Afternoon

The only thing worse than having a nightmare is having a nightmare that isn't your own.

The moment Natasha opened her eyes she knew that whatever she saw, it wasn't a dream. The way that it felt was too raw, too real, and she knows what it's like inside of her own head well enough to be able to differentiate between what's her own and what isn't. Wanda was nice enough to help her with that against her will.

She had visions, some of Jack, and some of Barry, who she now almost feels bad for teasing. She noted his bravery the day that he stayed back to fight with her and she got shot for him, but she chalked it up to him being a strong guy with a babyface. Turns out that it goes a little deeper than that, and although his particular ability is something that's still fairly new to her it's still something that she can understand; he reminds of of Pietro, in so many ways.

Seeing him like that, hate and tears; it makes her take him a little more seriously. Before he was just a reckless idiot with a good heart, but now she knows; that certainly wasn't his first battle. Her shoulder wound wasn't the worst thing he's ever seen, either.

She's planning on avoiding him throughout the day until there's whispers crawling through Free Enterprise that some moron is asking too many questions, and once someone identifies him as Barry Allen, Natasha has no choice but to go save him once again. It isn't hard to find him, all she has to do is track the two goons that were sent to question him in the first place, and by the time she spots the three of them she can see that the two FE 'associates' are quickly closing in. Before they manage to grab him and drag him into the next alley, however, Natasha catches up until she's striding behind them and she snaps her fingers once to get their attention.

"Leave. I've got this." They exchange glances with one another and although Nat has done a well enough job so far playing the defenseless small female card, she really doesn't have the patience for it today. She snaps coldly. "Did I stutter? Move out of my way." They don't move as much as they just stop walking, letting her walk past them to catch up to Barry herself before she grabs the man's wrist and drags him into the alleyway; a known blindspot to the cameras. She pushes him up against a wall with surprising strength, glancing around once to make sure they're alone before she finally lets go of him and meets his eyes.

God, he even looks different, after what she saw.

"Didn't anybody tell you not to ask questions that you don't want the answers to? We really have to stop meeting like this, if I get shot for you again I will not be a happy camper." Just because she knows certainly doesn't mean he's going to get special treatment. After a moment, the annoyance in her eyes fades away and she glances over him once. "You alright?"

Fine. A touch of special treatment, but only this once.
