Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1800 in the Commissary and will be hosted by the Alpha Chess Club. Come participate in the biggest (and only) Chess Tournament sanctioned by the Computer.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Lydia looks over at Matt, an endeared smile on her face in response to his question, and she's quiet for a moment while she revels in the fact that he cares so much about her safety. "I've been stealing from the forensics lab," she answers, "don't worry, handsome, I'm not proactively inviting trouble." ...yet.

"When we get out of here," she purrs, all too happy to move off the subject of how she's getting the materials for her projects, "I'll make it for you." The promise being set to a definite via when as opposed to if is intentional, because it's one of the few ways Lydia can stay sane: telling herself that this is all temporary; that they won't all be trapped in Alpha Complex forever.

She supposes, belatedly, that it makes sense that Matt wouldn't cook. Not that she thinks he'd be incapable, because she doesn't, she just wonders whether the reason he lives on takeout is because he's decided it isn't worth the hassle to do it on his own. "Well, I guess I'll have to do an awful lot of cooking, then, won't I?" she asks coyly, another thing she does on purpose to keep from letting this place get her down: implying that she and Matt have a future outside of this place. They've talked about it a little and she does genuinely mean to, but somehow saying things like that seem to cement it in her mind and that helps. It gives her more to look forward to than just getting out of Alpha Complex.

He surprises another laugh out of her with that comment and Lydia looks and sounds as surprised as she does amused when she responds. "Oh, that's how it is," she laughs, "I see."

When she hears what he's been working on, Lydia's eyebrows lift. "I could help you with that, sometimes," she offers. "If you want." It would give them another concrete excuse to be spending time alone, she thinks, while also being productive.

He'd rather avoid the pressure of trying to defend her, assuming he would be allowed to defend her. "Good," he tells her. He's all about inviting trouble and creating it, but he wants it to be smart. Besides, he'd hate to see her on some sort of drugs that makes her a different person, even only temporarily, and that's one of the easier punishments she could endure.

Matt is not as good at denial as Lydia is, but he's happy to play along with her. "It's a deal. I can't promise I've got the necessary cooking things, but I'll work on getting a collection." He understands the things that people do to keep themselves sane; he tries to focus on doing something good here, on not wasting this time. It's the only way that he stays sane.

It's more that he never really learned. He was young when his father died and it's not something they teach at the orphanage, though they probably should (and honestly, he's not sure if Lydia even knows where he grew up). He'd gone from there to college where he'd had a meal plan then to 'on his own' in New York City where takeout was plentiful. He'd never had to cook and now, it's probably not worth the hassle. Back home, cooking would be easy to do physically. Here, it's a different story. He grins, liking the idea of Lydia cooking for him like it's a real house and they're a normal couple. Maybe he'll do a better job of pretending today. "That or learn to like takeout," he jokes with her. He likes the idea of having a future with her outside of this place as well. It's certainly less bleak than his reality back home.

"Oh, that's exactly how it is," he assures her with a grin, pleased to make her laugh. "I thought that was common knowledge," he tells her in a faux confused voice, brow furrowing with that pretend confusion.

"Really?" He sounds surprised because he knows it's boring work, reading aloud while he records it. Unfortunately, this place has yet to provide him copies of the texts in braille. "If you'd got the time, I'd much rather enjoy listening to your voice than the assistant I've got, but I know it's boring. I didn't want to presume." He likes the idea of being alone with her as well. His office is reasonably private while still being public.

Lydia's vaguely aware of the punishments for treason, but not as acutely aware as Matt likely is. Back home, she was always good at getting into trouble without getting caught and managing to get herself back out of it before it mattered too much. Here, she's going in blind and hoping for the best, more often than not. But for now, she's playing it as safe as she can until it's time to bring the idea to Friend Computer and hope to hell she gets a green light.

"You'll need to stock up your pantry, for sure, then," she says with a playful lilt, and she likes the sound of that; being able to cook for him. She isn't really sure why, because it isn't like she's ever cooked for anyone other than herself or her mom, but maybe that's the reason in and of itself. She'd never say it out loud for fear of setting his doubts about their age gap back in motion, but the idea of cooking for him seems more...grown up.

