Daycycle 104 [ August 21-27 ]
daycycle 104
[Aug 21 - Aug 27]
Early Morning [0800 - 0900] — All Troubleshooters Report for Duty
There is no Mission assigned to any Specials today.
Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600] — Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.
At approximately 1400 today all power within the Wagon Wheel will shut down as part of a Nameless Secret Society Demonstration. The backup generators will be disabled. All citizens within the Wagon Wheel at that time will be stuck. Locked doors will remain locked. Elevators will stop. Lights will go out. Many opportunists will use this to create pure chaos. This demonstration will go on for the next five hours.
Evening [1600 - 2200] — Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.
Tonight’s event will be at 2000 in Meeting Room B, Wagon Wheel Floor 25 and will be hosted by the Spontaneous Loyaly Demonstration Organizers. Learn how to put on a spontaneous demonstration in order to show your loyalty to the computer and Alpha Complex in an effective and memorable way.
Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.
Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

"Better to be able to run if we need to," he agrees, picking up his phone and moving to the shelves of chemicals where he starts pulling down the most explosive of them. The door isn't particularly heavy, but they need a big enough charge to work through the hinges.
He sets the ingredients down on the table beside Lydia, noting that Felicity's sent him and Cisco a private message. He pauses to type back, a look of concern crossing his face. He doesn't like the idea of Cisco exploring Armed Forces on his own, but Felicity is right, this might be their only chance without IntSec surveillance.

She can't help feeling more than a little relieved when Barry's on the same side of her argument and Lydia nods as he starts gathering ingredients and bringing them to the table. She's off finding her own, as well. "Do you think if we just contain an acetone peroxide and attach it to the hinges, that would work, or do you think that's too weak?" she asks, curious whether he thinks that'll do it or if they're going to have to go bigger.
no subject
"It should work," Barry says, quickly picking out the ingredients they need. He knows Lydia's abilities enough to trust her with getting things started before moving to the door and putting an ear against it. He can hear movement on the other side and muffled voices, but it's difficult to know if they're friendly or not.
"We should probably find some weapons, just in case." He says, moving back towards the shelves that haven't been knocked over and lifting up his PDC. He's not sure if this is some kind of rescue attempt by well meaning citizens or a rioting mob. When nothing readily presents itself, he moves towards a guest chair and turns it over, before attacking the legs to break them off.
This would've been a lot easier with his speed.
no subject
"Yeah, you're right. You do that, I'm doing this. I can't split my attention right now," she says, but she doesn't say it in a scolding way, just a reminding one, because Lydia knows that Barry's just as good at chemistry as she is and understands how this sort of thing works. "Oh, and find something to attach the jars to the door, okay?"
no subject
"Yeah, of course," Barry says, not wanting to cause her any distractions when she's building what's equivalent to a flash bomb. He can feel his adrenaline building as there's the sound of another bang outside the door. Another good kick and he now had two leg chairs to use as potential weapons.
He set to work looking for something to put the jars against the door. After checking a few drawers he discovered a roll of something similar to duct tape. He held it up for Lydia to see. "Got it."
They'd have to tape the jars to the door and then one of them would need to pour in the final compound before making a run for it. "I'll pour it in." He grinned. "I'm pretty fast when it comes to running."
no subject
She's mixed the base already by the time he's got the chair legs broken off to use as weapons and has found some sort of tape vaguely resembling duct tape — which she hopes like hell will actually hold — and she looks back at him for a moment.
"Are you sure?" she asks. "Because it would take longer, but we could rig something up to do the pouring for us, Barry..." She's nervous about the idea of him adding the final component to create the chemical reaction just because it's a pretty big boom once it takes effect, but she's also not going to fight him on it or patronize him if he really does think he can get clear enough from the door fast enough to avoid getting hurt.
no subject
"Yeah, I'm sure. At least if we're out there, we have the opportunity to run. If they get through first, we're cornered." It probably wouldn't take that much longer to rig up something to do it for them, but the sounds coming from the other side of the wall sounded louder than ever.
While he was sure they might be able to do some damage with a pair of chair legs, they were also going to be fighting in the dark. They were already at enough disadvantages as it were. He moved forward, with the duct tape, placing his phone by the door so he could use the small amount of light to guide him in taping up the jars carefully.
"You might want to see if you can find a solid surface to get behind."
no subject
She's handing off the jars to him one at a time and carefully, at that. The idea of going out there is more than a little frightening, but she'd rather be able to run than be backed into a corner, he's right. That much, she does know.
