Daycycle 18 [ JAN 26-30]
MORNING
Matt Farrell will be woken up at 0400 when a squad of Internal Security Gray Ops come to arrest Jason Wilcox for treason. He is led away at gunpoint and any requests for information will be denied by higher level officers, claiming it’s classified. Any digging done outside of sanctioned channels will reveal that he was believed to have been stealing medical equipment and supplies.
There is a new briefing officer in place this morning. She speaks in a sugary sweet voice and smiles often. Rumor has it she was on the execution squad that finished of the worst traitors in Death Leopard.
Troubleshooter Team: Parker and R. Lynch
Mission: These fine recruits need practice in small unit tactics. You will each have a team of three recruits and will lead them as they are pitted against each other in small unit tactical skirmishes. You’re units are to engage in three to five armed skirmishes against each other. You will take note of each recruit’s accuracy, obedience and courage under fire. Fill out these forms indicating each recruit’s performance and turn them in, along with surviving recruits, at the nearest Vulture Squadron barracks. The Troubleshooter with the most survivors will be awarded a credit reward.
All other Troubleshooters: You are to report to your Service Firm positions for the day, until called on for Troubleshooter duty.
Specials will remain in their temporary quarters until repairs are completed on their RED quarters.

Intel: Free Enterprise has begun manufacturing weapons for sale to the highest secret society bidders. Any information about these weapons should be reported immediately.
AFTERNOON
There is a high-level game of PowerGolf being held this afternoon in the Tech Services sub-sector Delta with many BLUE and VIOLET clearance citizens. The game will be broadcast across the Complex. Rumor has it that Free Enterprise will offer any citizen the ability to place bets on the outcome. Increased security is apparent and all RED Troubleshooters will be pulled to work crowd control and police the game.
EVENING
The Alpha City Library is hosting a special reading of it’s high-clearance level novels this evening in a desperate attempt to attract interest and sponsorship from the Alpha Complex masses. The book chosen is so notoriously racy that it has been forbidden to most clearance levels for nearly a decade. There is a small fee to attend, but drinks and food will be provided.
Sleep aid gas will be expelled into the barracks this evening at 2100.
for dick grayson!
her phone in hand ready to send the message, root's unaware she's being watched by another member of the society. she pauses near a secured server closet, contemplating the next 14 minutes she could use to potentially save a bunch of citizens from using up their clones. or to move herself to a safe location and see if nameless will live up to their threat.
13 minutes.
decisions, decisions... ]
Re: for dick grayson!
The tricky part is locating the initiate herself, that's the only information he couldn't manage to get hold of, but he heads down to the tech sub-sector to take a look around and come up with a back up plan in case she's unsuccessful. It's there that he spots the woman who is obviously checking the place out (when you make a habit of casing places, it gets a little easier to spot other people doing the same). He watches her for a while, debating his course of action, before eventually sidling up to her and giving her a friendly grin.]
...Need a hand?
no subject
she turns to face him, returning her own smirk. ]
Usually I don't require praise, but I'll accept if you're offering.
no subject
[Well, that gave him a chuckle, and he nodded slightly to concede a well-made joke, but his expression soon turned serious]
I mean with the encryption [he's keeping his voice low to avoid anybody overhearing, there doesn't seem to be anybody around but you can't be too careful]
no subject
I don't know what you're talking about.
no subject
Look, I'm not the person who set the task, I just happen to know about it, and I don't want anybody to get hurt, okay? [still keeping his voice low, he holds up his hands, expression sincere]
no subject
[ root's eyes scan the milling crowds around them, her interest and concern intensifying. but only one of those feelings is genuine. ]
So, calling their bluff...?
no subject
Bad idea. They definitely mean business [They'd started trying to poison people with that gas before he'd even begun to try and stop it, he had absolutely no doubts that the bombs were real]
no subject
she's got 10 minutes. time for a few more personal questions: ]
When did you become a member?
no subject
[He doesn't blame her for questioning him, this place breeds paranoia and when you're in the middle of a test, you never know what's part of it]
About a week and a half ago.
no subject
And you already care about all these people? We're not even supposed to be here. Most of them hate us.
no subject
[He shakes his head slightly, he can sort of see what she's getting at but he just can't understand how someone can think like that, he's been committed to saving lives since he was nine, the thought of willingly endangering anybody was alien to him - but then, he had been trained by the person who refused to kill the Joker even after everything he'd done]
Whatever I think of this place, whatever those people think of me, they're still people, I can't just let them die if there's something I can do to stop it.
no subject
[ this does make more sense. dick doesn't just care about systems, he cares about how the big ones affect people. ]
All they do is contribute to the situation keeping them right where they start.
no subject
If you believe what they say, we're clones too, and I don't know about you but I don't exactly want to die, I can't imagine any of them do either. Do you know for a fact that every single person who would die is contributing? There are probably children out there! I... have more reasons that you shouldn't just decide every single one of them deserves to die, but I'm not sure we have time. Are you able to break the encryption?
no subject
[ she holds her device close, letting dick see that the decrypted string is ready to send. she puts it into her jumpsuit pocket, where her hand stays with it. as best she can manage to keep dick from seeing, she hits the enter button and send the code off. ]
It doesn't take too long to get out of the blast zone, you know.
no subject
[He doesn't notice her hitting the button, after seeing that the code was ready he's looking up at her face in surprise]
You've had the code ready without sending it? Why? Were you just deciding whether or not those people deserved to die?
[At her other comment, he shakes his head] I'm not going anywhere until I know those people are safe.
no subject
Deserve? In that case, I think I deserve something for not letting all these people use up one of their clones. Because ethically speaking, I'm not actually responsible for this anyway.
no subject
All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. Or in this case, women. You might not be the killer, but if you have the opportunity to save people and you don't, you're helping them.
[He pauses, thinking about it, he's not sure he's getting through to her with morality alone so he tries a different track]
What would you want? In return for sending the code? I can try and get it for you.
if she shouldn't know this, lmk and i'll rewrite <3
You work in Tech Support, right?
Nah that's cool ^^
..I do yea, what do you need me to do? [He hopes it's actually within his power, sometimes he forgets how different life here is to home, it's a little difficult to get up to his usual tricks without Batman bankrolling it]
no subject
[ that's pretty simple and innocent, right? ]
no subject
[It takes him a moment to think about it, he knows they're on a time limit and he can't be too picky. He has no idea what she wants with that information or what kind of mischief she can get up to with it, but he also can't think of anything too dangerous she might be able to do. When lives are at stake, the answer isn't hard]
Agreed. Now send the code.
no subject
[ she pulls her device back out, showing the sent message -- and hey look at that! three minutes to spare. he gets enough time to confirm before she starts to move away again, taking slow steps backwards. ]
Hope that hero complex doesn't get you into too much trouble later...
no subject
[He breathes out a sigh of relief on seeing the sent code, her words causing him to give her a wry smile]
It hasn't so far. [Well, that's wasn't strictly true, but he always got out of it]
