Daycycle 102 [ August 7 - August 13]

daycycle 102

[Aug 7 - Aug 13]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty
There is no Mission assigned to any Specials today.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties, unless specifically assigned a different shift.

At 1200 today, a list of high-ranking non-registered mutants will be released to the public. These officials will scramble to account for their tardiness in registering to the Computer and will shortly after be assigned Troubleshooters as body guards against retaliating Anti-Mutant members. All assigned troubleshooters are to keep their charges alive until shift change at 0700 on Day 103, using whatever means necessary. Permission temporarily granted to travel to restricted areas within the clearance level of their charge. Both bodyguards should be present at all times with few exceptions.

Barry Allen & Jillian Holtzmann - Otto Vaska, Stasis - can suspend time briefly, INDIGO, Central Processing
Steve Rogers & Parker - Xeno Fane, Charm - can make people like them, BLUE, Production, Logistics & Commissary
Blue Sargent & Morgana - Priskilla Linos, Polymorphism - can shapeshift, BLUE, Housing, Planning & Development
Cisco Ramon & Stiles Stilinski - Gabi Aline, Adrenaline Control - can control adrenaline levels in others, BLUE, Technical Services
Root & Tony Stark - Sol Sisel, Desolidity - can walk through walls, INDIGO, Research & Development

[ Player note: Characters may notice that any mutant abilities they once possessed may have a very weak showing when in close proximity to Alpha mutants. Mission success or failure is up to the players.]

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1800 in the Commissary and will be hosted by the Alpha Chess Club. Come participate in the biggest (and only) Chess Tournament sanctioned by the Computer.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

"Huh," he says thoughtfully. "Thanks." So far, this has gone better than he thought it would, and as far as people he could have been partnered with goes, they've actually managed to get along.

Stiles lingers at the window, looking out at the rest of the city. Actually being able to look outside is the thing he'll miss most about having to stay in the RED rooms. That, and privacy, but he can sort of work around that. And the beds there had seemed okay to him, but it had been rather late when he'd finally had gotten the chance to use it. "Hey, you think it could be Temper-pedic? That would be something."

He takes the chance to peer into the closet too, when he walks by it as he makes his way over to a chest of drawers. There's at least a dozen in there, not counting the ones that may have been removed for laundering, just how many of those does someone need? There's clothing in some drawers - he leaves that alone quickly enough - and books in another. Stamped with the logo of the city's only library. Light reading, from the state of the pages, the occasional word seen between dark lines of ink. There's nothing slipped into any of the pages besides a lone bookmark. Nothing that stands out.

"The place is pretty clear," he says, stopping to check the other door in the room. It leads to a small bathroom; neatly kept, and sterile looking. There's actually two doors there, the one Stiles had gone through, and the other that connected back into the main living areas. Someone had really put a lot of thought into these apartments, and knowing these places exist is just going to make it harder for him to get used to his own quarters.

"It's not exactly skill based, not when her job can be taken over by anyone else with the right training, so it's probably something she's done that secured her position," he guesses. That probably hadn't made her all that popular with the people who had known her before.

"So we probably shouldn't get too comfortable here, but I really want to."

"Yeah dude, sure," he says with a smile. He likes Stiles, so far. This is a win-win for him, as far as he can tell. Except for the part where he knows he's not going to get much, if any, sleep tonight. That part sucks ass.

"Temper-pedic or maybe one of those Sleep Number mattresses," Cisco replies. His own bed at home wasn't anything spectacular, but it was better than the bullshit down in his RED room. "Think if I flirt with her enough, she'll let me sleep with her tonight?" he asks, only half-joking.

At Stiles's assessment, Cisco nods his agreement. He looks over to see Stiles moving into the next room, which Cisco assumes is a bathroom.

That, he thinks, is actually a really good point. A trained monkey could probably do his job, he thinks, so that's not really a stretch of the imagination. "I wonder what, though. What makes the Computer...happy enough with you to give you a place like this?" he wonders aloud, scrubbing a hand over his mouth and chin before letting his arm fall back to his side. "And I wonder if she'd been registered as a meta, whether she'd still be a BLUE…" he adds thoughtfully.

"What are you two doing? My suite is not that big," Gabi's voice is calling, sounding caught somewhere between annoyed and worried. "Did you find something…? Is everything...safe?"

Cisco looks up sharply and all that he can manage to come up with is, "uuuhhhh—" Stiles, help a bro out.

Stiles snorts, like it would be that easy. "She'll probably take that as an insult." From what he knows of Gabi so far, she doesn't seem like the kind of person who would be willing to play along with something like that at all. Especially when she doesn't really know them well. "It would probably easier for you to borrow one of her unused pillows." He uses the term borrow in the loosest sense of the word, because if there was a way to smuggle some of the bedding out of here, he probably would do it, and there has to be extra sheets and things around here somewhere. Too bad you can't really hide much in these jumpsuits.

