Daycycle 124 [January 29 - February 4]

daycycle 124

[Jan 29 - Feb 4]

[OOC Plotting for this Dacycle can be found here.]

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Specials will be selected for a mission today.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties.

At 0900, Allison Argent will be reassigned to Armed Forces' Very Special Forces firm under Steve Rogers.

At 1300, VIOLET judge Bethany Abbott will be discovered dead in her chambers. Her death will ultimately be ruled murder by poisonous gas. Mind Control will immediately begin running coverage on her accomplishments, including the controversial decision less than a week ago to drop the treason charges against Oliver Queen and Parker and return them to Alpha. Once again, the letters "MOD" will be found at the crime scene. This time carved across Abbott's desk underneath her slumped body.

Gracie Cannell will be pulled from her blog to cover the breaking news due to her Special status.
News of the murder will spread like wildfire across Alpha, inciting fear in higher clearance citizens because VIOLET citizens were believed to be untouchable. In lower clearance citizens, the event will be enough to get ASS vocal again. Within hours there will be anti-special messages spray painted across Alpha.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1800 in the Wagon Wheel, floor 25, Room H and will be held by the Extreme Ironing Club. This group is for those Alpha citizens who can't get their uniforms wrinkle-free enough. (Though anyone who may attend this incredibly boring sounding meeting, will actually find an established Free Enterprise dice game in progress instead.)

During the dinner rush, at 1900 a group of twenty ASS members in masks and armed with steel bars will form a brief demonstration in the Commissary in which they chant "Down with Specials." If there happens to be any Specials present in the Commissary at that time, they will attack them with malice.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

"But how do you have magic here," Matt responds. Yeah, he'd had that burst of his abilities, but he doesn't know what happened or how. Maybe Zee will have some answers for him that will help him get back his senses all the time rather than in inconvenient bursts. "I do appreciate the save," he says belatedly. He doesn't mean to sound ungrateful; he's really not, he just wants to know more.

It's amazing what a person can become jaded to. In this case, it's a good thing because melting down isn't an option that's going to turn out well for her or anyone else. He only hopes that everyone holds up as well as Zee seems to have. "it's okay. We'll figure it out," he assures her despite not knowing how they're going to figure it out.

No, he can't see that look and he can't even sense it as his senses are now dull human senses. "I know," he tells her and he does because he's feeling every ache and pain, bruise and cut right now. "But it can't be comfortable or good for you to hang upside down that way.

He holds his breath a bit, hoping that whatever she's doing will work, but when it doesn't and she addresses climbing on his back again, he lets that breath out. He's pretty sure he's cracked a rib because it hurts to breath, not to mention what her legs wrapped around his body is doing. "Pick a side, hang on tighter with that leg and let me know which one you pick. I'll try to push and pull while you try to sort of scramble up. It's going to hurt--" both of us he thinks, "but I don't think this is any better and if we don't know how long we're going to be up here..." Letting her back down into that mob isn't an option either as far as Matt is concerned. As for whether she's hurting him: "I'll be okay. I've had it worse," he assures her.

"I don't know," she admits. "Mostly, I don't. That's only the second time since I got here that I've been able to do my spells and get actual results." The other time had been in the failing mission with Prim. She still can't quite work out the connection, but she's going to be sure to mention it to Alcide when she sees him next — God, she hopes he's okay... — so that maybe they can work out the puzzle together. Two heads are always better than one, after all, right? To his gratitude, she laughs a little breathlessly. "Hey, what kind of crappy superhero would I be if I didn't save people once in a while? You're welcome."

He is right about one thing: it's horribly uncomfortable to hang upside down. Zatanna whispers the spell to let them down again. Still nothing happens. "It's not, but I'm just...saying, I don't know that I have the strength left in me to do any more than just...hold on. I guess I can try?"

His answer of whether she's hurting him is hardly a satisfactory one; she knows what that translates to. "Sorry," she says and sounds genuinely apologetic at it. She doesn't mean to hurt him. The whole point of sending him up here was to keep him from getting hurt worse than he already had appeared to be, but here she is, hanging on him like a sloth or something. "Okay, right side," she decides and follows his instruction by tightening her hold with her left leg a little. "On the count of three."

Matt considers that. If he knew about the mission, he would probably ask if they were inside the complex or on the outer edges of it. He has some theories , but he doesn't know if any of them are even close to right. He doesn't know Alcide so he's got no idea that anyone is working on theories of what's going on with their powers outside of Barry. He can't help but smile at her reaction to his gratitude. "Well we can't have that," he jokes with her in return.

"I know, and that's what worries me." She's not going to regain strength holding on and if she can't get on his back, he'll come up with something else, like unzipping the top part of his jumpsuit and using the sleeves to tie Zee to his body so that she'll be able to rest a little.

Well, he hadn't wanted to lie to her and she probably would have recognized a lie or at least eventually recognize the signs of pain. He shakes his head. "Nope. You saved me, remember? Just focus on that." He nods. When she tightens her hold on the left side, he tightens his hold on her on the right side. On three, he pulls with his right arm, teeth grit against the pain of exerting that much strength; he pushes her left hip to help her shift her weight to the right side and up, he hopes, onto his back.

"Yeah, well it does kind of warrant an apology anyway…" Zee points out. Given the fact that she's rescued him, sure, only to hurt him in the process of rescuing herself.

It hurts like crazy, but Zatanna manages to, with Matt's help, hoist herself up onto his back where she lays still, panting and trying to choke back sounds of agony when the pain washes over her. She's whispering the spell again as the protesters below start to scatter. Zee isn't sure whether it's because they've given up, unable to reach she and Matt, or for some other reason, but she keeps whisper-chanting the spell to set them down. It's got to work eventually, right?

A moment later, her persistence is rewarded as his body starts to turn a little in the air so that his feet are facing the floor. Zatanna drops off his back when he's about halfway there and a few seconds later, Matt has floated safely back to the floor. Zee takes his arm. "Come on, let me get you out of here before it gets crazy again. You need to go to medical."

"it's okay," he reassures her, even though there is a good deal of pain in his voice. She did rescue him and he knows she's not trying to hurt him. That absolves her of a lot in his mind.

Besides, she's hurting too. While she crawls onto his back, Matt keeps his teeth grit, pain throbbing through his body. It's bearable because he remembers what it was like back home with all of his senses on fire and an awareness of every single injury. Right now, it's one blur of pain and he can handle a blur of pain. Once she's up there on his back, the pain subsides a little. His breathing is labored as well. He tries to slow it, to pace it, to make it normal. He remembers meditation too and while he's fairly sure it would be impossible to meditate right now, he can use some of the breathing techniques. Her whispered chant is soothing in a way.

He's surprised when the spell works; magic isn't supposed to work here. On top of that, she's been chanting the spell over and over again without any result. He's also surprised by Zee's control, by the way he floats so gently to the ground. He's hurt and stunned enough that when she takes his arm, he lets her lead him out. He starts to argue, but now that he's back on the ground, carrying his own weight it's more apparent than ever how much he hurts.

"Yeah...I think that--I think that would be good."
