Daycycle 4 [Nov 11-15]

DAYCYCLE 4

[NOV 11-15]

Mod Note: The RL Days to one IC Daycycle ratio is being changed from 3:1 to 5:1 as of this Daycycle. Each IC Daycycle from here on out will last five RL days. For months that have 31 days, this last day will be added to the sixth Daycycle for that month. (Ex: Dec 26-31st will be one Daycycle.).

MORNING

Troubleshooters in RM1102 will be woken up bright and early this morning as a squad of Internal Security Gray Ops come to arrest Abbie Mills for treason. She is taken from her assigned room and by the time that breakfast is over, all trace of her presence has been scrubbed. If one is to ask about the charges against her they will be told it is classified.

The majority of Troubleshooters seem a bit smug to learn of the first arrest of one of the Specials, though there are a few that actually seem a little more friendly. As if this somehow signifies that you aren’t all internal spies for The Computer. There are a few new faces this morning in the briefing huddle. Barry Allen, Gaius Maecenas and Lydia Martin were released from the Cloning center 24 hours ago and are joining the Special Troubleshooter ranks.

Today’s missions are more of the mundane nature, but as boring as they seem, they must be seen to.

Troubleshooter Team: Barry Allen & Lydia Martin

Mission: You are to deliver this 100-kilo spool of copper wire to the transformer station by transbot platform 12-YELLOW. The local quartermaster will sign for it. Be on the lookout for possible theft attempts. Intel indicates that the Free Enterprise group has been asking about copper materials as of late, most likely to aid some terrorist plot.

All other Troubleshooters: You are to report to your Service Firm positions for the day, until called on for Troubleshooter duty.

  • There was a recent security leak in Internal Security. The threat has been dealt with, but keep an ear open for anyone acting suspiciously in case they had accomplices. Report any and all forms of treason, even the possible intention of treason, immediately.

AFTERNOON

At 1400 Natasha Romanoff will be pulled from her Threat Assessment job and interrogated by Internal Security for information about Abbie Mills and her recent actions. It will be implied that Natasha herself might have assisted in a breach of security. The session does not go beyond accusations and she will be released after an hour if nothing suspicious surfaces.

At 1500 Matt Farrell will be pulled from his Encryption job and interrogated by Internal Security for information about Abbie Mills and her recent actions. It will be implied that he might have assisted her in a breach of security. The session will not go beyond accusations and he will be released within thirty minutes if nothing suspicious surfaces.

At 1530 Maria Hill will be pulled from her post as a surveillance operative for interrogation by Internal Security. She will not return to her station.

At 1600 Ray Palmer will be pulled from his Equipment Control position and interrogated by Internal Security about his mission with Abbie Mills on Daycycle 2. He will be asked if she acted strangely or displayed traitorous signs at that point. If nothing useful comes out of the interview, he will be released within thirty minutes.

At 1700 Parker will be pulled from her position as an Infiltration Consultant and will be told to report to Medical Services. There she will be evaluated for the possibility of a medication adjustment. If the physician finds no need to medicate he will give her a stamped note to return to her supervisor. If he does recommend medication it will be administered onsite.

EVENING

The Strobe, part dance club and part testbed for new power technologies, has reopened after an unfortunate closing of three months to rebuild after a terrible core meltdown. Many of the the Wagon Wheels residents are flocking out to the reopening to enjoy ear deafening music, seizure inducing light shows and overpriced drinks in test tubes.

Sleep aid gas is expelled into the sleeping quarters at 2100.

"Yeah, I picked up on that," Barry said, glancing around the room. "It's like I've done something to personally offend every person here. Usually that takes a day or two."

Barry raised his eyebrows. Even without his speed, he still had a big appetite and this breakfast wasn't going to cut it. "Yeah? Anything decent?"

"Trust me, its not you it's them. There's something off about most of them. Apparently we are cheating the system." He shook his head at that and pulled his ME card out of his pocket, waving it between his fingers.

"Did they give you one of these, yet?"

Barry dug into his own pocket and produced his card, holding it up to mirror Bucky's. "Works like store credit the way I understand it," he says, looking at Bucky. "Though I figured just like the coal companies, they'd have the store prices fixed to keep us as broke as possible."

Maybe it was an assumption on his part, but this place didn't seem beyond keeping people down. Especially if what he'd heard about the treatment of the infrareds were true.

"They might but at least the drinks didn't seem that bad. I purchased a first aid kit and some supplies for a pretty small amount considering what they put on these cards so far." Bucky replies with a shrug. He was not sure how credits related to American money, but so far it seemed like he was wealthier than he had ever been in his life.

