If he was being honest, Alexander hadn't planned on bidding on anyone tonight. He doesn't keep up with the gossip or who the latest Specials are because he doesn't care. He's a self-made man. He worked hard, made connections, stayed on the beaten path, and now he runs half of IntSec. Deputy director, if you wanted to be so specific.

But just because he doesn't pay attention to gossip doesn't mean he doesn't pay attention to their files. There were two Specials he was interested in. Matt Murdock and Lydia Martin. The only two Specials, in his opinion, who have used their own skills to make something of themselves — and he can see Lydia's potential rising even higher.