Shaking her head, Lydia laughs. "Oh no, honey, if I want to keep this waist slim, I can't be living on takeout. I'll take the cooking bullet," she replies with a grin. A soft, amused hum follows and her eyebrows lift a little when he responds. "Uh huh, well it is now," she tells him.

Lydia can't decide if that surprise is a good thing when he first reacts to her offer, but she can tell that it is, in fact, a good thing when he continues. "Yeah, of course," she says easily. Reading aloud isn't her favorite thing to do and she's positive that the content will be boring, but if it means spending time with Matt, then Lydia's completely on board. Plus, she can't help preening a little when he says that he'd rather listen to her voice. "I would be happy to help you with that, Matt, just say when and where," she promises sincerely.

His awareness of the punishments is the reason he wants Lydia to be careful. He doesn't want to see her punished nor does he want to have to defend her.

"I'll give you the card and you can do it. I'm unsurprisingly awful at grocery shopping too," he tells her with a grin. He actually likes the sound of it as well. It sounds domestic and couple-y. Of course, back in the real world he and Lydia would run into the same complications that his other relationships have. He doesn't honestly know how Lydia would handle the Daredevil thing, but he's learned from his brief relationship with Karen that he needs to be forthcoming about being Daredevil.

"Gosh, that's going to be hard on me," he tells her, eating home cooked food as opposed to takeout he means. He chuckles and shrugs a little, glad that she's taking it as the joke he means it.

It is a good thing. He can't think of anyone he'd rather spend that time with. Of course, he has to actually listen to what she's saying, but he has to listen to the monotone assistant he's been assigned. Lydia is a much better and pleasant choice. "In the afternoons, when you get a free moment, just come by. I'll let you know if I'm in court for some reason or if it doesn't work that day."

"I think that's probably the best course of action to make both of our lives easier," she says with mock seriousness. The imagery that this conversation is setting into her mind gives Lydia just one more little ray of hope for the future that they could have if they can ever get out of here. She can't help feeling a little warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about it. She supposes, though, once they get out of here, she's going to need to come clean about the banshee thing. Lydia can't imagine living anywhere near New York City without the voices in her head being incredibly loud and distracting for a long while as she adjusts to the higher number of deaths she'll be predicting on average. ...she wonders, a little sadly, whether that will be a deal breaker for him. Whether it'll freak him out too much and whether that'll be the end of whatever this beautiful rollercoaster they're on happens to be.

For now, she pushes away the thought. "Oh, I'm sure. You poor bastard," she laughs, nuzzling her nose against his and giving him a chaste kiss on the lips.

With another nod, Lydia smiles. "That, I can manage. And I'm looking forward to it."

She touches his face gently to let him know she's moving away from him for a moment so that she can check the progress of her memory foam and she's pleased to see the polyol working exactly as it should. "Perfect," she says softly to herself. "Okay, I need to let this set. Wanna go up and get some food from the Commissary to bring back and we can hang out here for a little while before we have to go back to our rooms for the night?" she asks, turning back to him and taking his hands in hers to let him know where she is.

If he can give her hope in this place, he will even if he's not sure if he believes this idyllic future they're painting can happen. The banshee thing won't bother him beyond the fact that it will be hard on her and he'll worry about her. He will be there to comfort her though, to make sure that she does learn to deal with it. He has to make his own confessions about Daredevil. They both have potential deal breakers to worry about, to confess. It won't freak him out too much, but he worries that his preternatural senses and night time activities will ruin things as well.

He chuckles, returning the kiss. "No, no. Don't have sympathy for me. I'll cope somehow," he jokes in return.

"Me too." And he's genuine when he says that. It'll be nice to spend the time with her even if it is working.

He stays put as she moves away, head tilted in her direction to catch the soft murmuring then her suggestion in return. He nods a bit. "That sounds perfect. Walk me there? I'll leave my cane here."

Once he agrees to go, Lydia nods a little, mostly to herself, and smiles. "Of course," she agrees, moving to hold his arm rather than his hand. She doesn't mind leading Matt around when he needs it. It's just an excuse to be touching him when they're in public that no one can question without making themselves look like the asshole.

Lydia starts to lead them toward the door. She's starving and so ready for something to eat, even if it's more likely to be slop than not. "Onward ho."
