Daycycle 110 [ October 2 - October 8]

daycycle 110

[Oct 2 - Oct 8]

Early, Early Morning [0400 - 0800]
Lydia Martin will be woken up at 0400 when a squad of Internal Security Gray Ops come to arrest Samantha Groves for treason. Root will be led away at gun point and Lydia will be immediately taken into IntSec for questioning. She will be grilled for the next four hours on Root's activites and her own loyalty. She will not be released until the Early Morning briefing.

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

It is announced that there will be a mandatory ceremony for all Troubleshooters this evening in the Commissary. Not attending is treason.

There is no Mission assigned to any Specials Today.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

At 1200 explosives planted by the Frankenstien Destroyers will detonate in the Bot Processing division. The goal is to destroy as many bots as processing equipment as possible. These explosions will cause significant damage to the division and temporarily lock down part of R&D. Troubleshooters will be called to the scene to help clean up and assist citizens caught in the blast.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1800 in the Commissary and will be hosted by Internal Security. This ceremony is to recognize the hard work and dedication of the Troubleshooters who have gone above and beyond in their service to Alpha Complex. The following specials will be promoted a clearance level for their work: Jillian Holtzmann, promoted to ORANGE for her work in explosives, Lydia Martin, promoted to YELLOW for her work in hygeine, and Matt Murdock, promoted to GREEN for his work in Personal Legal Defensive Practices. A mandatory round of clapping will be held for three minutes for each promotion.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Her calm also adds a certain amount of levity to an otherwise jarring situation. He instinctively draws in a deep breath through his nose, trying to secretly smell her and see if she smells like wolf, vamp or other, but that sense is gone too. Everything, all the positives, all the things that could alert him to danger back home, has been stripped away from him. He feels raw and not at all like himself.

"Probably not." He says with a slight shake of his head. If she offered to pinch him, that means it probably wouldn't work to shake him out of this if it's a nightmare.

Alcide realizes he's still holding onto her hand, his large one making her small hand disappear in his, long after the expiration date of any decent handshake. Is he still overly warm? Probably not. He thinks he can feel a slight chill, as a matter of fact. Alcide has never been cold so he can't be sure, not really.

He smirks and makes himself let go. "Sorry. I'm not thinkin' straight. So what do you think of this place?"
whattingawhat: (IDK)

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-05 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
See, that's good. At least she can help that way. The smelling thing, always weird, but in an odd way, Buffy would find it comforting as well. At least it's familiar. She still feels the same way, incomplete and (at times) helpless. She fights against that last feeling in particular. She never wants to feel helpless and her experience has taught her that she never is, even when she feels it.

If this is a nightmare, it's the most in depth one she's ever had. Everything about it has a realistic, gritty feel. She's long decided that this is real, but so are her memories. She had another life before this, a better one.

It's okay. She doesn't mind having him hold her hand. He's gorgeous, for one, and if it comforts him, a little hand holding hasn't hurt anyone as far as she knows. He feels like a normal human temperature.

She shakes her head a little, dismissing his apology then sobers a bit at his question. "It's a bad dream? It contradicts itself. The other specials are nice though. For the most part."

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2016-10-06 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't miss that 'for the most part' bit. And he'll take that to heart. Alcide is always a little cautious in his approach to people. Now, if someone is approaching him, he'll deal with it on a case by case basis. But very much like a wolf, he likes to watch and observe before approaching strangers, get a feel for what and who he's dealing with.

"How do you tell who's Special or not?" It may seem like a stupid question, but Alcide missed whatever orientation he was supposed to have. Something happened in his processing that dumped him right into the mix without any of that. He doesn't even know he's supposedly a clone. "Am I a Special?"

Alcide doesn't like having to ask all these questions. But so far Buffy seems nice enough and he has so many of them that he can't help himself. He can't help himself to the point of spilling the most pertinent question on his mind. "You ever hear of anybody comin' here and... and they ain't like they was before? Like... a part of 'em's missin'."

