Daycycle 4 [Nov 11-15]

DAYCYCLE 4

[NOV 11-15]

Mod Note: The RL Days to one IC Daycycle ratio is being changed from 3:1 to 5:1 as of this Daycycle. Each IC Daycycle from here on out will last five RL days. For months that have 31 days, this last day will be added to the sixth Daycycle for that month. (Ex: Dec 26-31st will be one Daycycle.).

MORNING

Troubleshooters in RM1102 will be woken up bright and early this morning as a squad of Internal Security Gray Ops come to arrest Abbie Mills for treason. She is taken from her assigned room and by the time that breakfast is over, all trace of her presence has been scrubbed. If one is to ask about the charges against her they will be told it is classified.

The majority of Troubleshooters seem a bit smug to learn of the first arrest of one of the Specials, though there are a few that actually seem a little more friendly. As if this somehow signifies that you aren’t all internal spies for The Computer. There are a few new faces this morning in the briefing huddle. Barry Allen, Gaius Maecenas and Lydia Martin were released from the Cloning center 24 hours ago and are joining the Special Troubleshooter ranks.

Today’s missions are more of the mundane nature, but as boring as they seem, they must be seen to.

Troubleshooter Team: Barry Allen & Lydia Martin

Mission: You are to deliver this 100-kilo spool of copper wire to the transformer station by transbot platform 12-YELLOW. The local quartermaster will sign for it. Be on the lookout for possible theft attempts. Intel indicates that the Free Enterprise group has been asking about copper materials as of late, most likely to aid some terrorist plot.

All other Troubleshooters: You are to report to your Service Firm positions for the day, until called on for Troubleshooter duty.

Intel

  • There was a recent security leak in Internal Security. The threat has been dealt with, but keep an ear open for anyone acting suspiciously in case they had accomplices. Report any and all forms of treason, even the possible intention of treason, immediately.

AFTERNOON

At 1400 Natasha Romanoff will be pulled from her Threat Assessment job and interrogated by Internal Security for information about Abbie Mills and her recent actions. It will be implied that Natasha herself might have assisted in a breach of security. The session does not go beyond accusations and she will be released after an hour if nothing suspicious surfaces.

At 1500 Matt Farrell will be pulled from his Encryption job and interrogated by Internal Security for information about Abbie Mills and her recent actions. It will be implied that he might have assisted her in a breach of security. The session will not go beyond accusations and he will be released within thirty minutes if nothing suspicious surfaces.

At 1530 Maria Hill will be pulled from her post as a surveillance operative for interrogation by Internal Security. She will not return to her station.

At 1600 Ray Palmer will be pulled from his Equipment Control position and interrogated by Internal Security about his mission with Abbie Mills on Daycycle 2. He will be asked if she acted strangely or displayed traitorous signs at that point. If nothing useful comes out of the interview, he will be released within thirty minutes.

At 1700 Parker will be pulled from her position as an Infiltration Consultant and will be told to report to Medical Services. There she will be evaluated for the possibility of a medication adjustment. If the physician finds no need to medicate he will give her a stamped note to return to her supervisor. If he does recommend medication it will be administered onsite.

EVENING

The Strobe, part dance club and part testbed for new power technologies, has reopened after an unfortunate closing of three months to rebuild after a terrible core meltdown. Many of the the Wagon Wheels residents are flocking out to the reopening to enjoy ear deafening music, seizure inducing light shows and overpriced drinks in test tubes.

Sleep aid gas is expelled into the sleeping quarters at 2100.

Maecenas was intrigued by the ease with which she returned the gesture, either she was not easily confused or he'd unintentionally struck upon something that was still commonplace, though it was intriguing that it now seemed to have extended to women as well. The latter seemed more likely to him, after all, she was the one who'd stuck out her hand first.

"Grow up here?" he snorted, glancing around the place "Certainly not. I've only been here for a day or two." he waved a hand dismissively and reached for his drink. Imagine having grown up in such a dull and plebeian place, the thought almost makes him shudder. It was nothing compared to the glory of Rome, despite the enhanced technology.

"I hail from Rome." he added, recognising that she was attempting small talk and wishing to offer something of his own. Besides, he was proud of his heritage, despite them trying to tell him it wasn't really real. "And yourself?" he couldn't imagine anybody as charming and pretty as her growing up here either.

Lydia smirked and huffed a soft laugh. "Yeah, well that makes two of us. There's bound to be someone around here who's from here, though, right?" she asked. At least, it stood to reason. Someone was making the "clones," if one actually believed that they were clones and not...something a bit more sinister.

Taking another sip of her drink, Lydia lifted her eyebrows and smiled around the lip of the glass when he said he was from Rome. Ancient Rome, more like, she thought. But that was kind of cool, actually; she had a million questions for him that she bit back to keep from being rude, but maybe another time she'd unload them on him. She'd always loved when they learned about ancient Rome in history classes.

"California," she replied breezily. Not that I remember it being a very nice place... she thought, but did not add. "So what's it like in Rome, anyway?"

"You would think so," he agreed, gaze flicking around at the people gathered in the club "But it seems to me that the only interesting people are the ones who aren't, don't you think?" The whole place was interesting, he definitely wanted to know more about it, but in terms of individual people... it was like looking at a legion, almost everybody in it was just another face, so few of them had the power to make a difference, to catch his attention. Everybody who did.. they were special. It just so happened that they were called special as well.

"California... I don't believe I've ever heard of it," he admitted, which was strange. He didn't exactly pour over maps the same way Octavian and Agrippa did, but he was still a close friend of the man who ruled half the known world, so wherever she was from it was nowhere near the empire. "Rome... Rome is the centre of the world. A bastion of art, culture and prosperity. At least, some parts of it are.." he smirked.

