Daycycle 122 [ January 15 - January 21]

daycycle 122

[Jan 15 - Jan 21]

[OOC Plotting for this Dacycle can be found here.]

Early, Early Morning [0200 - 0400]
At approximately 0200, several explosive devices planted in Technical Services by PURGE will detonate, damaging several memobanks. In a rush to prepare for the morning upload several Technicians will mistakenly put the wrong memories in the wrong banks. They will catch their mistake before the final upload, but as a result several memories will now be shared across different alpha citizens' consciousnesses. These memories will be experienced as dreams and characters will retain knowledge of them when they wake.

Memory Swap Pairs
  • Adam Parrish - Derek Hale
  • Zatanna Zatara - Oliver Queen
  • Steve Rogers - Ronan Lynch
  • Katniss Everdeen - Matt Murdock
  • Morgana LeFey - Tony Stark
  • Clint Barton - Allison Argent
  • Isabelle Lightwood - Lydia Martin
  • Buffy Summers - Barry Allen
  • Emma Swan - Parker
  • Cisco Ramon - Gracie Cannell
  • Natasha Romanoff - Jack Harkness
  • Primrose Everdeen - Alcide Herveaux

Room 1101 will be woken up at 1200 when a squadron of Internal Security Gray Ops come to arrest Bucky Barnes for treason. He will be led away at gun point and his roommates, Ronan Lynch, Adam Parrish and Oliver Queen will be immediately taken into IntSec for questioning. They will be questioned about the activities of their former roommate for several hours before being sedated and returned to their room before 0500. Bucky's roommates will not remember his arrest or their questioning when they wake, though they may feel the lingering active effects of the sedative for several hours into their day.

The memory of Bucky Barnes having ever been present in Alpha will be erased with varying degrees of success from all those he came into contact with.

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Specials will be selected for a mission today.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties.

At 0900 it will be discovered that the shooter from Steve Roger's assassination attempt has, ironically, been assassinated along with her guards in Armed Forces the night before. The letters mod will be left written in the shooter's blood along her cell wall.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1900 in the Commissary and will be overseen by Clint Barton. Izzy Lightwood from Medical Services has been assigned to assist him in giving a demonstration on basic first aid and wound care.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

It’s rare to see Steve inside his office. He doesn’t spend a lot of time here because they’re usually out on missions, but today, there’s a somber sense of quiet and a simmering frustration the closer you get to him.

Buffy works for Armed Forces, so she probably found out at least a little bit before the rest of the Complex, and even then, that early in the morning, the stack of papers on Steve’s desk are already piling up. People are constantly coming in to ask him questions and he’s asking for things in return.

“Buffy,” he says, only a little surprised to see her as he lifts his head up. “Please,” he says, motioning towards the chair that’s been pulled to the side of his desk. She can close the door too, if she’d like. And Steve doesn’t look terrible, it hasn’t been long enough yet, but his eyes had a fierce sense of determination in them when he first looked up. Like he doesn’t plan to ever stop working until he can figure this out.

Truth be told, he’d thought about pulling Buffy from patrol this morning, but with everything that’s happened, Steve figured it might be safer for the other Specials if she was standing watch over the Wagon Wheel. But she’d chosen to come here, to his office, instead.

“Why are you here? Is something wrong?”

The pile of paper this early in the morning is worrisome. She frowns, brow furrowing at the sight of them. It's very clear that she's both worried and disapproving.

She does close the door, thinking it might make Steve more apt to talk to her. She's not sure if his office is as closely monitored as the rest of the sector either. If it's not, closing the door could be a good thing. Once she takes a seat, she looks a little closer at Steve. She recognizes that determination because she's seen it in the mirror. She's been the person that didn't sleep until she figured something out. Honestly, until all of this tension between the specials and the alphas calms down, it's highly likely she won't sleep much. Thank the Powers that Be, she learned how to exist on four hours of sleep a long time ago.

She wouldn't have wanted to be pulled from patrol. At least, she feels like she's doing something when she's patrolling the 14th,15th and 16th floors.

"No," she assures him quickly. "I just heard about what happened and I wanted to see if you were okay. I was at the commissary this morning to get coffee and things are fine there." For now. "So...how not okay are you?" Because clearly he cant be okay.

Her assumptions are right in that Steve’s office offers a little more privacy than normal. Internal Security doesn’t have cameras or audio receivers in here, but ultimately, Armed Forces does. Nothing is supposed to be secret from the Computer, after all. But it’s better than being outside, that’s for certain.

Steve though, seems at least happy to hear that there’s nothing wrong on patrol. But when she asks that question, his previously strained smile because a real one.

“Buffy,” he says, chuckling once, “It’s possible that maybe you know me a little too well.”

He glances behind her, past the glass window in his door, out towards commotion that surrounds them. And then he looks back at Buffy.

“I’m waiting on a forensics report.” It’s the most important thread he’s pulling on at the moment, but he can’t tell her why, not here in his office. Not if the report confirms his suspicions. And Steve … well, his expression seems to be trying to communicate some of that in the way he looks at her, and how he subtly tilts his head as he speaks. There’s more he’s willing to say, but he can’t right now.