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-12 01:14 am (UTC)(link)

Honestly, everyone she's met has been pretty nice, a little wary in some cases, but who could blame them. She just doesn't want to give a new guy a blanket 'everyone is nice' and then it turn out some people aren't. Case by case basis is a good way to deal with anyone, particularly here where you're not sure of loyalties and the like.

"Just looking at them, you can't know. It's the people that didn't grow up here. The people that have 'glitches'." He can probably hear the air quotes around the word glitches. She smiles at his question and nods. "I'm assuming so. I haven't seen you here until now. You just woke up in this place this morning?" She's not going to tell him the clone stuff, because she doesn't believe it, though it would make it easier. If she were a clone that would mean 'real' her is still back home.

Buffy doesn't mind the questions. She asked them all at one point too. She steps closer at his question, voice dropping a little. "only all the time. It seems to be an epidemic. Count me in as one of them." She tilts her head a little at him. "Any idea what parts you're missing?"

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2016-10-12 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, just woke up, got sent to work." He didn't get the treatment and explanation that most people get. He was just thrown into the deep end. From one frying pan back home into this new frying pan. Sookie had just lied to him and run off with Bill (again). Alcide's heart is in knots over that betrayal. And now... now he's lost half of himself, the wolf half. He's decided to focus on the latter.

Her admission that she has a part of herself missing too makes exhale a breath he'd been holding. He's not the only one that feels as if his insides have been carved out. "The wolf parts." He whispers to her, hoping that she won't be afraid of him. After all, he's effectively been separated from that even if he isn't a violent wolf unless he has to be. "You?"
whattingawhat: (How's that working for you?)

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-13 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
That causes Buffy's eyebrows to shoot up. "Harsh. At least I got a day to deal with the culture shock." Things were just getting good with her and Spike back home. Now she's here and she doesn't know how she feels about that. Maybe it would be better to arrive heartbroken. Regardless, it probably is better to focus on other things.

She moves even closer when he confesses that he's (was) a werewolf. "So they're going to give you a bulletproof vest," she says in a normal tone of voice for anyone watching then drops her voice to a whisper. "The parts that protect people from violent werewolves and vampires." She doesn't say it threateningly though. "They played nice, so did I." In case she hadn't already made that clear. She's the thing monsters have nightmares about back home, but only if she has to be.

"They'll also give you a weapon. I'd like to say we usually do patrols, but lately we've been called to a lot of riot-y type things." Again in a normal tone of voice. She stays close to him though.

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2016-10-14 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Alcide's kind of pissed that he didn't get that day to acclimate. But now he has a pretty girl giving him the score on this place, so maybe it turned out okay in the end. This is his focusing on other things. Truth be told, Alcide would rather dwell on getting his wolf back because that's what he is, not was.

"Bullet proof vests are good." Because he might usually be very strong and fast, but bullets still kill. "You're on border patrol too?"

He gets that she's saying she kills his kind. But there's something else there. Alcide has seen plenty of malice from humans against shifters in his world. But she has none of that deep-seeded blind hatred that the human 'activists' have. "I always try to play nice." Unlike a good majority of his kind who give themselves over to the wolf half rather than the human half. The point is, he doesn't want her to have to protect anyone from him.

"Riots against... the computer?" He asks, almost hopeful that there are people trying to set themselves to right that he can join in on. His voice is low again. "There are people fighting this?"
whattingawhat: (Listening)

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-14 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Buffy doesn't blame him. She'd be kind of ticked too. She's not sure that extra day had been beneficial to helping her deal with this place, but at least she'd gotten a few more hours to cope, to learn about this place.

She nods. "Yeah, they're heavy and stiff, but safety first," she chirps. It's obvious she doesn't like the vests. She's not used to fighting in one and it's uncomfortable, but she understands the need for it, especially as she doesn't have her healing, speed, resilience or strength.