With a soft chuckle, Lydia cocked her eyebrows once and nodded, looking around the room again as she took another sip of her drink. That was pretty right on, if you asked her. So far, she'd been wholly unimpressed with the people she'd met with the sole exceptions of Barry, who seemed to feel the same way about the glitch as she did, and now Maecenas.

"That's...yeah," she replied, looking back at him with a little grin. "That's pretty accurate to my experience so far, as well," she agreed.

Nodding a little, Lydia gave a small shrug. "It's in America," she told him, although she doubted he'd heard of that, either, if he was from ancient Rome, the way she thought he probably was. "It's not important." She leaned her elbows onto the table and laced her fingers together, resting her chin on them as she listened. "I take it the part you're from, specifically?" she asked playfully. "I've always wanted to go, I just never got the chance." It was hard to travel the world when one was eighteen years old and always fighting for their right to live.

America... he hadn't heard of that either, but if she said it wasn't important he was happy to move on and talk more about himself - not that he wasn't going to file that information away for further research of course, you never knew when these little facts would come in handy, when the right piece of knowledge could turn the tables, and Maecenas always liked to have the right information.

"How perceptive of you," he smiled lazily "I would recommend it but... well," he waved a hand at their surroundings "They say all roads lead to Rome, but somehow I think that particular little idiom does not hold true in a place like this. You are, however, in luck," he leaned forward conspiratorially "I intend to bring a little of Rome here." His closest friend was, after all, the emperor, leader of their glorious republic, it was only fitting that he'd extend Rome's reach to... wherever this was.

"I pride myself on perceptiveness," she joked back with a smile. Lydia finished her drink, savoring the warmth that seemed to seep into her blood as she drained the alcohol. That was, admittedly, Lydia's favorite part about alcohol. That and the soft pink flush it always seemed to give to her cheeks and chest, not blotchy or dark, but just enough to give her a little more color and make her a little more glowing with radiance. At least, if you asked her.

Lydia's eyebrows lifted with interest. "Oh?" she asked, grinning a little and leaning forward to mirror him. "How so?" Lydia liked the idea of some classy culture being introduced to the apparently pretty gloomy culture in which she currently found herself.

Maecenas was definitely enjoying that pleasant flush, at least he was if the way his gaze drifted across her skin was any indication, he was definitely drinking in every inch of her that he could see, and if his arm oh-so-casually draped its way across the chair behind her when he leaned in, well, where else was he going to put it?

"Well the decor, for a start, that definitely needs improving... but I thought I might introduce a little poetry, some art perhaps, there's precious little of that to be found here. And wine, definitely wine." he drained the rest of his glass but his words only highlighted the problem, it was alcohol and beggars couldn't be choosers, but he didn't intend to be a beggar for long. He also intended there to be some more brothels about, perhaps encourage an orgy or two, but ladies were so sensitive to that kind of thing, it was better not to mention it until he was sure she was the type.

The revisions that Maecenas wanted to make had Lydia enraptured. Just the thought of a little bit of culture was enough, but she was painting a picture in her head of a tiny version of Rome floating around somewhere and she liked the idea of that a lot.

She smirked a little and nodded. "Definitely more wine," she agreed. Lydia couldn't help noticing that his glass was empty, too. "And now we'll both be parched," she said with a playful sort of disappointment, gesturing toward their empty glasses. "I wonder, does that mean another round is in order or whether it's a sign to call it a night and meet again another time...what say you?"
smirkinbackground: (Default)

[personal profile] smirkinbackground 2015-11-24 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)

"Oh, I don't think it should ever be a sign to leave when one's glass it empty, only when there is nothing left to refill it," Maecenas told her with a lazy smile, gaze flicking away from her for just a second to seek out another server and waving his empty glass in their direction to summon them over.

"Would you care for another?" He offered, nodding towards her own glass. It would be ungentlemanly of him to continue drinking without allowing her to do the same, and it was a little pathetic to drink alone - not that he wouldn't happily do so if he had no other choice, of course, but Maecenas was a man who enjoyed company.

Lydia grinned at the sentiment. "I happen to agree with that," she replied and, to his question she hums an affirmative to herself. "That would be awesome, yes, thank you," she added. She certainly wasn't going to turn her nose up at more free liquor, especially when she wasn't old enough to drink it in the first place.

"So I'm guessing none of this makes sense to you, either?" she asked, gesturing weakly at the surroundings. "This whole concept; this place," she added to clarify.

[personal profile] smirkinbackground 2015-11-25 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)

"Not even the tiniest bit," he admitted. He was drunk enough to not try and pretend he knew more than he did, and besides he thought she would prefer a bit of solidarity rather than superiority in this instance.

Once their glasses were refilled, he held his up to her in a toast.

"To... improvements, because the one thing we do know about this place is how much better it could be."

[personal profile] sanguinescry 2015-11-26 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
At least they all seemed to, so far, be on the same page. Lydia followed suit, raising her glass and nodded solemnly. "To improvements," she echoed with a small smile before clinking her glass against his.

Maecenas gave her a wicked grin as he brought his glass to his lips. He would certainly regret all this drink in the morning, but it was always worth it in the end for nights in good company such as this. Besides, that was a problem for the morning, tonight there was plenty to drink and terrible music and a beautiful woman who seemed to think a lot like him, and what more could he ask for? (...besides wine). ((Happy to fade to black and leave it there, I'm sure they'll run into each other again :D))
