Daycycle 122 [ January 15 - January 21]

daycycle 122

[Jan 15 - Jan 21]

[OOC Plotting for this Dacycle can be found here.]

Early, Early Morning [0200 - 0400]
At approximately 0200, several explosive devices planted in Technical Services by PURGE will detonate, damaging several memobanks. In a rush to prepare for the morning upload several Technicians will mistakenly put the wrong memories in the wrong banks. They will catch their mistake before the final upload, but as a result several memories will now be shared across different alpha citizens' consciousnesses. These memories will be experienced as dreams and characters will retain knowledge of them when they wake.

Memory Swap Pairs
  • Adam Parrish - Derek Hale
  • Zatanna Zatara - Oliver Queen
  • Steve Rogers - Ronan Lynch
  • Katniss Everdeen - Matt Murdock
  • Morgana LeFey - Tony Stark
  • Clint Barton - Allison Argent
  • Isabelle Lightwood - Lydia Martin
  • Buffy Summers - Barry Allen
  • Emma Swan - Parker
  • Cisco Ramon - Gracie Cannell
  • Natasha Romanoff - Jack Harkness
  • Primrose Everdeen - Alcide Herveaux

Room 1101 will be woken up at 1200 when a squadron of Internal Security Gray Ops come to arrest Bucky Barnes for treason. He will be led away at gun point and his roommates, Ronan Lynch, Adam Parrish and Oliver Queen will be immediately taken into IntSec for questioning. They will be questioned about the activities of their former roommate for several hours before being sedated and returned to their room before 0500. Bucky's roommates will not remember his arrest or their questioning when they wake, though they may feel the lingering active effects of the sedative for several hours into their day.

The memory of Bucky Barnes having ever been present in Alpha will be erased with varying degrees of success from all those he came into contact with.

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Specials will be selected for a mission today.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties.

At 0900 it will be discovered that the shooter from Steve Roger's assassination attempt has, ironically, been assassinated along with her guards in Armed Forces the night before. The letters mod will be left written in the shooter's blood along her cell wall.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1900 in the Commissary and will be overseen by Clint Barton. Izzy Lightwood from Medical Services has been assigned to assist him in giving a demonstration on basic first aid and wound care.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

Forging a life in spite of everything that Alpha throws at them. That's something that Katniss is doing now without even realizing it. It's not something that she wants to do; forging a life is dangerous because suddenly, you have so much more to lose. She shouldn't be doing this. She shouldn't let herself any moments of happiness. Katniss knows better.

And from all accounts of those nightmares last night, the man standing in front of her should know better too.

She scowls at his comment. Something odd happened to both of them but that doesn't mean she actually wants to discuss it. Her frown deepens when he tilts his head. She recognizes that gesture. It's one she's done herself when listening for prey during her hunts. Is he expecting someone to approach? Or making sure no one does? Either way, Katniss is feeling more and more certain that she doesn't want to be here.

"So?"

It's not easy to do, but it's necessary. If they don't forge lives than they're really not doing anything except what the Computer wants them to do. They're just...cogs in some machine. Matt wants to be more than that. Forging a life is dangerous, but not doing anything with your life, that's a waste.

Maybe he should, but he's trying to have a life anyway.

He can't see that scowl but he can practically feel it. No, he's not expecting anyone, but he's trying to make sure that he hears them before they get there if they do approach.

"I saw...what I think are your...glitches last night and I could see them."

She's already done that, hasn't she? Been a cog in someone's machine. Been a piece in their games. That hadn't turned out well. But trying to have a life more than what had been expected of her had only seemed to make things worse. Will it be the same here? The Computer is still toying with them despite expecting all the Specials to set a specific example for the rest of Alpha. It doesn't seem like matters would be any different.

"Memories," Katniss insists angrily. If she starts calling them glitches again, she might try to once against convince herself none of those memories were real. That wouldn't be fair to Prim. "They were memories and they're none of your business."

She can't easily take her anger out on the Computer without jeopardizing Prim's safety. It's much easier to yell at Matt.

In some ways (ways that are much more subtle) they're all pieces in some sort of game. That's a very cynical and philosophic way to look at it; one that Matt prefers to avoid. He doesn't expect that anything will really be better in this place, but he knows that there can be good things about this place.

Yeah, he knows they're memories. He's got them as well, but he also knows that saying things like that can get a person in trouble here. "I know that," he tells her quietly, not giving into his own anger or ruffling at her anger. She's got a right to be angry, after all. They all do, but that anger wont' actually do them any good. "I didn't get a choice in that, just like you didn't get a choice in seeing what you saw." He has no idea which memories of his she saw, but he doubts they were good. After all, the Computer doesn't give them nice things.

She can yell all she likes. Eventually, he might even react to it, but he'll try not. Seeing someone in a GREEN jumpsuit have at someone in a RED jumpsuit won't help him garner trust from anyone and he needs trust from Specials (and Alphas if possible) in order to make any difference here.

It had been easy to give in to her own anger. If the violence she saw in Matt's memories is any indication, then he can give into his anger just as easily. But she remembers those two words he uttered to the other man in the dreams. No killing. She doesn't know what the man saw of her own memories but given how many deaths she's responsible for, he must have seen her take at least one life. He should be scolding her like he had scolded the man. He shouldn't be this calm.

Her hands ball into fists. Matt's clearly a better person than she is (most people are) and right now, this isn't a reminder she wants. She wants him to react or glower at her or do something to indicate that he's just as angry about this situation. Angry at her for seeing things she never should have. Instead, he just reminds her that neither have a choice.

"And you're just okay with that?"
preemptiveforgiveness: (What?)

[personal profile] preemptiveforgiveness 2017-02-08 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Matt has a temper and he loses it often, but he doesn't see a point in taking his anger out on Katniss. If he's going to give into his temper, it's going to be on inanimate objects like a punching bag or his apartment or someone who deserves it. The fact that there's no one person to take this out on means he's more likely to head to the gym later.

No, he's not a better person. He's just had a lot of years to learn to control himself. He's very angry about the situation, but not at her.

"Of course I'm not," he tells her. "But you didn't do this to me so there's no point in being angry you."

Inanimate objects never held the same appeal to her. There weren't any gyms in District 12 where she could work out her frustrations. Nor had there been many people who had actually deserve it. Her mother had but violence against her mother wouldn't have helped the Everdeens's situation after the mine collapsed. Nor would it have helped anything to attack anyone else in District 12. That would have only brought attention to herself.

She only truly struck back during the Games and uprising. Killing Marvel after he had killed Rue had felt good. Bringing down the bombers that attacked the hospital in 7 had also been, in part, an act of vengeance. Then, it had been easy. Here, with those two years far too recent in her memory, it's still easy. She hates this invasion of privacy. And it's easy to extend that hate towards the stranger in front of her right now.

Especially considering he keeps remaining so calm.

"You should be," Katniss insists. "I saw - felt - things that should be private. You should hate me for that."