"Good," she smiles at him. She doesn't hate werewolves or vampires or demons. In fact, she pretty much, historically, likes supernatural beings. She hates it when they try to destroy the world or hurt others.

She makes a face that says 'eh sort of'. "I think that depends on the group and point of view. One day they put chips in people's heads so they could control them. They made 'improvements' like giving a blind guy vision implants. Another one shot up half the place and destroyed things. They ended up shooting a few people, mostly higher clearance levels. They stole some weapons. They knocked the power out and disabled the back up generators. None of it seems to have done anything to the computer, but a lot of people have suffered."

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2016-10-15 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Alcide is slowly gathering information about this place as he goes. And maybe it's good that he hasn't had time to cope. He feels like if he stops even for a second, he'll lose his cool. He's been altered and that pisses him off. For as much as he fights his wolf, he's pissed that anyone would take it from him.

He'll probably forego the vests. Wolves don't much care for being encumbered in any way. He usually heals quicker than the ordinary joe as well. It's hard not to let a different mentality than what he's always had take over right away.

She smiles at him and he gives her a crooked smile back. It probably would have been a shame if they had to be enemies right off the bat before he had a chance to explain himself.

Alcide takes in all this information, the good and the bad, and tries to process it all. "So maybe they're trying to cause damage to get to the computer." People dying isn't good, but Alcide knows it's also a price you pay for change of any kind. His home is going through a change, a big change, and lots of people are dying as people accept a new reality. "Have people tried to get in on the medical facilities, see if they can figure out what they did to us? See if it can be reversed?"

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-15 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)

Buffy has been here a week and she's still gathering information about this place. She's pretty sure that's an ongoing process here. It does help to keep busy, to keep gathering information. It helps one to feel in control and there's so much here that they can't control. Buffy certainly hasn't come to terms with her powers being taken away, but she's not pissed about it most of the time anymore.

She'd felt the same way, but Steve had insisted and she's been feeling a little fragile lately without her powers. She's learning how to fight in it, how to cope with the loss of her slayerness.

See, that's a good smile. What is it with guys and crooked smiles? Or maybe Buffy is just a sucker for them. It makes her stomach feel fizzy in the best sort of what. She's definitely glad they aren't starting off as enemies, especially since he looks like that. Plus, he seems like a good guy.

"Maybe?" she half agrees. "I just think they're going about it the wrong way. Everything everyone seems to be doing is either directly harmful to the people that live here, like the involuntary surgery and brain chips, or it makes things more difficult for people, like the mass destruction of property. The only one that made sense to me if that's their goal, was the power thing, but it didn't seem to phase the computer." Buffy understands that change sometimes requires casualties. She doesn't like it, but she understands it. She's been responsible for enough lives that she gets it. Her voice drops and if Alcide will let her, she'll turn him so his back is facing the camera and she's in front of him. This way, the only view the camera is getting of his back. She puts her hand on his shoulder and tiptoes so that she can whisper and be certain he'll hear her. Anyone looking at the camera, probably just thinks she's flirting. Being this close, she's also really grateful for Lydia's citrus lotions and soaps. She wants to smell pretty when close to a cute guy, okay? Sue her. "Yeah. There's some genius guy working on giving us everything back. There's a lot of us here that are missing powers. His name is Barry."

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2016-10-15 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Everything she tells him makes sense to him. Even if he doesn't want it to make sense, it does. Alcide would have hoped people would have made headway in getting their 'otherness' back to the way it should be. He never would have thought that not having his wolf half would have affected him so negatively. It's surprising. It's a revelation that forces him to look at and accept himself in a new light.

Even without his heightened sense of smell, Alcide can smell that citrus scent when Buffy moves closer to him and turns him away from something. He doesn't look back, because he gets the idea that they're being watched somehow back there. In fact, he dips his head and leans in closer to her with a hand at the small of her back so that they look like a couple trying to have some privacy rather than two conspirators.

