satnalahcsauoyekil: (anim ♠ i don't mind)

Zatanna is quiet for a moment, mulling that over.  Is it, though?  "Or...whoever started whatever happened that put the Computer into power in the first place was feeling especially Hitler-tastic about it.  Think about it...if the man — hic — or woman behind the curtain wants to stay there, why wouldn't they develop a bunch of mindless drones to retain the status — hic — quo?  We have no idea how high up the ladder this whole thing goes.  Maybe we really are clones and those "glitches" really are glitches, to their knowledge.  Maybe they don't understand how memories actually — hic — work because they don't, you know...have them."

That's giving these people and the Computer a lot of credit, of course, but it's worth discussing, she thinks.  Because if it wasn't intentional for the Specials to have those memories and yet they have them, then that sort of supports the hypothesis that their powers are still there, but repressed.  Maybe it's easier to trigger memories with experiences than it is to trigger abilities, and if that's the case, then it might have been entirely unintentional a side effect.  Maybe just their memories were supposed to have been repressed and they're all rightfully mutants, but something went wrong.  And maybe this goes up way above the people who "created" their clones, because maybe the people who had direct contact with the Specials upon awakening didn't actually realize what they were doing so much as they were following a protocol already in place.  In short, maybe if they can take out the man or woman behind the curtain, then they can turn this place on its head completely and not have riots on their hands; maybe the rest of the Alphas would want it...they just don't know that yet, because they're programmed not to think about those kinds of things.

After leaving her glass and following Alcide back to the dance floor, Zatanna smiles at his comment.  "That's cute," she says.  "I'm going to remember that and use it back home.  Wally would love it," she adds.  She looks back up at Alcide, another hiccup taking her over for a second before she speaks again.  "So we have a plan," she says.  "A three-fold one.  Now, it's just a matter of figuring out how to move forward to make the magic happen."  Three pieces, all equally important; the man behind the curtain, Medical, and overriding the Computer's programming.  It's time to figure out how to execute the plan, now.  Unfortunately, in Zee's experience, that's the hardest part.