So the layout of the suite is pretty straightforward - the door opening into the wide living room that branches off into the kitchen, and a hallway leading to the bedroom. There might be an office or another spare room, and a wall closet, but they'll have to check those doors to be sure.

"She hasn't been demoted for it," he murmurs. "So her abilities haven't been deemed enough of a risk to outweigh what she's done to make herself useful."

Stiles froze when Gabi had asked to know what they're up too, glancing back at Cisco and making a 'why me' face back at his expression. He can come up with stories, but they're not the greatest.

"We were checking around for other methods of entry, besides the obvious ones," he bullshits, after looking over her room again. He steps further out into the hallway, where he can see Gabi, holding a pan. "I had a little trouble when I was checking under the bed for vents."

"I got stuck," he clarifies at the confused look she gives him, which yeah, he was kind of expecting that peeved expression. Though given that he'd already annoyed her once already, it's not like he could make it that much worse for himself.

"But the windows are fine, and even if someone wanted to try parkouring their way up the side of the building, they need a glass cutter to get through." And the fact an assailant would have to get through him and Cisco if they'd tried the door is implied.

Cisco gives a little sideways nod and cocks his eyebrows a bit. Yeah, she doesn't really seem like the good humor type, does she? Probably a better idea not to make that joke after all, Stiles is right. "Point taken," he agrees. Even if it is kind of a bummer.

"Yet," Cisco says in a low voice. She hasn't been demoted for it yet, and Cisco feels like that distinction is important because the fact of the matter is, she hadn't registered and the only reason anyone knows now is because the information was leaked. That has to put a dent in a person's credibility, doesn't it? Not that Cisco thinks this place follows standard logic by any stretch of the word, but...

Stiles takes on the challenge like a champ and he starts to explain, moving out into the hallway and Cisco follows him. Once Stiles has gotten the ball rolling, it feels a little easier to come up with more bullshit to pile on top.

"I also checked the closet for any vulnerabilities, like on the chance that someone had broken in here before we got here, but there weren't any hollow points in the wall in the back of it, so the closet is secure, too. So yeah, it's safe. We just wanted to make sure," he says with a little smile that he hopes looks as sincere as he needs it to. Cisco's a pretty decent liar, he's just not too great being put on the spot.

Gabi looks between the two of them and lifts her eyebrows.

"We didn't touch anything we didn't have to," Cisco offers quickly, because he feels like he knows what the look is for.

She relaxes just barely. "Good. Well...I hope that you're finished, because dinner is ready and then I'd like to take a shower and go to bed. It's been a very long day," she says, frowning.

Maybe Gabi has always been like that, or maybe it's because of the circumstances, Stiles doesn't care enough to speculate further on why.

Cisco's words gives him pause, though he doesn't show it, making his way over back to the main living areas. How quickly can someone outlive their usefulness? He thinks, when people are created to fit the whims of a machine that would have a hard time passing Asimov's three laws of robotics. Though robots and computers aren't exactly the same thing. It's something to talk about later, though the opportunity to do so presents itself a lot sooner than he'd thought it would.

"Sure, yeah. Go ahead." Stiles steps aside so Gabi can pass. "We'll just be here."

As Gabi moves towards the bathroom, she tells them that they can start eating, and just rinse off the dishes and leave them in the dishwasher when they're done. She goes to her room first, needing to reassure herself that everything is as it should be, then grabbing a change of clothes before actually using the shower.

Stiles waits until they can hear the sound of water running from the bathroom, before collapsing down onto the nearest chair. "Oh my god," he says. "That was close." Now would probably be the best time to check out the other rooms too, but he doesn't really want to.

When Stiles steps aside, Cisco does so in tandem in the opposite direction, giving Gabi plenty of space to get through. He feels a surge of appreciation and trepidation all rolled into one when she says they can go start eating because, while he absolutely appreciates the gesture, some part of him wonders if she'll turn them in for treason later for eating real food when it isn't an allowance in their clearance level. After yesterday's slop, though, he honestly can't let himself care enough not to start moving toward the kitchen. Totally worth it, if you ask him.

"Sorry," Cisco says quickly. "I know, I'm so bad on the spot like that, but you picked it up like a champ. I'm sure it's fine," he promises, dishing himself a helping of what he's pretty sure is a chicken entree. In this place, God only knows, but he's willing to risk it because his stomach is growling and it smells amazing.

He looks over at Stiles as he steps out of the way to let the other man in for his own dinner. "Dude, do you get the feeling that this is suspiciously too easy a mission right now...? Because besides the long hours...it's been weirdly uneventful..." he says, frowning slightly. "Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I'm just saying..."

