It's good that she's laughing, because that's the whole reason Alcide agreed to come to this thing. Zee wanted to come. Alcide wanted her to have a good time, where it feels like they're so rare in this place, at least from his perspective. Sure, a place can be what you make of it. But Alcide's still too new to have made anything of it yet. So getting Zee to laugh feels like such an accomplishment to him.

"I dunno if it's a good idea. But I'm gonna find out." You never know if you don't try, right? Alcide is going to try. He has to do something. And this seems like the safest way to do it and not draw attention to his roommates or friends, just to himself.

In that line of thinking, he quickly shakes his head. "No, let me do this, Zee. Derek's warned me about gettin' other people in trouble. I'm not gonna set out to do that. And maybe... maybe we'll find somethin' out that'll set us on the right path from here."
