Daycycle 104 [ August 21-27 ]

daycycle 104

[Aug 21 - Aug 27]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty
There is no Mission assigned to any Specials today.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

At approximately 1400 today all power within the Wagon Wheel will shut down as part of a Nameless Secret Society Demonstration. The backup generators will be disabled. All citizens within the Wagon Wheel at that time will be stuck. Locked doors will remain locked. Elevators will stop. Lights will go out. Many opportunists will use this to create pure chaos. This demonstration will go on for the next five hours.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 2000 in Meeting Room B, Wagon Wheel Floor 25 and will be hosted by the Spontaneous Loyaly Demonstration Organizers. Learn how to put on a spontaneous demonstration in order to show your loyalty to the computer and Alpha Complex in an effective and memorable way.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Lydia settles herself behind the table, ready to duck for cover behind it when needed, but she makes sure that there's a clear path for Barry before she does. He'll be cutting it close as it is, but he'll be cutting it even closer if there's something tripping him up and in his way.

"Okay," she agrees, watching as he moves toward the door with the final component. Her stomach is tied in nervous knots hoping to hell that he doesn't end up hurting himself doing this. She'll feel terrible.

As Barry starts pouring, Lydia takes in a sharp breath and doesn't realize right away that she's holding it. She scoots over quickly, letting the breath out with relief as Barry gets himself behind the table safely and she braces herself against the underside of the table in case the explosion throws furniture in their direction. If she's pressed up against it already, then it can't get pushed back into her with a blunt force that could potentially do a lot of damage.

It takes a few seconds and Lydia's starting to worry that maybe she's mixed it incorrectly or that the components weren't as concentrated as she'd anticipated when she'd been putting it together, but as Barry starts to speak, finally the chemical reaction sets in motion and the noise that fills the room -- not to mention the fact that it actually feels like the room shook a little -- startles a gasp out of her.

Her eyes shift to Barry, but he seems okay. "Okay, oh God, we can't run until we get to the hall, can we?" she breathes, because standing up means moving directly into that smoke and that can't be good for their lungs. "Come on. Come on," she insists, crawling on both knees and one hand while her other hand lights the way with the PDC in her hand.

Steve’s lips curl into a smile. “Follow me.”

If Oliver asks, Steve will be frank with him. Armed Forces wasn’t on the tour because the Alpha Complex is too big. The only real points he hits up are the places Oliver needs to know about to successfully get through his first day. Everything else falls behind in priority after that.

“I can tell you a little more about the subsections as we walk. Most of the tour is in the Wagon Wheel. I can talk about it more when we get there.”

There’s purposefully two meanings to that sentence. Oliver will just have to figure out which one is the right one a little later.

At this point, they've walked down one of the main halls and out onto what actually feels like a street. Though if Oliver looked up and paid close enough attention, he’d be able to tell that the night sky wasn't quite real.

"Subsectors like this are between each of the main sectors. This way."

The rest of the details Steve have to offer are vague. Subsections were built in between each of the main complexes and now serve as residential and recreational areas for Citizens. Nightclubs, restaurants, anything you’d normally expect in a city. Except you must be BLUE or above to live here. That means not even Steve has that kind of clearance, so he’s a little fuzzy on the details.

When the confrontation begins, Steve only shouts orders if someone in their squad starts falling behind or needs backup. For the most part, everyone seems capable of handling themselves. He stays closer to the back, and to their portable generators, to help the two Troubleshooters assigned to protecting them.

A certain voice yelling “Sorry” as she billy-clubs people in the head however, does manage to catch his attention. That’s when he sees Buffy get hit and her body hits the ground. “Get up,” he whispers under his breath as he flips an incoming attacker over his shoulder, before turning to look back in her direction.

There she was again. And again. And again. Steve can’t help but shake his head and smile. Perhaps he’s misjudged her.

