Daycycle 112 [ October 16 - October 22 ]

daycycle 112

[Oct 16 - Oct 22]

[OOC Plotting for this Dacycle can be found here.]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Special Troubleshooters have been selected for a mission this morning.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

Free Enterprise is pushing a new, adjusted street form of No Fear (Dynomorphin). The original pharmaceutical is meant for those in Ultraviolet ranks, but this form is much dirtier, cheaper and more addictive. In order to get people hooked, they've put a healthy dose in the wagon wheel's ORANGE and RED level coffee-like supplies. The drug causes a very bullet proof feeling of euphoria. Side effects include paranoia, hallucinations, increased sociability, increased sex drive, panic attacks, excited delirium - extreme agitation and violence, and the temporary loss of feeling in nerve endings (inability to feel pain). A standard dose lasts four hours. Withdrawal symptoms include nosebleeds, sweating, nausea, dehydration and blinding migraines. For those that want more of the drug, Free Enterprise will make it easily accessible.

At 1200, a squad of Grey Ops will arrive at Medical Services to escort Caitlin Snow away for suspected treason. Anyone asking for additional information will be told it's classified and warned not to continue asking questions. Approximately fifteen minutes later another squad of Grey Ops will arrive at Internal Security to lead Vision away. Anyone asking for additional information will be given the same party line.

At 1400 today, Jack Harkness will be summoned by Mind Control to the Production offices on the twenty fifth floor. There he will be offered a position in Media Production where he will assist with the Teela O'Malley show. This position will come with a clearance level promotion of ORANGE, since the talk show star doesn't associate with anyone of lower clearance level. Jack will be responsible for ramping up the excitement levels of the live audience and the personal entertainment of the star.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1900 in Meeting Room G, Wagon Wheel Floor 24 and will be hosted by the Alpha Smiling Club. Join us tonight for refreshments and tips on faking it until you make it!

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

"I wouldn't say that this is nothing. Considering how limited the food is here, this is actually pretty great."

He meant it, too. It's funny, Tony was never really much of a fruit kind of person. Every now and then, sure, but now? The bowl of fruit looked absolutely delicious and he really was very happy and touched by the gift. Her comment about not letting friends eat the food from the commissary made him chuckle softly under his breath, and he gave another small nod in thanks.

"Don't worry, you can't get rid of me so easily. I'm okay, just... with a new accessory." He gave the reactor a soft tap, although its barely audible considering the jumpsuit is covering the protective glass that keeps the mechanism safe. There were other cuts under his sleeves that were now mostly healed, and the cut that had been stitched close along his hairline was only visible if she really paid attention to it, but the most telling sign of what had happened was sitting on his chest. "Did...you lose a friend to this place already?"

The question was quiet, to keep the conversation away from prying ears.

It might be the first time since she woke up here that Morgana manages to bite her tongue and keep the overwhelming amount of curiosity from spilling into a mile long list of questions. Somehow, despite months and months of living here everything still seemed so foreign. Sure she could handle the bots at her station, and she was at least aware of how to use that stupid pistol they gave the second half too during missions, but there were a million things she just didn't understand.

And few were as big as a man with something right in the centre of his chest who was sitting there chatting to her.

She paused for a moment when he asked if she'd lost someone, she had seen plenty come and go of course but there was only one she had really, truly cared about.

'Root. Samantha Groves. Arrested for treason and never seen again.' her voice is quiet, and suddenly sober, she swallowed. 'I was only close to her and Steve... and she's gone.' she said all of this with the easy smile still plastered on her lips, though it was beginning to strain.

'I met both when we were all new to this place. She was an enigma.' but she was kind to Morgana even with the sideways glances when Morgana casually mentioned things like the dragons that had once lived in Camelot, or that she had realised she was a witch. 'I got too busy and stopped spending time with her and then one morning she was taken away before dawn.' She shrugged as if it was nothing but her eyes had suddenly gone glassy.

'At least the computer loves Steve, maybe it won't eat him. Or you.'

Once again, when Morgana didn't ask any questions, Tony just let it go as well. If she would have asked, he was ready to try and answer whatever he could, as best as he could. Considering how many times the subject had come up back home, he was well versed in these things and, while with others he might not have a lot of patience sometimes, at least Morgana was kind enough to him that he wouldn't mind answering questions for her.

His brow furrowed as she spoke about the friend she lost. Root. He didn't remember talking to her before but it wasn't really surprising, considering Tony hadn't been the most social of individuals since his arrival. Still, he sympathized with Morgana, because he knew well how it felt to not have a lot of friends and lose them, and he reached to give her hand a small squeeze.

