Daycycle 21 [Feb 14 - 20]

DAYCYCLE 21

[ FEB 14 - FEB 20 ]

MORNING

This morning begins at 0500 for those assigned to RED rooms 1102 and 1105.  In 1102, Tony Stark and Samantha Groves will be woken up when IntSec Gray Ops come to lead Matt Farrell away at gunpoint for treason.  Alternately, in 1105, Barry Allen and Gaius Maecenas will be woken when the Grey Ops come to remove Peggy Carter for treason.  Peggy Carter will escape and make it to the end of the hall before she is cornered by another group of armed IntSec agents and roughly led away.  The commotion and the firing of a laser pistol will no doubt wake the other rooms along the Specials hallway.  Hardison will immediately disable the specials network until they can be sure that it isn’t compromised.  Specials will not be able to use it for the entirety of this day.

Troubleshooter Team: S. Groves and Morgana

The confession booth at the intersection of corridor AEX 39224X and AEX 342232G is drawing way more power than it should, but we’ve got orders to keep it running under any circumstances.  Shut down the six other booths in the area by entering this shut down sequence at each one.  All confession booths should’ve downloaded the anti-virus software upgrade last night, but if they are hostile, you may escape by any means necessary.  Just note that the booths themselves are laser proof.

All other Troubleshooters:  You are to report to your Service Firm positions for the day, until called on for Troubleshooter duty.

Intel: Anti-virus software was upgraded last night and should have stopped the erratic behavior of the robots.  However, if you run into a hostile unit you have permission to power it down in any way necessary.

AFTERNOON

Throughout the afternoon IntSec will pull Tony Stark, Samantha Groves, Barry Allen and Gaius Maecenas to the IntSec headquarters in the top part of the Wagon Wheel for interrogation regarding their roommates’ treasonous activities.  The acts of treason that their roommates have been accused of will not be made clear, but the interrogations will not be entirely friendly.  Fists and feet might ‘slip’ in the course of the investigation if it is believed that it will get them more information.  (Those being interrogated may note one particular female IntSec interrogator wears silver toed boots.)  Each interrogation will last approximately an hour before each citizen will be released to return to their positions within Alpha.

EVENING

A Remedial Nuclear Safety program will be hosted in the Commissary at approximately 2000 tonight for any citizen who needs a refresher on what to do in the case of a nuclear meltdown.  Sleeping gas will be expelled in the barracks at 2100.  Many citizens will find that it causes disturbing and troublesome dreams.

Ronan Lynch | OTA

[personal profile] fictor 2016-02-18 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ronan wouldn't say that he's settling in, but he is getting accustomed to this place and the routine in it. He's still angry about being here, about having his life turned upside down. He's also playing it a little close to the vest because he hasn't figured this place out completely. He spends his day at his post doing trouble shooter things, which is to say he is very bored most days. He also explores the compound because he certainly hasn't figured this place all out. Feel free to interrupt him or otherwise add some variety to his otherwise boring day.

In the evening, he eats in the dining hall, grumbling and bitching to himself or anyone who sits down near him. After dinner, he attends the Nuclear Safety program simply because he wasn't even aware that was a fucking issue (what the even hell?). He stays in the back, his back against the wall, arms crossed over his chest. He's probably wearing a perpetual 'what the ever living fuck' look on his face.

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-02-18 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless he's working, Adam is never too far from Ronan. Sometimes he's actually with Ronan, sometimes he's just in the peripheral of him. He's slowly inching himself away as he does what settling in that he can do here, which isn't a lot, but enough to not be entirely uncomfortable as he'd initially been. This is still far outside of Adam's comfort zone. Luckily, Adam is accustomed to going outside his comfort zone.

This happens to be one of the times when he's not just keeping Ronan in sight. He jogs up to him while he's exploring and tapping his bicep with his knuckles. "Hey. You wanna go look around over there with me?"

The place in question, the place he's gesturing toward, is the clone tank storage. Adam isn't entirely sure if he believes their clones of themselves. And he has no idea if that area is restricted to them at all. But he wants to look. He wants to investigate. Are there more clones of him and Ronan there, in that building? He isn't sure it's something he wants to investigate alone.
fictor: (Layers motherfucker)

[personal profile] fictor 2016-02-19 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ronan prefers it that way. He can keep an eye on Adam; he can protect him, at least that's what he tells himself. It has absolutely nothing to do with his feelings for Adam, with the fact that Adam is one of his favorite people, here or there, or with the fact that he has a gigantic crush on Adam. Nope, nothing to do with any of those things at all. He doesn't worry too much about Adam sneaking away from him. He knows that Adam will be close, and if he's not, Ronan will go looking for him.