“I’ll feel better once I get the results.”

What do forensics reports say, Buffy? Reports on the injury, what substances are involved, how the victim died. But the most important detail to Steve that day, is one simple fact. Time of death.

He knows he’s not giving her a lot to go on here, but Steve already suspects that even if IntSec can’t be watching him, someone else might be. He doesn’t want to put Buffy in the crosshairs too.

She doesn't know if the lack of privacy is the worst thing in this place, but it's pretty high on the list.

Well, at least she got a good smile out of him. It makes her smile as well.

She shrugs. "I'm an observer. " Also, she kind of knows the type. She and Steve have a lot in common personality wise.

She nods a little as he speaks, trying to follow all the threads of everything he's not saying. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a lot of experience with forensic reports and she didn't watch a lot of crime TV in her spare time. His response gets another nod; she's clearly distracted and concentrating.

Yeah....she's starting to work that out, but she's not sure what results Steve could be waiting for that would have him on pins and needles. She looks at him, an 'oh' look dawning on her face only to have it dwarfed by concentration as she decides that's not it.

"Uhm...it takes a while for DNA evidence, doesn't it?"

Yeah, she's not getting it. Sorry, Steve.

That look of concentration on his face turns just a shade of hopeful when he sees Buffy’s look of realization — but then she takes it back. Steve didn’t even know you could take expressions back, but he just watched it happen.

It’s okay, he thinks. He shouldn’t drag her into this until he has a plan, anyways. And even then, he’s going to want to explain all the risks beforehand.

“Right,” he agrees, though he’d not hopeful on that point. Barry and Izzy had looked around, and there are a few things they want to test, but he has a feeling that whoever the shooter was didn’t leave much behind.

“In the meantime, I’m just tryin’ to make sure we follow up on every other lead possible. Something like this happens inside Armed Forces, and we need to know what happened.”

This used to be the safest sector. Now Steve thinks they might actually be working in the most dangerous one.

Apparently you can take an expression back. She didn't mean it, but...

She really should have watched more crime dramas. She will be one hundred percent in whether he's got a plan or not.

She hears that lack of hope and it makes her frown. "Do we know what time---and the security cameras, they should have caught something, right? We can ask to see the video. That should help and if the cameras were taken down...that tells us something, right?" Now she's thinking about the patrols she goes on at night when she should be sleeping.

Buffy is beginning to suspect that as well, but it doesn't change anything. She still wants to work here.

There’s a very specific moment in which Steve’s expression changes. He’s mostly nodding along when she mentions the cameras, he’s thought of that as well and put in the order, but when she mentions that if they find that the cameras were tampered with, and that that would tell us something, Steve looks up at her and nods very distinctly. He’s starting to hope again that maybe he can get this message across after all.

“That’s right.” Maybe he can communicate something else in the meantime as well. “Across most of Alpha, IntSec is charge of the surveillance. But not within Armed Forces. We do our own security, and we have higher standards. If something happens anywhere in our sector, it should be on tape.”

Anywhere, as in, including his office. Do you understand, Buffy?

Of course, if she doesn’t, he’ll tell her later. He trusts the Specials encrypted network to coordinate logistics, and once they’re in a more off-the-radar location, Steve will be able to speak much more openly.

Oh, she can't miss that nod and it dawns on her expression that he is trying to get something across. Her eyes grow wide and she feels a little sick because all she can think right now is inside job, inside job, inside job. Surely not one of the specials? She really hopes it's not one of the specials. It's bad enough that Buffy (and maybe Steve--if he's getting his message across) now thinks that someone they work with every day. She smooths a hand over her hair, tugging at the end of her ponytail when she reaches it then takes a deep breath. It's taking her too long to say something, if someone is listening so she starts word vomiting.

"Right. Exactly. So if you need someone to watch some video footage, let me know. Seriously, that was a life a Friday night with the guys...easy peasy japanesy and fun. Well, not fun in this case because murder, but you know like a crime drama with less detachment. Video watching. I'm your girl."

If Steve knew what she was thinking — he feels like he can just barely guess, but he really isn’t sure — he’d tell her that she has it half right. It is an inside job. But he doesn’t think it’s a Special. If the results come back the way he thinks, with scrubbed video footage, and the assassination timestamped at 01:00, Steve suspects the inside job is here, in Armed Forces, from someone of higher rank than him. And there’s a whole lot of complication tied into a suspicion like that.

Which is why, when the pause hits, and Buffy suddenly just starts talking, he realizes that she must have noticed something even if not everything. He goes along with it.

“Thank you Buffy. I’ll be sure to notify you when we get the security tapes back. Should be later today.”

And that sets them up to have another conversation inside the sector, without suspicion, if it comes to that. But Steve imagines that once he gets a little further, he can call a meeting someplace secure, like Specials HQ, and brief Buffy (and Allison too, soon) on what he thinks is going on. If they’re going to be on his team, he won’t hide anything about how dangerous of a position all of them might suddenly be in.