"I'm sorry that you have to go through that." His voice was a little softer, and he smiled slightly at her comment. "Yeah, he'll be okay. He's the Golden Boy, right? How can the Computer not like him."

Her smile was more genuine as she squeezed his hands back. Tony and Steve weren't much alike, but their hands were nice and solid and grounding. She took a deep breath and shrugged as her fingers brushed absently over the side of his hand.

'She would smack me upside the head for mooning over her absence.' at least, maybe. That was the thing with Root - no matter how well Morgana felt she knew the woman, she always found a way to surprise her.

'Well Steve, everyone likes Steve except for Parker but she likes maybe three people in her whole world and none of them are here,' not anymore, Morgana thinks maybe one of her other original roommates was from Parkers world, but she had done her best to avoid all of them at the time so she wasn't sure. 'And I mean who wouldn't like him, he's kind, he's sweet... he tas------ talks nicely.' and yeah maybe she's still a bit doped up on the coffee but most of that was genuinely how she felt about him. Including the part she remembered not to say barely in the nick of time. 'Even when I mess up he's a real gentleman about it.'

A sympathetic smile crossed his lips when she said Root would smack her upside the head for mooning over her absence. He wished that he could say or do the right thing to help her figure out how to stop that absence she was feeling, but the truth was that Tony still didn't know how to even come close to fixing that for himself, either.

So, instead, he just let her continue to hold onto his hand for as long as she needed. If this was the only thing he could do, then he would do it. No questions asked.

It was probably a good thing that this conversation was happening after he and Steve have started to mend their friendship, because just two days ago Tony would have probably rolled his eyes at Morgana's description of him. How he was kind, or sweet. Not because he wanted to make fun of her for saying it, but just because Tony had been holding onto the grudge he had carried with him into this place and the last thing he would have agreed with was that Steve Rogers was kind. But, considering their talk at Medical Services yesterday, and then the way that Steve had looked for him this morning just to give him fresh coffee (real coffee) to help him feel better after being hospitalized... He didn't find himself rolling his eyes. At all.

He did find himself noticing the way that Morgana talked about him, though, and... Hm. There was a tinge of something that seemed to wedge itself in his chest, somewhere between his heart and the arc reactor, but Tony didn't let himself think much of it.

"...when you mess up?"

Steve had been a saint to Morgana, so much so that she'd spent at least a week or two wondering how full of shit he was and when the other shoe would drop. But aside from him being stupid enough to barge through an unlocked door because he didn't ask before slamming his shoulder into it, in Morgana's experience, there had been no other shoe.

She had watched him jump through the ranks, while she barely rose and he remained her friend, he remained just Steve. Foolish, maybe, foolhardy, definitely. But always just Steve with his easy smile and steady voice.

And a man who listened to Morgana without reservations because she was a woman. No one did that back home, at least not often.

She didn't explain any of that, though, it all seemed to be so blatant and obvious to her that surely his friend from home wouldn't need the explanation.

When Tony asked her what she'd done, the colour in her cheeks went from a mild pink to a deep red. She swallowed, now looking at their hands where they lay together on the table.

'I mean it doesn't matter, really, he doesn't... It's never going to happen again. I was upset and misjudged a moment but he made it perfectly clear for me.' that wasn't quite true, and though she doesn't say what it was it wouldn't be hard to guess from her reaction but honestly she hadn't regretted anything so much as she did that span of heartbeats in Steves room.

Not because she hadn't wanted to kiss him. Lord only knows the thought had crossed her mind before but there had never been the thought that he might kiss her back while refusing to touch her. Morgana honestly didn't know what to make of that, or why it twisted uncomfortably in her gut. Not the rejection so much as how easy it would've been to keep kissing him and how sure she was he would've let her... all the while not wanting it. Not really.

'Turns out, my people reading skills are a few mountain ranges off from being correct.' and she had felt half sick about it since, even though they had gone straight back to talking like nothing had occurred and so far as she could tell their friendship was barely even chipped. 'Apparently being kind to me makes me stupid.'

At first Tony didn't understand what Morgana was implying by what she was saying. Which was probably stupid, considering the way she reddened as she spoke, but his thoughts just didn't wander there right away. His brow even furrowed slightly in confusion.

It wasn't until she mentioned that she misjudged a moment, and... Wait. Did she mean-- His frown deepened a little more, but he tried to keep his expression controlled as much as possible. Even if it felt like his stomach twisted almost too painfully, although he had no idea how or why that was.