Getting up to the 17th floor is a mixture of complicated and agonizing, however. It doesn’t help that they’re carrying two large machines with them, and given Steve’s lack of super-serum strength, he certainly can’t do it alone. Eventually however, they do get there.

“Summers and Smith,” he starts, motioning for Buffy and one other Troubleshooter to go first. “When we pull open the door, I want you to cover as much ground as possible on this floor. Find out exactly where the riot is happening. Count the number of civilians involved. Return immediately. Do not engage. Understood?”

There were over a dozen different departments that belong to Internal Security on this floor. The last Steve heard, Forensics was hearing the most in their hallways, but that intel was old.

Steve would have been blind not to see the rune. It caught his eye once before, but both then and now, he chooses not to say anything. For all Steve knows, it was just a tattoo. When they get to know each other a little better, he might bring it up. But right now, it wasn’t the right time.

He smiles, eyes momentarily glancing away and returning to her, when Izzy starts working the nuances out of what he’s told her.

“This isn’t concrete, but if it helps- someone I remember, someone from before I woke up here- “ Steve shakes his head just once. “- showed up yesterday. From what I can tell, he and I have the same memories."

It wasn’t concrete, because shared memories could be fabricated, but it was something.

When she’s admits to being done for the day, he can’t blame her. They’ve covered a lot of ground over the past half hour or so, and with everything she was adjusting to, this was probably all overwhelming.

“Anytime.” He gives her a good, hard look before adding, “Then it’s time for the last time. Let me show you what floor you’ll be staying on.” He gestures back down the hall, towards where they should have gone a few minutes ago.

Izzy smiles, even if it's a small one it's something. She can't help but find some comfort in even something that isn't concrete. If someone that Steve remembers from before can show up here then someone that she knows, and remembers, can show up. Maybe her brother, maybe someone else that she's familiar with. Though, she's not sure that she can really hope for that, considering this place is more than a little confusing. "It does help, Steve, thank you."

Izzy gives a nods. Nothing here really seems concrete. The lies make it hard to actually figure out what's real, what isn't, and everything in between. She suspects that's part of the plan that they've got. They don't want the clones, them, to become dangerous. It seemed all the more real. And that was comforting, even if she didn't have any real proof.

Izzy wants to believe though. She's going to focus on that over everything else. She's going to manage here just fine because she's got to.

"I'll hold you to that." Izzy jokes, lightly, before nodding. She's not sure what to think about where she's going to be staying, but getting there means the end of the tour. It means that she's going to have some time to digest after the influx of information and she'll take it. "Thanks, Steve." Izzy says, not sure that she's really thanked him for the tour, for the help, enough as she moves to head back down the hall so that she can see where she's going to be during her time here.

She's certainly been welcomed to Alpha Complex, now she's just got to thrive here and figure things out.

He talks about stimulating minds as if it's a right that everyone deserves. It's that same idealism that Gansey would talk with. But not everyone has that right. Not everyone can afford to go to a fancy four year college and get a real education. Some people are just doomed to be waitresses and postal workers and janitors. Rather than endearing her to his naive optimism, it just annoys. That has more to do with Blue than it does Cisco though. She misses Gansey a lot.

Maybe Cisco's just lucky?

"I still have a hard time believing I'll find the word in the Oxford Dictionary," Blue says slowly, her Henrietta drawl slipping in. Sorry Cisco; Blue's a sensible one. She has a sense of humor, really, but being stuck in the Alpha Complex is starting to destroy it. "Maybe cuckoo. And banana. But not together."

See? She can joke.

Buffy doesn't really hear those orders. She's wrapped up in the battle, wrapped up in the heat of it and she remembers that part of her that loved this, even if she hasn't got that part anymore (and is that how it works? or is it still suppressed? She's not even sure and wouldn't know who to ask).

It's only polite to apologize when you're billy-clubbing someone in the head! She thought about lying down. She thought about pretending that she was unconscious or just admitting defeat. After all, who could blame her? She's five foot four and weighs all of 115 pounds wet. She just couldn't do it. Even without super strength and speed, grace and agility, she still can't quit. She's never been good at it.

