcide looming over her... literally, since he's so tall. Janice would tell him to get away all while wanting him just close enough in case the guy in question decided to cop a feel.

That thought is what prompts him to add: "Although I'm guessin' she doesn't mind havin' you close even if she doesn't want you on top of everything she does. That's the way siblings work, I think... at least in my experience."

His gaze follows hers over to the sibling in question, or at least who he assumes is the sibling in question. He probably shouldn't be surprised by how young Prim looks, but he is anyway. He hates that kids get pulled into this place. "How much younger is she?"

With a shrug, Zee looks back at the buffet for a second before her eyes rest on the other girl once more. "Yes and no, I think," she says non-commitally.

Yes, it's good to fill up while she can and Zatanna knows this; that's why she did it. But no, it's probably not terribly healthy to binge eat like that, either. Sorry health, she's not sure when her next meal is going to come from, if she doesn't count the terrible soylent, so she's going to have to take what she can get while she can get it. A sentiment which Katniss shortly thereafter echoes aloud without realizing they're on exactly the same page already.

"Oh, I'm fine," she says, but Zatanna can take a hint. Katniss would rather be on her own and that's okay. It isn't going to hurt Zee's feelings any; she's been there. Sometimes, alone time is preferable, even in a crowded room.

So, with a little smile, Zatanna shakes her head. "No problem," she says, giving a dismissive little wave to let Katniss know that it's really no big deal. She assumes that Katniss would've done the same for her if the tables were turned. It's not like listing off the food items she's eaten was really a chore or anything, anyway. "Have fun tonight," she says by way of excusing herself and Zatanna gives the other girl a little wiggle of her fingers meant to be a wave before she wanders off again on her own.

Matt nods. "Really," he responds. "I've got an apartment and a law firm there." He hesitates a bit. He had been angry about all the damage, about how the Avengers had come in and taken care of the aliens, but they'd not dealt with any of the aftermath. After a few years of doing the Daredevil thing, he understands that sometimes collateral damage can't be avoided. "We've been working on cleaning it up."

And Matt had just assumed that Holtzmann had meant actual movies. He knows from Lydia and a few other people that they're fictional in their worlds.

Matt listens to Steve, occasionally dipping his head toward the pocket his phone is in and speaking a sort of shorthand 'note' to the recording. It's very clear that he's paying attention to Steve though and that he's finding value in what Steve is saying.

Any information is valuable, even the very little that he knows about Parker. When Steve is done, Matt nods a little and reaches into his pocket to turn the recording function off. "Thank you. I'll start working on this as soon as possible." Probably tonight when everyone else is asleep. He doesn't have much time to prepare. "I'll shoot you a text message if I've got any questions. I really appreciate your help. I'm having to learn how this legal system works as I go."

In all honesty, Buffy wouldn't know what to do without those complications either. She probably should consider dating someone 'normal' again, but someone normal will get killed in her world. Someone normal won't understand the complications that come with being the slayer and despite the fact that she is neither slayer nor is he wolf here, she still thinks that's some of Alcide's appeal. He knows what it's like to live in the supernatural world. They understand each other.

She likes that goofy smile, likes that she can make him smile that that when he doesn't ordinarily smile like that.

Now it's her turn to smile like a goof, ducking her head so that it hides the smile a little. She doesn't notice the lack of music either, to be honest, not until he stops dancing. She nods a little, disappointed that he doesn't want to dance a little more, but he's right: he needs to go check on Zee. "Okay. Good luck. Besides, I'll see you later tonight."

Room mates, after all.

Steve’s lips curl into a warm smile. “If we ever get home again-“ He’ll come help, or all the Avengers will, or he’ll convince Tony use his resources. All are things Steve would have liked to have said. But he can’t make that promise. Because apparently, the last thing he now remembers from home is leaving New York for Wakanda. If he showed up in Hell’s Kitchen, he’d be arrested on sight.

He shakes his head and lets out a quiet laugh. “When I’m not a wanted man back home, I’ll come help. Scout’s honor.”

By the time they’re done, Steve’s probably recited every fact he knows about the four Specials and their time here. “Anytime,” he says. “Thank you Matt. Really. If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.”

Looming isn't one of those things that Katniss will ever be able to do. She's too short to ever accomplish that. But Prim isn't much taller than she is and that does put the sisters on equal footing. Still, Alcide's right. Although there aren't any brownie points Katniss needs to earn, the last thing she does want is to lose any. Prim only arrived a couple of days prior and jeopardizing their relationship is the last thing she wants. Alcide's comment does get a hint of a smile.

"She's four years younger," she answers, glancing at Alcide and then back at Prim. "But she was only seven when our father died and our mother--" Katniss hesitates. It's more than she normally reveals and being that open makes her uncomfortable. But Derek and Buffy both trust this man. She needs to start taking leaps and finding allies if she's going to protect Prim from the worst of Alpha. "I was the only one that she really had."

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2017-01-02 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
"I get that, more than I can say. I mean, didn't have a parent who died... and I'm sorry you had to take that responsibility. But I did have a mom who left and a dad who was a damn drunk so... it was just us, me and Janice against the world." Alcide doesn't realize just yet how much she's just revealed about herself that she normally wouldn't have. And truth be told, he's just revealed quite a bit about himself too. He wants to share though, since she shared.

Strange, how when others open up it makes it easier to open up about yourself too. Alcide just wants her to know that while the circumstances might be different, he gets it.

"Anyway, protective siblings, the both of us." He says with a small smile. "You're lucky to have her with you. Not that this place is great, but it's better than home right now."

She actually surprises a small laugh out of him at her charge that he's stubborn. She definitely isn't the first to accuse him of that. He reaches out for more papers as she starts helping him gather the papers up.