Shit, did Steve go around kissing everyone? This morning it had been Katniss, and apparently Morgana? A flare of something felt like it smacked him right in the face, but he refused to let his true feelings show. Mainly because he honestly had no idea what the hell his feelings were, and he tried to offer a small smile even if it wasn't truly working.

"It doesn't make you stupid," he tried to reassure her. "Stuff like that happens. Steve and I have dealt with pretty shitty things, and our friendship is somehow still standing." Somehow. Barely, but at least now he could at least say that honestly. "He's a good guy, I doubt he's going to hold it against you."

'He is a good guy,' she agreed in a way that was almost automatic. For anyone who had known Morgana here a while the way she spoke about Steve wasn't a surprise, hell some of them probably knew about her little crush long before she did — which had been exactly when she had kissed him.

Honestly, if she had realised she wouldn't have gone with him that night but would've stayed in her room, terrified and lonely because god that was better than this. The sleeping gas would've taken care of her eventually.

But she hadn't, and she had had days to brood over her mistakes and the coffee today that had loosened her lips which was the only reason she let it spill out so easily, almost accidentally.

'It was days ago, he never held it against me. It does make me stupid, though.' she looked up from their hands then, trying to work out through her clouded mind what wasn't right about this situation. Tony seemed... off in a way he hadn't before but maybe that thing in his chest was bothering him? Had she said something wrong?'

'He is a better friend to me than I ever deserved. Just a dumb witch who can't control her powers or apparently her mouth.' "witch" was half whispered because being a mutant even one currently without powers wasn't something to advertise, but then what did that matter either? Maybe the computer could wipe her and start again... maybe.

"Why does it make you stupid?"

He felt he knew the answer, but he was almost afraid to ask. Do you have feelings for Steve? The question was already dangerous territory, but Tony couldn't bring himself to ask it outright. He was afraid of the answer, and he wasn't even entirely sure why.

Still, no matter what his feelings in this whole situation was, he gave her hand a gentle squeeze again. "Hey. You're not a dumb anything, alright? We all do stupid things, and maybe it's a lapse of judgement. Maybe it's something else altogether. But it happens. To everyone. It doesn't make you dumb. It just...makes you human."

'I am a Lady.' there was much more force behind "Lady", than if she was just describing her sex. 'I survived in Camelot for years by being able to read people and I come here and I am blind. I was blind to Root, I am blind to Steve and most of all to myself. How could I be so foolish? I'm not a teenager, I'm not a child. I haven't been a child since I was ten years old and orphaned. There is no excuse for not realising, no excuse for... doing that to him. Even if he isn't hurt.'

While there was no excuse, the bitter loneliness that coated her tongue had been what clouded her vision, it had crept upon her like a sickness as a child and never really abated unless Gwen was nearby or in a few instances, Arthur. But neither of those friendships were something she could get here...

And then there had been Steve, barging into her life like it was nothing.

Strong, and tall, and... sweeter than honey. It had been too long since she had been given such easy kindness, there was never any strings with Steve, never any price and she had misread him because she was so tired of being alone that it made her tremble.

He hadn't even turned away when she said she was a witch, dangerous, untrained. He had said he would help her instead, he had said she wouldn't hurt anyone and he would be there for her and that was that.

And Morgana had almost ruined everything.

'He has never thought of me that way. He still doesn't.' but all the cheer and well wishes she had sat at this table with were turning into a horrible urge to cry so she got up from her seat, somewhat abruptly.

'I hope you feel better soon, Tony. Really. You're a good guy, too, you know. One I'm not going to make a fool of myself in front of so goodbye.'

Maybe she ought to spend the rest of her day somewhere else, far away from people, especially ones who knew Steve.

Tony opened his mouth to speak, to try and comfort her, but he wasn't sure what to really say. Not only because he was always terrible at this kind of thing, but he wasn't sure if he was the best person to address this kind of thing - especially with the ever-growing twisting in his stomach as the conversation progressed.

Not that it would have stopped him from trying to comfort her. He was still scrambling to think of something to say to help her feel better, but it didn't work. When she tried to leave, he sighed under his breath. Again, he wanted to let her know that she didn't have to go, but who was he to force her to stay? If there was one thing that Tony understood was the necessity to exit stage left when emotions got out of hand, so it wasn't like he could blame her for wanting to do just that.

"I'm here if you need anything," he offered before she could leave. "Take care, Morgana."