He'd noticed how pretty she is before. But now, he's confronted with that even more so. He likes that smell, the way her frame is so much smaller than his, the lilt of her voice. He barely stops himself from growling low, just barely. He's thankful he doesn't embarrass himself like that because without his wolf side there would be no excuse for it. Growling, in both good and bad ways, is a habit though, it's natural.

It's a relief to know that someone is at least looking at the medical angle. Best Alcide can see, that's their best bet. "How far is he in? I ain't so good with medical jargon, but I could hold people off if he needed time to look into somethin'."

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-15 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)

Buffy is hoping that it's something they eventually figure out here as well. Buffy has spent a little bit of time without her powers and it's taken her a decade to accept her powers, but now that she has, she'd like to keep them thank you very much. She's having a rough time accepting herself without them, remembering that she's not helpless just because she can no longer pick up a small car or hit a target blind-folded.

She likes that he picks up where she's going with this. Flirting while on the job might be frowned upon, but they're both REDs and it's not illegal. Talking about overthrowing the computer and filling Alcide in on all the dirt in this place, that's definitely illegal.

Honestly, this is a fairly innocent interaction on her part. She doesn't think it's fair that he's been dumped into this without so much as getting to see the video, but she'd be lying if she said it was a hardship to be this close to him. Sadly (or fortunately) growling wouldn't be something Buffy would even blink an eye about. She'd probably flippantly tell him 'down boy'. It's pretty common in her romantic relationships. Not that this is romantic, or a relationship. She's just saying. She's not even opposed to either of the latter. Maybe. Not that this is the best time or place for anything like romance and relationships. It's--oh hell. How does she even get herself into these things?

"I don't know. He's been working on it longer than I've been here, which is only a week. I think it's a pretty long term project." Buffy has no idea how they're doing it. Her first thought had been drug suppression, but in talking with Derek, she's pretty much crossed that off the list. She hasn't talked to Barry enough about what he's doing to see what his thoughts on it were. Besides that, she probably wouldn't understand it.

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2016-10-16 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
"This Barry got a last name? I'd like to talk to him." He asks, dipping his head enough so that his lips are in her hair as he speaks, his voice a low rumble. It's an added bonus that he gets another inhale of her shampoo. He can even imagine that he smells that scent that is uniquely her just as he would were he his full self right now.

Really, he's in no spot to think a girl is pretty or to want to smell her and know her scent or to get to know her better or anything like that. He's just out of a jilted relationship that he refuses to analyze right now. He's just been kidnapped (can adults be kidnapped?) by a maniac computer and somehow stripped of the wolf bits of him. He has to get the wolf back. And yet, here he is, thinking Buffy is pretty and that she smells good and wanting to know about her.

What was it he once told Sookie? What if your heart keeps telling you to do the same stupid shit over and over again?

"You smell good." Yep... same stupid shit. Alcide makes himself pull back and shove his hands in his pockets. It's easier this way. Maybe he won't be so stupid. "So this is what we do every day. We work, eat and sleep.. like slaves."
whattingawhat: (Beautiful girl)

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-16 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
She nods a little, aware of how close he is. "Allen," she says. "Just be careful where you say anything to him. There are places where the cameras are out. Not many, but a few. I can show you the dark spots sometime," she whispers back to him.

Buffy isn't in any place to consider any of the above either, but it's hard to concentrate with him close. She and Spike are in the middle of something that might be really good, something that had been a long time coming, but also something that feels very far away right now. (She thinks it's called abducted when you're an adult and usually done by aliens, which is a possibility here) Buffy is a little more accustomed to the place, a little more settled and (if it weren't for everything else) a little more prepared for thinking a hot guy is hot. However, she's on board with the getting the specialness of everyone that has specialness back. It would make this place easier to deal with and possibly easier to take over. So they're agreed: this is just an act and neither of them will be thinking about anything more than playacting for the camera. Good thing they've got that settled.