Ronan turns at the touch despite having heard Adam's approach. He smirks at the question and nods. "What're we waiting for?" he asks as he turns toward the clone tank storage.

Ronan doesn't have any idea that the area is restricted either. He doesn't really want to believe that they're clones of themselves. Of course, in a way that's comforting. At least back home, Gansey isn't freaking out, Noah isn't disappearing and Blue isn't fussing over the both of them because Ronan and Adam are gone. Whether he wants to believe it or not, he's with Adam on not wanting to investigate it alone.

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-02-21 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
There are a lot of questions that arise with the idea of their being clones. Yes, it's disturbing. Yes, it's also comforting. But how far does the cloning go? Are they capable of cloning other things? Like, say, replicators in those Star Trek episodes. If so, then why is the food so crappy here? If the tech is so powerful, the AI so powerful, then why does it feel like the living is so minimalist?

For a seemingly futuristic place, this is nothing like the future sci-fi shows would have you believe exists. Which, Adam thinks, means they're holding back in order to control the population. It's strategic. It's about power.

"Have you found out anything new about this place?" Adam asks as they walk.
fictor: (Supsicous)

[personal profile] fictor 2016-02-24 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ronan is a bit intrigued by the idea of the clones. After all, he'd dreamed a clone of himself once to distract the night terrors in his dreams. He'd pulled it back into reality and watched it die. Adam had watched as well. He figures it can't be much weirder than that. He kind of wants to find the clones and poke at them, to see if all of his clones are really an exact replication. Of course, the idea that he is a clone is more disturbing. He doesn't know much about Star Trek, but better food and a holodeck would be awesome.

No. It seems more backwards than forwards. Ronan hasn't thought of it like that, but Adam is probably right. There's got to be a better life available to them, so why aren't they living it?

Ronan's voice dips to a whisper and he switches from English to Latin.De transplantatio exorti. Rebellio esse a re. Adhuc vultus in ea.

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-02-24 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Rebellionem? Gratias." Adam speaks quietly under his breath, walking so close to Ronan that their sides are gently bumping together so that only Ronan can hear him. He's so pleased to hear that someone is fighting back. He thinks it goes without saying that he would want to be in on that.

The front doors to the cloning facility seem to be guarded. Adam grabs Ronan's wrist and leads him around the side of another building so that hopefully they can come at it from another angle. Stealth is him today, he guesses.

"Audivi quod egrederetur populus de linea AI crimen immitis." He adds quietly. "Si adnuntiatum est aditus ad ipsum proprium?"
fictor: (What? [amused])

[personal profile] fictor 2016-02-25 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
He snorts and grunts a little with a chuckle that says 'right?' without having to say a word. "Multis qui nescio. Et tamen. Tu?". Yeah, Ronan figures that Adam is in if there's a rebellion. For as much as Adam doesn't like to get in trouble, he can't sit still and do nothing either.

Ronan follows Adam easily, glancing around the corner a little. Adam is much stealthier than Ronan. He's always hit things front on. Subtlety has never been his strong point.

"Non merda". He smirks a little, the sarcasm in his voice coming through. It's an AI, of course it's evil and cruel. Watch a sci-fi movie and it'll tell you that. He shakes his head at Adam's question though, his scarred eyebrow quirking up in question.

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-02-27 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Even the idea of a rebellion helps to ease Adam's mentality about this place. From what he's been noticing and hearing about this place, there should be a rebellion. Free thinking humans should beat a dictator of an AI. Right? Right.

While Ronan likes to ram into life face first, Adam has perfected the finely tuned nuances of sneaking. He knew how to sneak into his trailer back home without anyone knowing he was there, without being noticed. Right now he's using all of those skills.

Only Ronan Lynch would know how to say 'no shit' in Latin. It amuses Adam every time. "Fiunt cum te ponam."

With their backs to the wall, Adam watches quietly as some people with clearance enter the building past some guards. He watches the code they put into the keypad. They wait as another comes again. He watches the code again, hoping he got it right. Then he glances back to Ronan and nods. They're going for it.

Adam reaches into his pocket and withdraws one of those happy pills they're supposed to be taking. He tosses it across the way. When the guards go to investigate he grabs Ronan's arm and jogs, light-footed, across the way. He quickly inputs the numbers and hopes like hell that they work. The door beeps and opens, he and Ronan step in. Adam reminds himself to breathe and looks back to make sure Ronan is good. The adrenaline is ramped up pretty high for him because he isn't used to breaking the rules. He has no clue if it is for Ronan too.

[personal profile] fictor 2016-02-28 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a comfort that people aren't taking this lying down so to speak. There are evil humans and often power makes people (and apparently AIs) corrupt, but Ronan likes the idea of fighting a human better than the idea of an AI and in order to do that, the humans have to get control first.