[personal profile] cassandran 2016-08-17 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Stiles doesn't have that same reluctance, walking over to the center island where two empty plates are laid out, now that he can smell it, he's reminded of how hungry he really is. And food is food, for all that it's above their color coded levels. He suspects that if they did look around the kitchen, they wouldn't find anything that would fit into their clearance level. The stuff they served in the commissary would have been the first thing he'd have chosen to get rid of, had the choice been available to him. Plus, an argument could be made that they're working within their mission parameters, which should get them a pass on a technicality, should whoever judges their crimes be lenient.

"Yeah, at least she bought it," Stiles says. "Though my lies don't tend to go well. So consider yourself warned."

He gets some food himself, taking a step towards the living area again before changing his mind. If things get messy, it'll be easier to clean up tile and varnished wood than what made up the living room furniture.

"Don't say that," he says reflexively, between wolfing down bites of food. "We don't actually want this to get complicated."

Setting his plate aside, he wrinkles his nose while he thinks over Cisco's words more seriously. "This whole thing is about Gabi, right? And how she didn't report her powers to our computer overlord. So maybe what matters most is how all this is affecting her."

That there could be more going on behind the scenes that neither they, nor Gabi knows about, just so this little exercise can happen.

Cisco holds both hands up after setting his plate down again, a defensive gesture that couples with an apologetic smile. "All right, all right, I got it. Sorry," he replies, his tone genial.

While Stiles starts to move toward the living room, Cisco opts to stay put, because like hell is he going to put himself in the position of spilling something in her pristine apartment in a place where there's carpet rather than linoleum. It'll be a lot easier to clean up if he makes a mess in here. He has a feeling there's a reason Gabi didn't tell them to make themselves at home, in addition to starting to eat.

As he's shoveling food into his mouth, Cisco's eyebrows lift. He swallows his bite and shakes his head. "Trust me, man. I'm all about things not getting complicated. I just know what I'm used to back home and when there's a calm like this, there usually closely follows a storm. I think it might be better to mentally prepare for it than pretend the possibility isn't a thing, that's all." He shrugs and goes back to shoveling more food into his mouth, practically inhaling the dinner she'd left for him, and leaning back a little when he's all but literally cleaned the plate.

"Yes and no," Cisco corrects him. "I think it's less about how she didn't report her powers and more how she's been outed as a mutant. There's a hate group," he says. "And with the information leaked, now they know she's a target for their crimes. I think that's what it's about more than her failure to report. Although, you're right, I imagine that's a thing as well...but I doubt that's within our scope to help with, you know what I mean, man?"

His attention is diverted when he hears the running water of the shower shut off. Cisco looks over at Stiles as he picks up his plate and moves to rinse it off in the sink so that Gabi won't have to before she puts it in the dishwasher. He lowers his voice as he continues, "I just think we need to be kind of hyper-aware now that she's not surrounded by other BLUEs. She's just got us. If anyone was going to make a strike against her, it'd be now; not at her troubleshooting station."

That hadn't been what he'd meant to imply - just that there's still a chance that things could still hit the fan on Gabi's side of things. Though sometimes, the consequences don't catch up with him, or them, in this case, till much later.

Stiles continues to pick at the food on his plate, pushing the remaining pieces around rather than eating them while they're talking. "Things never really stop happening, they just don't always affect you," he says, rubbing one hand over his face. Which amounts to the same thing as nothing happening, when you can choose not to get involved.

"Point." This is a lot like the hunters versus supernatural creatures thing all over again, with the exception being that nobody from either side is willing to ignore the generations-old animosity to make friends with each other. "And a little of that will depend on how quickly said group can pull themselves together - I would have already tried to find places Gabi could be found if I were them&mdash" and they've had hours to do so— "but they would also need to figure out her schedule to do anything without getting caught." It's been less than a day since her information's been floating around, and while he doesn't think collateral damage would be a huge deterrent, being brought in for their actions would be. There's a window of time, small though it might be. "Personally? I would have made her disappear into the system as fast as possible, not provide her with bodyguards."

As to what they can do... Stiles isn't sure hyper-awareness would be the right term for it, because he still associates that with the psychological definition. That would have them jumping at every little odd noise that they encounter. But alert - he can get behind that.

"If anyone did try something, their best bet would be to break in through the door - and while it would be a terrible idea to barricade it, we still can make it harder than they expect. I mean, we can't exactly Home Alone the place," because where would they even find half those things? Plus, there's the clean up after. "But we can rearrange the furniture." Give themselves cover, and keep the people who could come in from having a direct line to her room.

Somehow, during the course of all that, Stiles starts gnawing on his fork, and he puts it down again when he realizes. He too looks over towards the bathroom door, though it remains closed for now. Gabi might check in with them before she heads to bed, but she's taking her time about it.