His compliment flusters her because it's so very much something someone with special senses would pick out and, therefore, so very familiar. It would be so easy to fall back into the 'same stupid shit' (as he says). She blushes, cheeks flaring pink as she ducks her head. "It's Lydia's shampoo and soap. A whole...I'm a tester for it. I'll let her know you like the smell. It's citrus. She has a clean scent, citrus and boy. No. Not boy smell." Cue more flustered. "I just meant--I was...sorry. Distracted."

Yeah, it's better when he pulls away. She nods a little at his words, brows raising a little. "Not like slaves. Like productive, happy members of society," she chirps too brightly. "Xnay on the lavesay peaksay," she tells him.

Surely Alcide speaks pig latin!

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2016-10-16 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
To be honest, Alcide has never been in control of his emotions in regard to who his heart decides to like. One thing he's very good at though, is following his heart. He's always done that, both good and bad, no matter where it leads him. So he'll have to watch that here. He knows that that quality can be both a coo and a flaw. Alcide is very flawed in that way usually. Even when he should stop, he doesn't.

"Yeah, distracted." Alcide takes another step back for good measure and pushes a large hand back through his shaggy locks.

When she speaks pig latin, lets just say that Alcide doesn't pick up on it. He looks at her like she's speaking Russian or German and slightly shakes his head to show that he doesn't understand what she's saying, except maybe that he shouldn't call a duck a duck and say the word slavery.

"They got me in room 1104. Got any idea where those rooms are?" He asks, switching the topic so that he doesn't say the 's' word again.
whattingawhat: (Bwah huh?)

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-16 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Buffy is much better at controlling her emotions than Alcide, which isn't to day she's good at it, but she's had some practice controlling them. It's really not good to fall apart when you have a dozen teenage girls looking to you for guidance. Of course, that sort of falling apart has nothing to do with the following your heart sort of emotion, which Buffy often does even when she knows it's going to end in heartbreak. She's notorious for making poor relationship choices.

The space between them is good. It's Alcide's first day here. He's confused and vulnerable. She was just picking up on that, that's all.

It's pretty clear that he doesn't understand what she just said, but he gets the point so there's no need to step closer and whisper to him. Besides, they're supposed to be working and she's supposed to be showing him the ropes, not making everything worse.

Her eyebrows arch up and a grin slips across her face. "Actually, I know exactly where that room is. Hello, Roomie. I'll walk you there tonight after dinner?"

[personal profile] rouxgaroux 2016-10-17 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, that's surprising. He's sharing a room with a girl he hardly knows? This girl? Buffy? Well... okay then. He wonders if it's just them or if there will be more people in the room. He wonders how they decide who to put in which rooms with who. It crosses his mind that this will probably be a social experiment. He feels like he's the at in a cage in the experiment analogy. It's a not a good feeling.

The positive here is that he's sharing a room with someone who seems trustworthy enough. Buffy has proven to be informative and helpful. He's grateful for that. It also helps that she's so easy on the eyes.

"Yeah, that'd be helpful. Thanks." He says. "Not just for that but... for givin' me the score here, some of it anyway."
whattingawhat: (Default)

[personal profile] whattingawhat 2016-10-17 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)

Yeah, the co-ed thing usually gets people. They always expect to be roomed by gender. Honestly, Buffy isn't sure how they choose to room people. In some ways, this very much resembles a social experiment. However, it doesn't have a lot of the things in it you'd expect in a social experiment, like any sort of normal environment.

Buffy is pretty pleased with her new room mate as well. It's been she and Derek since Holtz was promoted and she'd been happy enough with that. They'd struck up a good friendship.

"No problem," Buffy tells him sincerely. "It's rough here at first, but you'll learn the ropes soon enough. Derek is our other room mate and he's a good guy, a good friend."