Yeah, Ronan is totally counting on Adam here to get them through.

His teachers are not usually impressed (and yet, in a way they are). Of course, Ronan figured out how to curse in Latin. He simply nods at Adam's assurance and goes back to letting Adam lead this thing.

Ronan follows, trying to be as quiet at Adam, slipping in close behind them. Ronan is having fun doing this and that's pretty clear on his face. He's still grinning like a sharp-featured fool when the alarms go off and lights start flashing. This (irrationally) makes Ronan furious and he starts looking for someone or something to fight.

troubleshooter mission: morgana & s. groves

[personal profile] avemachina 2016-02-18 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Root sidles up next to Morgana, hands in her pockets as if they were just told to sit around and wait for awhile.

No question, having a weapon again puts her at ease. The idea of having to do a ridiculous job that she's pretty sure someone in Tech Support should be handling? Not so much. But maybe this will give her an opportunity. Tapping into a confession booth might yield some fun video at the very least, right?

"So: how long's it been since your last confession?"
lefey: (083)

[personal profile] lefey 2016-02-18 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
'A lifetime,' Morgana answered, looking at the other woman. She must be this "S. Groves" that Morgana had been told she was to assist with some problem or the other. It might as well have been written in ancient Samarian to her, even though she'd read the assignment at least fifteen times.

'Who knows, maybe we could get in a few hail mary's if the... machinery decides to relive yesterday.' the way she said "machinery" was neither certain nor happy. If she'd been given a way, she would have happily set them all on fire yesterday. Morgana turned the laser pistol body and barrel over in her hands, neither sure of if they were meant to be put together, nor if she wanted too have them in her possession at all.

'We should get going,' Morgana said, hopping to her feet and going to move forward but uncertain of where these so-called confession booths were supposed to be. 'Uh.'
avemachina: (sprinkle it around me)

[personal profile] avemachina 2016-02-18 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"AEX 39224X and AEX 342232G." Root moves with long, loose strides to catch up to Morgana. She tends to stand too close, comfort in her own skin something for show for anyone who knows how to look.

"See?" On her device are patchwork blueprints of the complex, the intersection in question centered on the screen. The briefing officers never give helpful details, and she's pretty sure the last time someone asked the Computer for clarification wound them up with a big fat red mark on their backs.
lefey: (086)

[personal profile] lefey 2016-02-20 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The map made enough sense for Morgana though the numbers before it had been no more insightful than tossing a coin to decide where to head next. She nodded, taking the time to look at the blueprints closely one more time, not bothered by being so close to this strange woman.

'I see,' and for perhaps the first time in this metal hole, she did. 'This way, then?' it was half a question, but she stepped out into the hall anyway, taking what seemed to be the quickest route. 'My name is Morgana.' she added, then, 'though I guess you know that with these little slate... things.' she nodded toward the little device they all seemed to have.
avemachina: (nobody loves you either)

[personal profile] avemachina 2016-02-22 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm Root."

She follows easily; long strides and loose limbs. But her brow furrows as Morgana keeps talking. Her cadence is odd, but not enough to comment on until her vocabulary outpaces it.

"The PDCs? I'm pretty familiar with them." Root's lips purse, her brow furrows-- she can't quite pick out just what's odd about this bird as they make their way toward the mission destination. "You've never had a cell phone? Maybe a PDA or a tablet or something similar?"
lefey: (074)

[personal profile] lefey 2016-02-22 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
Root. What an odd name. It must have been a middle name, or perhaps a chosen named given that the device said "S. Groves", but Morgana didn't really care. What was a name, after all?

'Cell phone? PDA?' she turned her head just enough to look at Root, her expression puzzled. 'No. I no more owned any of those than I owned those strange candles above the plants at my station.' those candles being the lights that helped the food grow in hydroponics. 'Even if such things existed... Uther would imagine them magical and have them destroyed.'
avemachina: (as far as I can see)

[personal profile] avemachina 2016-02-23 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Well, talk about a fish out of water.

"Is there anything in Alpha Complex you do recognize?" Because starting there might be easier than fishing piece by piece to get her bearings. Root isn't necessarily excited about toting around someone entirely clueless-- so it's good that Morgana does seem to have some wit about her.
lefey: (055)

[personal profile] lefey 2016-02-23 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
She shrugged, 'Camelot has clothes... though not nearly as unsightly as these,' she tugged at her jumpsuit as they rounded a corner. 'Our food is different, the lighting is different, there are people but they are... different.' peasants and noblemen didn't really compare to her strange roommates or the man she had met yesterday who was broad as a man could be without becoming a grotesque giant.