"We can find out together, because I could use a change in diet for a while. I think I might be turning my insides more red than normal with these blocks." Bucky really was not a fan of red. He leads Barry to the part of the Commissary where he made his first purchase, and against his better judgement, orders them both food on his card.

It's worth it to make a potential new ally in this complex of not so positive relations. @ Bouncy Bottle Beverages, 2 Hot funs, and a chocolate bar to split later and he's down 16 credits and staring at the food alternatives, wondering if the chocolate is at least not made of whatever soylent RED is made of.

"Who wants to test the potential poison first?"

Barry lets out a little sigh of a laugh at Bucky's comment about the food and follows him willingly to the Commissary. He has no idea what to order and is relieved when Bucky does it for him, though he makes a mental note to pay him back.

"If it's chocolate flavored poison, it's better than the other stuff," Barry said, looking at the foodstuffs Bucky has purchased. "What exactly is so fun about hot fun?"
offtherail: (We're playing for the same team)

[personal profile] offtherail 2015-12-04 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess that's something we get to find out." At the very least, the food doesn't kill either of them, though Bucky remains uncertain Hot Fun is much of an improvement on Soylent Red. All of the food in the complex so far just served to remind him of military rations on the field.

He split the chocolate even between the two of them. It was the much needed 'treat; to finish off a meal in the complex and in his opinion, credits well spent. Over all it was the most enjoyable lunch he had had since he found himself in the complex, if only for the company of a non combative individual who knew how to actually smile at occasional intervals.

"Up to you on whether spending the credits is worth it, but it's good to know we have some alternatives, at least. I think there are other options. They aren't the most charming people to deal with when it comes to asking questions, but if you can come up with specifics they come through now and then."

"Definitely worth it," Barry said, polishing off the last of his piece of chocolate. It was the most edible thing he'd seen as of yet. "It's just a shame one can't live off of chocolate bars alone." Not that he wouldn't be willing to try.

"I don't really know how I feel about the hot fun, but it's better than anything that starts with the word soylent." He looked at Bucky giving him his best Charles Heston impression. "Soylent green is peopleeee!"

He smiled unsurely and then cleared his throat. "Anyway, thank you."

"Soylent Green is what?" There was the problem with their food sharing the name of a popular culture food Bucky knew nothing about. The only Soylent foods he knew of were the ones served in the commissary, and if Soylent Green was people, what the hell was soylent red? The 70s were well beyond his time and the reference went over his head, leaving him certain Barry knew things he didn't.

"What do you mean it's people."

[personal profile] runsonwater 2015-12-08 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Barry looked at Bucky with surprise, his mouth opening and closing when he realized that he didn't know the reference. Though, maybe he should be worried that Bucky seemed to think that this could be a real possibility.

"Oh, no. It's a line from a movie. See, there's this stuff made of plankton, but the oceans are dying and people find out... " He pauses. "Actually, it's not important. It's just fiction."
offtherail: (It was you who was wildest)

[personal profile] offtherail 2015-12-10 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Bucky wasn't so sure it was fiction. He stared at Barry a moment longer and went back to drinking the beverage when he finally looked away. Their conversation would stick with him long after they parted ways. And it would unsettle him for days to come if not longer.

"Fiction and reality do not seem that far apart here, don't you think." The words were spoken under his breath in case anyone was listening in. He straightened and cleared his throat after, taking a pill with the last of his drink.

"What were you before this? Soldier? Student?"

[personal profile] runsonwater 2015-12-11 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Bucky had a point, but Barry really didn't want to think about the soylent being anything but... soylent. Okay, now he should probably investigate just to clear his own mind.

"I know that a lot of people seem to accept fiction as fact," he acknowledged, watching Bucky take a pill with his drink.

"Forensic Analyst for the Central City Police Department," he said. "What about you?"

"Sergeant Barnes, US Army, 107th Infantry Division." He was starting to understand people were not brought to the complex unskilled. It seemed everyone he had met had a set of talents the complex could use in some way.

Bucky kept his eye on the various uniforms around them. RED and InfaRed mostly, it seemed, and that always seemed the case. The coloured uniforms and separation reminded him of something he didn't think it was wise to voice, and he kept his voice low.

"Keep your head down while you learn how to survive in this place. You have more enemies than friends here by default. This may look like a city but it's a city in a time of war." Barry wasn't a soldier but if Bucky kept his eye on the young man he planned to make him one in at least some aspects. The people who called the complex home were not allies in his eyes. They were potential threats and hazards.

He might have sounded a little bit like a conspiracy hack, except that Barry had seen enough of the Complex to have gotten the same feeling. People weren't friendly and from what he'd overheard, there were more than one faction fighting for power.

He nodded slowly, taking Bucky's words to heart. "I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for showing me around."