"Though I have to say, paranoia will definitely help us stay awake tonight."

Cisco is immediately brought back to his conversation with Barry and Felicity in reference to the Specials when Stiles points out that nothing stops happening, the only thing that changes is whether or not they'll be personally affected. Cisco frowns a little at that. His mind wanders slightly, worrying over Ray and wondering if they'll ever be able to find him in this place, wherever he's being held. If he's even still here.

He snaps back to attention as Stiles goes on and he nods his agreement. "No, you're right, I feel like if I was a bad guy, I'd have my ducks in a row as soon as possible and if there are a lot of them, then they've had plenty of time." He almost slips that finding out Gabi's schedule would be easy enough if they had someone like Felicity in their ranks, but at the last second, realizes how that might come across and chooses not to say it at all. "The only thing is that that's assuming they have someone who can do that. Either someone with high enough clearance to have access to that sort of information or a really good hacker. If they don't, then they'd have to do it the hard way and the really messed up part is that if the Computer sees mutants as disposable, then they might even end up being rewarded subtly at the end of the day. This could all just be a test for our loyalty and theirs..."

He sighs a little and runs a hand through his hair. "...we could try..." he points out. "Gabi has almost the highest level of clearance, dude, who knows what we could get our hands on to boobytrap this bitch with the temporary badges we've got. I just don't know if it's better to make it simple and hope for the best or truly prepare for the worst..."

Gabi's finally come out of the bathroom, dressed in still another BLUE jumpsuit and Cisco clears his throat to let Stiles know she's coming.

She enters the kitchen wordlessly, wet hair clinging to her neck and shoulders, and makes her way to the counter to fix her dish for dinner.

"I'll clean it up, Gabi, you've had a hard enough day and it was really cool of you to feed us like that. Just...we'll clean up. You eat and then go to bed if you're tired. We'll handle the rest," he offers. Honestly, he feels really bad for her. It reminds him a lot of the way people were wary of the Flash back home before they realized that he was there to protect them rather than hurt them. She might not be protecting anyone, but as far as he can tell, she's pretty harmless; she at least doesn't mean to hurt anybody. At least, he doesn't think so.

[personal profile] cassandran 2016-08-19 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Rubbing at his face, Stiles rests his chin in his hands as he puts his elbows on the table. Assuming the hate group did know where all the newly revealed mutants are, and that they can get everything in place right away... Would they be willing to try and pick off five different people at the same time? For him, the speculation leads up to one thing: “So who would it want to win?”

"Nevermind,” he shakes his head. “We can't exactly leave to get things, so unless Gabi happens to have whatever you're thinking of here, we're stuck with what we've got," he pauses. "Unless there's delivery." But they’ll have to vet the delivery guy, and whatever they bring up, and he has the feeling that the requests they make will be tracked through the system.

He still starts a little when Gabi comes in, shuffling his chair forwards though he doesn’t have to.

Gabi covers the leftovers after she’s plated up her share, placing them back into the fridge before sitting down to eat. She nods at Cisco’s offer, slowly going through her food before asking what they’d planned to do through the night.

Stiles outlines the things they can do with her apartment for now. "Of course, if you have anything you can suggest to add to it, we're open to ideas - we don't know what you've got tucked away."

[personal profile] namegenerator 2016-08-19 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
As much as Stiles had posed a fairly important question, Cisco was willing to let it fall away because he also had a good point: they couldn't exactly go get the things they needed, at least unless they split up and the mission had pretty clearly stated that they shouldn't if they could avoid it. Delivery would be an option if they thought that they could trust it, but Cisco's fairly sure that that would be counterproductive since they'd have to vet the whole process anyway. It would just be making more work for themselves.

Gabi is largely quiet as Stiles explains their thought process for protecting her for the night. He doesn't mention that they'll probably have to sleep in shifts, if they sleep at all, because that's sort of a given.

As she finishes her meal, Gabi gives a little shrug and she fidgets for a moment, like she's reflexively about to take care of her dirty dishes but remembers that she doesn't have to. "I have my old GREEN barrel laser gun and my current BLUE one," she offers. "I'll get them for you. They might be better defense than those RED barrel laser guns you probably have." Unless potential assailants are INFRARED or RED, her weapons will be the only ones worth using, anyway.

She gets to her feet and moves to retrieve them, handing the BLUE one to Cisco because he looks older and the GREEN one to Stiles. "I'm going to bed. Thank you for this, I appreciate it," she says. With that, she turns and heads to her bedroom, closing the door behind her.

Cisco takes a deep breath and sighs, looking back at Stiles. Now comes the hard part. He's confident that if they work together as well now as they have been all day, it won't be so bad. The biggest battle will be against sleep.

"Well...here goes nothing."
