Daycycle 112 [ October 16 - October 22 ]

daycycle 112

[Oct 16 - Oct 22]

[OOC Plotting for this Dacycle can be found here.]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Special Troubleshooters have been selected for a mission this morning.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

Free Enterprise is pushing a new, adjusted street form of No Fear (Dynomorphin). The original pharmaceutical is meant for those in Ultraviolet ranks, but this form is much dirtier, cheaper and more addictive. In order to get people hooked, they've put a healthy dose in the wagon wheel's ORANGE and RED level coffee-like supplies. The drug causes a very bullet proof feeling of euphoria. Side effects include paranoia, hallucinations, increased sociability, increased sex drive, panic attacks, excited delirium - extreme agitation and violence, and the temporary loss of feeling in nerve endings (inability to feel pain). A standard dose lasts four hours. Withdrawal symptoms include nosebleeds, sweating, nausea, dehydration and blinding migraines. For those that want more of the drug, Free Enterprise will make it easily accessible.

At 1200, a squad of Grey Ops will arrive at Medical Services to escort Caitlin Snow away for suspected treason. Anyone asking for additional information will be told it's classified and warned not to continue asking questions. Approximately fifteen minutes later another squad of Grey Ops will arrive at Internal Security to lead Vision away. Anyone asking for additional information will be given the same party line.

At 1400 today, Jack Harkness will be summoned by Mind Control to the Production offices on the twenty fifth floor. There he will be offered a position in Media Production where he will assist with the Teela O'Malley show. This position will come with a clearance level promotion of ORANGE, since the talk show star doesn't associate with anyone of lower clearance level. Jack will be responsible for ramping up the excitement levels of the live audience and the personal entertainment of the star.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1900 in Meeting Room G, Wagon Wheel Floor 24 and will be hosted by the Alpha Smiling Club. Join us tonight for refreshments and tips on faking it until you make it!

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Adam does smile then. It looks awkward and lopsided because his lips never quite know what to do when a smile appears. Adam is not a boy who smiles very often. But with his own strange energy of the day and the additive of Ronan's energy, with the excitement of destroying things and stealing a vehicle, with the adrenaline rush as they go faster, faster, faster, it all makes for a wonderfully unique moment in which Adam has to smile.

He rests back in his seat and watches as they speed past buildings in the compound, past people on the streets, past bots wondering where that car is going so fast as it is. In this moment, even though he can see all of these things, there's just him and Ronan, there's nothing but getting out and the two people in this car.

"As far and as fast." He mimics Ronan's words in a rhetorical whisper.

Ronan would steal a car, destroy a world and dream a new for that smile on Adam's face because it's a real smile, a true smile. Hell, Ronan might even allow himself to be drugged every day if it would elicit this sort of reaction from Adam.

Ronan has the same sort of single-minded focus on the drive. It's a sort of freedom that they haven't had here and for a little while, Ronan feels like Ronan.

Unfortunately, the road does end, or at least they come to a gate that won't open. Ronan backtracks, and ends up pulling the car onto an offshoot of a road. Maybe it's a driveway of sorts or maybe it's just a dead end. Once they come to the dead end, Ronan cuts the power to the car and sighs a little, looking over at Adam.

"That was fucking great."

Blocked at every turn, Adam has expected as much. But there is this small part of him that had hoped to find something... something else. So he can't help but be just a little bit disappointed by what they eventually find, or don't find. That's okay though. For the most part, he'd known they wouldn't find a way out no matter how far they drove.

This is an entirely new area for him though. So when Ronan stops the car in what seems to be the middle of nowhere with the center of the city in the distance, Adam looks curiously out of the windows all around him until his gaze finally lands on Ronan. They look at one another and Adam can't help but notice that Ronan looks happen.

"Well you didn't kill us." Adam jokes about Ronan's driving. "Neither did any of the bots. I call it a win."

Ronan expected as much as well, but for him it was never about getting out; it was just about going, about driving, about some semblance of freedom for a little while. Adam had given him that by helping him steal the car, by letting him drive, by never telling him that he was going too fast.

It's a new area for Ronan as well, and he's a little curious about it. He doesn't expect they'll end up getting anywhere in particular, but he's tempted to go explore anyway.

He smirks at the joke. "You wanna try it again, I can see if I can roll the thing or at least wreck it."

Normally Adam might have said something to Ronan about the speed. He would have been more worried about his own safety as Ronan pushed the accelerator beyond any number the speedometer could give them. The vehicle went from rattling to smooth sailing at speeds beyond that Ronan has probably felt in some time. Right now, with as reckless as Adam is feeling, he'd wanted to feel that exhilaration too.

Adam laughs and adamantly shakes his head. "Nononono... no. Let's just enjoy it. There's nobody out this far, it looks like. It's just us, Ronan."

No mass of people that Adam doesn't trust. No bots making sure they're happy campers. No whirring of machinery or hiss of drugged gas entering the room. No voices. No cranking sounds. No beeps. Nothing. "Just listen..." He whispers. Listen to the nothing. Blessed nothing.

Most sane people say something negative about speed when Ronan is driving. It doesn't occur to him that Adam probably would have, probably should have. Right now, everything seems to make sense. Everything seems right.