So she gets up. Again and again. She's aching and hurting and she'd like a hot bath, but instead she gets up and she does it all over again.

Really, Buffy would appreciate it if they could all have their strength back. That'd be super. Steve probably would too.

She's surprised when Steve gives her the order, trusts her enough to get away from him. She's also very pleased by that. She feels that wiggly, proud thing in the pit of her stomach that she used to feel when Giles got proud of her. She nods a little to let him know she hears him and she takes off, trying to avoid any sort of combat. It's harder than she imagined and once she literally has to put her hands in the air and play the tiny blonde card.

She returns with information: over a dozen citizens involved, still outside Forensics, but they've moved to security and some of the improvement wards, maybe trying to break someone out?

To that, Cisco shrugs a little and settles on his mattress, because he's fairly certain that the sleep aid is going to be released sooner than later and he'd rather not fall asleep in an uncomfortable position and wake up stiff and pissed off in the morning. "Well, nobody's perfect, Blue," he replies, yawning. "Give Oxford a break."

He turns his head to look back at her with a smirk. He can joke, too.

With a groan, he shifts on the mattress. "Seriously, these mattresses are the freaking worst to try to get comfortable on before the gas gets released. I've woken up stiff every morning so far. Not cool."

Barry lets out a small laugh of relief when the door goes off and neither of them are hurt. It seems like a small victory, but it's one that he's definitely going to put in the Alpha plus column. "I'm good," he says when Lydia looks at him with concern. He pats her on the shoulder as a double confirmation.

He grabs his own PDC and begins moving after her. The smoke isn't super heavy, but it definitely stings when he accidentally inhales it. The closer they get, the more Barry can see that the door not only blew outward inward several feet, but it also nearly crumpled in half from the explosion.

They make their way out into the hall, where the smoke is clearing. It's just as pitch black out here as it was in the lab. He can see the swirl of a few moving flashlights down the hall. "How about we take the stairs?"

Lydia only relaxes a little upon knowing that Barry's all right. The thing is, the whole situation is still more than a little unsettling, but at least she knows that he's okay, because that's just one less thing to worry about right now when there are plenty of other things to tackle.

She keeps as low to the ground as she comfortably can without compromising forward movement, because even though the smoke isn't thick or anything, it's still toxic and she knows she should be making an effort not to breathe in too much of it if she can avoid it. She's a little impressed that they both came out of this completely unscathed once she sees the door.

The hallway is just as dark as the lab had been and Lydia takes in a shaky breath and nods at his suggestion before realizing he probably can't see that. "Yeah. Yeah, the stairs are good." She pushes her way to her feet and keeps one hand on the wall to guide them forward. "You watch the hall, I'll get us to the stairs," she says, tucking her PDC into her jumpsuit and using her free hand to take his so that they don't lose each other. "Here goes nothing..."

Blue's not exactly a fan of the sleep aid - or any of the other drugs that seem to be in abundance here. It's caught her off guard more than once, and she's only been here a few nights in comparison to some of the others here. She notices him shift around in his bed and takes it as a sign that she should do the same. Out of pure contrariness, Blue doesn't want to. But he's right; waking up stiff isn't fun.

"There's always the floor," she points out unhelpfully as she lies on her back, tugging the blanket over part of her body. "Would you rather sleep there?"

A few moments later, after a little more tossing and turning, Cisco finds a spot where he's not contorted awkwardly to avoid being jabbed in the back or hip with a spring, because this mattress, seriously, is ass. Finally, he looks back at Blue as he pulls the blankets up around himself.

"Honestly? I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference," he says, only half joking. His eyes close in a slow blink and he hears the vents opening. "Welp. That's our cue. G'night Blue, happy gassing," he says in a flat tone that suggests sarcasm with little actual effort.
