Daycycle Day 23 [ FEB 29-MAR 5]

DAYCYCLE 23

[ FEB 29 - MAR 5 ]

MORNING

This morning even the most vehement of those Special haters seem to be preoccupied at the briefing.  The whispers aren’t about the new arrivals but the opportunity to go to the surface.  The Briefing Officer doesn’t waste any time in announcing those that were chosen.  Out of the twelve Troubleshooters selected three specials, Tony Stark, Ray Palmer and Barry Allen, are named as part of the expedition.  Some Troubleshooters seem disappointed while others look extremely relieved at not being named as part of the group.  The expedition will set out at noon with a projected return time of 48 hours.

Troubleshooter Team: D. Grayson and R. Lynch

This particular mission is considered a high-clearance level despite being assigned to RED troubleshooters.  Dick and Ronan will be selected for the mission and immediately led out of the Commissary in order to be told in private.  They are to travel to Bingham’s Arms Emporium located on the outskirts of the Armed Forces sector.  There they are to render the supervisor, Victor Bingham, unconscious and take him to one of the scrub bots located at Internal Security headquarters.  They will be required to wear masks provided when obtaining the traitor in order to protect their identity from retaliation.

All other Troubleshooters:  You are to report to your Service Firm positions for the day, until called on for Troubleshooter duty.

Intel: The word glitch has begun appearing on confession booths in the Technical Services sector.

AFTERNOON

At approximately 1400 a small explosion will occur in the R&D sector, causing it to be evacuated for the rest of the day.  It is unknown what caused the explosion, but rumor has it that anyone introduced to the invisible gas in the area will begin to go into convulsions before losing consciousness.  That will not stop some people from getting masks and searching the abandoned warehouses for products that will gain money on the black market.

EVENING

At 2000 the Genuine Credit Opportunity Club will hold a special presentation in the Commissary for those interested in earning astonishing amounts of credits for minimal work.  THIS IS NOT A TRIANGLE SCHEME.  Sleeping gas will be expelled at 2100.

There's far too much noise for Matt to separate anything as subtle as someone approaching him. He supposes he'll eventually learn to isolate sounds even with his diminished senses the way he had with his super ones.

He does hear her when she clears her throat. He's busy picking at food that he's not crazy about eating, but that he knows is necessary. He looks up, brows raising and lips curving in a genuine, if small, smile. "Please, be my guest." He gestures to what he assumes is a free seat. "I'm Matt."

"I'm Allison," she says, smiling at him before realizing that he can't see her. Good move, Argent, she mentally berates herself. "Does the food taste any better when you can't see what you're eating?"

Oh god, that's probably rude to ask. What is wrong with her? "I'm sorry," she apologizes. "It's been a strange day so far." She shoves some of her food in her mouth. She can't put her foot in it if it's already full.

Really, she shouldn't worry so much about that. He can hear the smile in her voice. There's a reason businesses tell everyone that answers the phone to smile when you answer it: smiles are audible.

He laughs at that, a soft sort of chuckle. "I wish it worked that way. Instead, all I have to focus on is the texture and the taste."

Not rude. Funny. He shakes his head at her apology. "Not necessary. I don't mind. Often people dance around the whole blind thing. It's nice to be treated like a regular guy," he assures her. His brow furrows and the smiles fades a little. "Anything in particular?" He hasn't been around long enough to realize that Allison is new.

At least he doesn't seem to think that she's inappropriate. That's good. She would not want to make an enemy on her first day.

"It's my first day," Allison explains. "I'm a little out of sorts." Especially now that she's reunited with her best friend and they share the same inexplicable memories that make them believe this place isn't what it claims to be. "Have you been on this level long?"

[personal profile] preemptiveforgiveness 2016-03-05 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
She's not inappropriate at all and she's closer to making a friend than she is an enemy.

He half grins at that. "it's my second day so I'm still out of sorts," he tells her. Honestly, he's got very little idea of what the hell is going on this place. He's trying to find out, but it's going to take more than a day or two to do that.

Allison feels a sense of relief wash over her when he admits that it's only his second day. Lydia has obviously been dealing with this much longer and it is nice to talk to someone who is equally confused about the whole thing.

"I'm glad I came to sit with you," she says. "We can be new and confused together."

Matt agrees. It's more helpful to talk to those that have been dealing with this, but it's a great deal more comforting to know that he isn't the only one that's still reeling from all of this.

"I'm glad you did as well," Matt tells her. "I've been trying to act cool and collected so I wasn't the only one so thank you for freeing me from that kind of pressure."

"Is there anything I can help you with?" Allison asks, realizing that this must be even more daunting for Matt given his blindness than it is for her. She's also lucky enough to have Lydia and has no idea if he has anyone else to rely on for assistance. "I can help you find your way around or something, if you need?"
preemptiveforgiveness: (Tell me)

[personal profile] preemptiveforgiveness 2016-03-08 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Matt considers the question carefully, definitely not dismissing it out of hand. "There's a guy, Ray Palmer, that's been helping me quite a bit, but I wouldn't say I've got everything figure out. If you'd like to take a walk after we eat and you can describe things for me, I wouldn't say no, but only if you want."
jeprotege: (determined smile)

[personal profile] jeprotege 2016-03-08 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That name sounds familiar. Allison thinks that Lydia mentioned him, but she decides not to mention that just yet. "I'd be happy to," she says. "Maybe we can discover some things together."

Matt only knows Ray and Lydia because Ray was his computer appointed guide the first day and Lydia is one of his roommates. He doesn't blame her for not coming out with all the information she knows. It's hard to know who and what to trust here. He smiles at her agreement. "That's sort of what I was thinking."

It would be fun (sort of) and Matt wouldn't feel like he was boring Allison by having her take him to all the places she already knew.

[personal profile] jeprotege 2016-03-11 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Allison likes that idea a lot. Matt seems really nice and if she can help him while figuring things out about this place, it'll be killing two birds with one stone. "Well, if you're done eating, we can head out now. There's a little time left before we need to report back to our stations."

"Yeah, this stuff doesn't inspire me to clean my plate," he grins and stands up, grabbing his cane as he does. He navigates around the table to the end of it then looks toward Allison. "Do you mind if I take your arm?" Because some people do, but it really is the easiest way to walk with someone for him.

jeprotege: (side eye)

[personal profile] jeprotege 2016-03-15 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course not," Allison says. She stands and walks over next to him, holding her arm out and making sure it brushes his hand so he knows where it is. "Do you have a direction in mind you'd like to go?"

He tucks his hand in the crook of her arm and shakes her head. "No where in particular, though I've heard there is a library and I've yet to find it. Really, I haven't had a chance to explore too much." He's only been here a day longer than she.

jeprotege: (shy smile)

[personal profile] jeprotege 2016-03-16 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Allison smiles when he tucks his hand into her arm. Matt's a nice guy and she's glad she took the chance of speaking with him. Even if they don't find anything interesting on their explorations, she is sure that they will have a nice time getting to know each other further.

"A library sounds like an excellent goal," she tells him. "Let's see if we can't find it."