She looks up and he holds her gaze as she gets straight to the thing that has been bothering him the most about the last couple of days. He swallows, the papers momentarily crumpling unforgotten about his chest. "No," he says finally, shaking his head. "Nothing."

He watches her for a moment longer before realizing that she's making a point of not looking at him for too long for obvious reasons. He suppresses the urge to look up at the visible camera in the corner of the office, instead drawing his attention downward again.

"There has to be a reason they don't want us to remember." Morgana's words echo through his mind. Had they come close to discovering an avenue of escape?

Izzy isn't sure if she's relieved that she's not the only one in the dark in this situation...or if it just makes her wonder even more about what the hell happened. She doesn't like being left in the dark. As somewhat of a genius (and not just the self-proclaimed kind), she's used to having the answers, or at least being able to find them. This, she's not sure how she's going to get the answers that she definitely wants. She doesn't like being made to forget.

She doesn't like anything tampering with her mind, and that's obviously what happened here...at least to some sort of degree.

"Damn." Escapes before Izzy can keep it held in, purposeful in keeping the paperwork in her own hands straightened up. And relatively tidy as she adds to it. She knows that Barry is right. He's got to be. Why else would the powers that be rob people of their memories. They're trying to keep her and Barry from something that could be dangerous to them. Which means it'd give the two Specials leverage, a means of escape, or something else that the Computer doesn't want them having. It only makes Izzy want it even more, unfortunately.

"Absolutely. It's in the best interest of Alpha Complex...in some way." Izzy looks up at Barry finally. Her tone is light, and she's purposefully choosing her words. However, the look on her face says it all. Tone and face don't match here. What's in the best interest for the Computer and Alpha Complex...is obviously not always what's in the best interest of the people who are stuck here. "Which means it could be anything from dangerous information or dangerous access that we're being protected from." Izzy's learned over time that when you're being monitored if you speak in flippant and/or lighter tones--'showing' that you aren't interested or are compliant that way--it gets you in less trouble. So, she's being careful, or at least trying despite the fact that she's curious by nature.

Picking up the last few bits of paper near her (considering her significantly shorter reach than Barry), Izzy finally stops after a moment, to focus on the other forensics expert in this place. "Asking you that was really only a part of the reason I stopped by, along with opportunity." Izzy jokes, trying not to linger. She can pick his brain later, potentially, about this whole thing, which is the message she tries to convey with her face. "I'm helping with the Charity Ball, and I'm signing up volunteers for the auction. You wouldn't be interested in auctioning off a dance or two for a good cause, would you?"

Barry doesn't miss how her words completely contradict the look on her face. He can't help but think it's pretty smart, all things considered. At least if there's a human in charge of the monitoring they might just go right past the tone of things.

"Of course," Barry says, making his own voice much more lighthearted than he feels. "There has to be a good reason we don't remember." And that is what he's afraid of. Whatever is being kept from them, it's being kept because it's dangerous.

He straightens up and sets the pile back on the corner of his desk, taking a moment to pause and push them a little further back from the edge so they don't fall again before Izzy's request catches his attention.

He smiles, despite the heaviness of the conversation they were having a moment ago, his eyebrows raising in surprise. "Dancing?"

It's not what he expected, but he takes a moment to think it over. "Is this for the rebuilding effort?"

Growing up in the Institute definitely helped Izzy in certain areas. You can't get away with anything when there are other shadowhunters around. Plus, factoring in Izzy's connection to seelies and various other downworlders...and the tricky nuances of interacting with them... the petite woman is really good at the art of saying one thing and meaning another...even conveying it when necessary. She's just glad that Barry is one that, apparently, pays attention. That's definitely a good thing.

Tame curls bounce with the nod that Izzy gives Barry. The petite woman chooses her words carefully, looking upward at her companion. "Exactly. The Computer is looking out for us." If Izzy weren't good at keeping a straight face she'd probably scoff. However, she really is. So, she picks up one of the pens on his desk and finds a spare piece of paper, being sure to block the scrap from visibility, before scribbling quickly: 'Still looking for answers: subtlety?' Once she's written the message she hands him the piece of paper and acts as if nothing is out of the ordinary while nodding.

"Dancing, yes." The grin on her mouth is full of amusement as she watches the tall man, unable to help it. "All of the proceeds go toward rebuilding, yes. So, what do you say? You interested in auctioning off your fancy footwork for a good cause?" Her eyebrows lift in question, the charm definitely turned on at the moment.

He nods after his eyes scan the note, glancing up to meet Izzy's gaze. They should probably try to have this conversation somewhere were there weren't cameras or probable bugs.

He scribbles on the note. We can talk about it at HQ. If I remember anything.

He passes it back to Izzy, clearing his throat. "Well, if it's for rebuilding... Sure, I can offer a dance or two. Just make sure to get the money before we dance."

Izzy's eyes scan the note quickly taking in the words and giving him a nod and what she's positive is an innocent and unassuming smile as she folds the paper up and then starts to 'idly' rip it into pieces. A camera, or person, looking in might think she's just doing it to keep her hands busy for the moment, when in reality she's just getting rid of evidence by ripping it into the tiniest shreds of pieces that she can.

"I don't think that will be a problem." The grin on Iz's face is bright. This was pretty easy, all things considered. Barry gave in without much convincing needing be done on her part. "I'll add you to the list!" The announcement is made with confidence and Izzy is actually really glad that she stopped by. Two birds, one stone.

"I don't suppose you'd also be interested in joining in and doing a choreographed dance too, to show off and entertain?" The shadowhunter knows this is probably pushing her already good luck, but she can't help but ask anyway. That is her job for the day, and when she's given a task like this, and Izzy accomplishes what she sets her mind to and goes for it. Even if she doesn't always get exactly what she wants every time. She's already gotten another auction volunteer and that is good.