"I think before you ignite them, we need to turn over one of these lab tables; do you think you can jump it, if you have to?" she asks, chewing her bottom lip.
no subject
He looks at his handiwork and hopes to God, this tape holds. He moves quickly, pushing one of the tables to the side and nodding for Lydia to do the other one. He fips one of the tables on it's side and slides it to the back of the room.
He takes a deep breath. "Ready?"
no subject
Making her way around the table and back to another one with her PDC in hand to light the way, Lydia grabs one of the meter sticks off the wall where it's hanging neatly with plenty of other tools, some of them seemingly random, and she heads back toward the door. Giving Barry a wide berth so that he isn't distracted — plus, that adds more distance between them — Lydia measures five meter sticks away from him and then backs up another foot or two to the nearest table without being too close.
While he's finishing up, Lydia's moving lab stools out of the way and pushing or moving equipment off the table itself so that they can flip it. Fifteen feet doesn't sound that far, but now when she's looking, it feels further than it is. Her stomach is in knots already.
"Yeah, yeah...as ready as I'm ever gonna be, so we better just do it before one of us changes our minds," she says and gives him a look that says she's pretty sure that person will be her. "Go, I'm ready. I'm ready."
no subject
He glances back at Lydia, making sure that she's back behind the table. "Okay."
He grabs the final ingredient and quickly pours it into each jar. He's got seconds if his calculations are correct, so he's grateful when his hands remain steady until the very end. He runs back towards the table, jumping over it and landing hard on the ground, before scrambling to shield Lydia from as much of the blast as he can.
One second passes. Two. Three.
Nothing happens.
"Do you think--" But he's cut off at the sound of popping glass and a bang that seems to shake the entire room. Suddenly glass, door screws and the smell of acrid smoke fills the room.
no subject
"Okay," she agrees, watching as he moves toward the door with the final component. Her stomach is tied in nervous knots hoping to hell that he doesn't end up hurting himself doing this. She'll feel terrible.
As Barry starts pouring, Lydia takes in a sharp breath and doesn't realize right away that she's holding it. She scoots over quickly, letting the breath out with relief as Barry gets himself behind the table safely and she braces herself against the underside of the table in case the explosion throws furniture in their direction. If she's pressed up against it already, then it can't get pushed back into her with a blunt force that could potentially do a lot of damage.
It takes a few seconds and Lydia's starting to worry that maybe she's mixed it incorrectly or that the components weren't as concentrated as she'd anticipated when she'd been putting it together, but as Barry starts to speak, finally the chemical reaction sets in motion and the noise that fills the room -- not to mention the fact that it actually feels like the room shook a little -- startles a gasp out of her.
Her eyes shift to Barry, but he seems okay. "Okay, oh God, we can't run until we get to the hall, can we?" she breathes, because standing up means moving directly into that smoke and that can't be good for their lungs. "Come on. Come on," she insists, crawling on both knees and one hand while her other hand lights the way with the PDC in her hand.
no subject
Barry lets out a small laugh of relief when the door goes off and neither of them are hurt. It seems like a small victory, but it's one that he's definitely going to put in the Alpha plus column. "I'm good," he says when Lydia looks at him with concern. He pats her on the shoulder as a double confirmation.
He grabs his own PDC and begins moving after her. The smoke isn't super heavy, but it definitely stings when he accidentally inhales it. The closer they get, the more Barry can see that the door not only blew outward inward several feet, but it also nearly crumpled in half from the explosion.
They make their way out into the hall, where the smoke is clearing. It's just as pitch black out here as it was in the lab. He can see the swirl of a few moving flashlights down the hall. "How about we take the stairs?"
no subject
She keeps as low to the ground as she comfortably can without compromising forward movement, because even though the smoke isn't thick or anything, it's still toxic and she knows she should be making an effort not to breathe in too much of it if she can avoid it. She's a little impressed that they both came out of this completely unscathed once she sees the door.
The hallway is just as dark as the lab had been and Lydia takes in a shaky breath and nods at his suggestion before realizing he probably can't see that. "Yeah. Yeah, the stairs are good." She pushes her way to her feet and keeps one hand on the wall to guide them forward. "You watch the hall, I'll get us to the stairs," she says, tucking her PDC into her jumpsuit and using her free hand to take his so that they don't lose each other. "Here goes nothing..."