He hadn't actually realized that until Adam says it, but when he does, he leans his head against the window frame of the car and listens, a contented sort of smirk twisting at his lips. "Sounds like the Barns." Particularly after Niall had died and everything had gone to sleep. It's a little eerie, that lack of sound, but it's also really nice.

"You wanna explore, or just sit here?"

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-10-18 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Adam hadn't thought about the silence like that, but it does sound like the Barns - quiet and peaceful. Of course since being pulled in here, it had been awhile since he'd been at the Barns. Adam had been away at college when he was brought (cloned?) here. He hadn't seen Ronan in awhile. He hadn't been to the Barns. He hadn't been to Henrietta.

"Let's get out and walk around." He says, pulling on the door handle and getting out. There are a few small buildings around. Adam wants to look at them. They're small enough to be houses, but Adam isn't sure that anyone here has an actual house.

When Ronan gets around to him, Adam's fingers find his to gently hold his hand as they walk.

The barns are more alive than they had been the first time Adam had been to them, but they were still quiet, still peaceful. Of course, no matter how quiet this place is, no matter how it reminds him of the Barns, he doesn't think that he'll ever consider this home. Home is the Barns. Home is Henrietta.

Ronan nods, getting out on the driver's side and going around to meet Adam. His gaze catches on Adam when he takes his hand and he squeezes it slightly.

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-10-20 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
And vicariously for Adam, home had become Ronan Lynch, strangely enough. Adam hadn't really had a home to leave when he'd gone away to college. But he had full intentions of returning to Henrietta someday, not because of Henrietta itself, not because of the Barns, but because of Ronan and Opal. If Ronan and Opal were on Mars, he would find a way to get home to Mars. If Ronan ever wanted to uproot and move (fat chance) Adam would follow as long as Ronan wants him around.

Together, hand-in-hand, they walk up to one of the buildings. Adam cups a hand and presses his face to the window. There are crates inside, supplies of some kind. "Supplies buildings? Maybe? I don't know. Kind of underwhelming." Mostly because they would have to break in to see what's actually in the buildings.

Ronan had never wanted Adam to stay in Henrietta with him, but he had wanted him to come home to him. He knew Adam needed to go to college. He needed to go away, to prove he could, to figure out who he was. He'd trusted and hoped that Adam would come back to him. He'd been terrified he wouldn't, but oh so hopeful. Ronan isn't a creature that does things by half (which is why Adam's face is still bruised). Once he'd fallen for Adam, that had been it for him. Ronan is always going to want him around.

Ronan narrows his eyes, looking through the window a bit as well. Without saying a word to Adam, he cocks his elbow back and hits the window with the sharp point of his elbow. The glass cracks. Ronan hits the window again with his elbow in the same place; the glass breaks and Ronan continues to break the rest of the window out with his elbow. "Let's go see what's in the crates," he says brushing the glass off the edge of the window so he can lever himself through it . "I'll go unlock the door."

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-10-22 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Normally, Adam would have protested. He would have worried over the way the glass cut Ronan's elbow and over the idea of breaking and entering without a solid plan to go with it. He would have overthought it to the point of annoyance for Ronan. But Adam isn't thinking like he usually does. In fact, he grins lightly at the sound of breaking glass and the sight of glass cut on Ronan's skin. He is most definitely not himself today. Although neither he nor Ronan have a way to notice that, drugged as they are.

He hooks his hand in the sleeve of his jumpsuit and uses the material to swipe away what broken glass he can. Then he leans down to grab Ronan's legs and help lift him up into the window. He hooks his hands on the windowsil and leans up on the tips of his toes to peer into the dark building.

"What are you gonna do if there's someone in there?" Which is a stupid question given that Ronan is already inside and that it's asked so loudly that if there were someone inside, they would have heard him. But it's also asked with a laugh because Adam is highly amused at their antics.

Normally, Ronan would have taken note that Adam didn't protest or worry. However, today it seems perfectly normal that Adam wouldn't protest, wouldn't worry. The sound of breaking glass is, honestly, one of Ronan's favorite sounds pretty much any day of the week, but he takes great delight in it today.

He thinks nothing of the way Adam helps him through the window, nothing of the way that he's not warned about being caught.

"Knock 'em out," Ronan responds as he checks out the dark, empty warehouse. He hadn't actually considered what he would do if he encountered someone else, but punching them seems right. It would probably seem right even without the drugs, but Ronan would be a little sneakier about this whole thing. "Meet me at the door," he tells Adam as he walks around to the door and unlocks it, holding it wide of Adam to come inside.

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-10-27 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
There's some time here, where Adam can't see Ronan, that he feels a little bit of an anxious flare inside. It isn't enough to overshadow Adam's lifted spirits, but it's there nonetheless. Adam can't explain it right now. He's in a good mood. He wants to have fun with Ronan. He doesn't want to worry.

Adam waits at the door for what feels like too long. Then, when Ronan opens it, everything seems to right itself and Adam goes inside with him, finding a switch and turning on the lights.

The place is musty. It's probably the most ordinary place in the entire complex for that reason. It smells real, not at all sterile. "I'm guessing if someone else were here, they would've come out by now."