'In short, not so much. We have walls, floors, roofs, people, food, but all of them are different and this stuff,' she tapped the edge of some monitor or the other that they walked past, 'is unheard of. Not even in tales.'
avemachina: (and we're all going down)

[personal profile] avemachina 2016-02-24 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Camelot. Morgana. Root is certainly no expert, but the two together seem hardly a coincidence.

"Well, you're not alone on most of those things." But the one big difference is a chasm, considering Root had grown up breaking systems as if it was breathing. And she hadn't exactly planned to get involved beyond getting them through this mission, except Morgana went and made herself interesting. Maybe it'll be worth it to actually help her adjust.

"What about communication? Did you have the ability to communicate with people that weren't right in front of you?"
lefey: (066)

[personal profile] lefey 2016-02-24 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
'Letters. Uther had messengers who would take them, though I didn't really have anyone to write too and mostly used my fancy handwriting to double check the accounts.' she paused a moment then added, 'I think there were other ways to talk from afar, but I was not... privy to them because they were magical in nature.'

She couldn't say for sure, but she suspected it was true. It had to be true, after all, Morgause had slipped notes to her in ways that should not have been possible. 'Do those cell... phones let you talk from afar?'
avemachina: (sleep is a welcome gadget in our headbon)

[personal profile] avemachina 2016-02-24 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's how they started. Most of the building blocks of that technology turned into everything you see around you, here." She'll save the history of computers and the corruption of it regarding Alpha for later. For now, she just needs to get Morgana up to speed on punching in codes.

Shouldn't be too hard, right?

"And I'm filing away my own questions on your casual mention of magic away for later, by the way." A rare genuine smile, Root looks over at Morgana before they turn a corner.
lefey: (065)

[personal profile] lefey 2016-02-25 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
'Oh it's only casual because for all the hell that is here we are minus a very tyrannical King.' her mouth twitched at the mere though of Uther gracing them with his presence.

'Me saying magic is just as strange as every other explanation.' when you were from a world where magic was beyond a shadow of a doubt real, and technology was rare, it really was just as odd, though Root might think otherwise. 'We almost missed our door.' Morgana said, having to take a few steps back and though she wasn't entirely sure, taking that door anyway.

'So. Confessionals? I presume not of the religious kind.' surely they were already in hell, if one existed.
avemachina: (stretch up I cannot reach him)

[personal profile] avemachina 2016-03-02 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Morgana's comments about magic are certainly logical. Enough that Root lets them be for now, especially with the task at hand. She hums a surprised noise that's not wholly unimpressed when Morgana points out their mistake.

"See? You're picking it up." She's not usually so optimistic a person, but again? Morgana is interesting. "And no. If I had to guess it's the Computer's way of getting you to implicate yourself for treason. Which is bad enough without it glitching out on you and handing out even worse ridiculous punishments."

Root moves into the room, glancing over the seven booths before them and trying to figure out which is the one they're supposed to be saving. She hadn't believed the other Specials who complained about the lack of details from the briefing officer, but they sure weren't exaggerating.
lefey: (059)

[personal profile] lefey 2016-03-02 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
'Got to be quick on your feet around here,' she said as they entered the room with the booths. Somehow, it smelt more like metal and sorrow in here than in the hall, the sharp scent filling her nostrils as she sat aside the still separated pieces of her laser pistol to get a better look at the confessionals. Though that was more out of curiosity than an ability to decipher what was wrong with them, even with the information on her PDC.

'At least they don't seem to be possessed.' for now, at least. If there was any wood around, she'd touch it to avoid jinxing herself. 'There's not many booths in here... why are their identification numbers so large?' still, she went around squinting between her PDC and where the numbers ought to be, some of them had rusted a little, or the paint chipped. She frowned.
avemachina: (nobody loves me)

[personal profile] avemachina 2016-03-04 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Possessed? Root decides she likes that, though the only sign is a soft chuckle and lingering smirk. She moves to poke her head into the surging machine, keeping most of her body firmly outside the unit. She's not looking to get zapped.

"I'm more curious about why the one malfunctioning is the one they want us to save." What's so special that they'd rather feed it more power by decommissioning six other booths? By all accounts, the way this place works is usually by raw data and numbers, and 6 > 1. If there's an anomaly, Root hopes it's an exploitable one.
lefey: (083)

[personal profile] lefey 2016-03-15 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
'Someone probably gave a confession that would make the god himself blush,' she replied, rolling her eyes slightly. From what she had learned, the "computer" was just as happy to get you in trouble as drag you into this hell, so it was probably thrilled at the prospects.

'Secrets always lead to suffering, at least, most secrets and I can't imagine anything here would lead to joy.' Morgana looked at Root again, then at the booth, for a moment she sucked her lower lip between her teeth while she thought.

'I... don't... what would you like me to do?' she offered, knowing all too well that she was pretty useless in this place.
