Mostly, Katniss would rather be dead. She'd rather be dead than try to puzzle any of this out. She'd rather be dead than live with these memories. The memories of her sister dying because of Katniss' actions. Or the memories of all the people she's killed. If she can't be dead, then she'd accept the memories being a mistake. She'd rather be anyone else but Katniss Everdeen. Dealing with her demons just seems too difficult.
Buffy appears as non-threatening as possible but Katniss still can't bring herself to trust the girl in front of her. There are people like that. People who save other people without expecting anything in return. Those people are rare though and Katniss has a hard time believing that the odds could actually be in her favor.
She nearly scowls at Buffy. Somehow she manages to stop herself mid-way. But her tone isn't entirely nice. "What do you want in return?"
