Because she knows there's something going on there; she's just not sure exactly what it is. Her brow furrows a little and she glances around the room. "Why didn't you bring her? Not that I'm complaining about having a friend date, but I'm curious."

Buffy used to do beers and drinks with her friends sometimes. They just never had much effect. She's got no real idea of how one or two will affect her. It probably is better. They can keep each other from embarrassing themselves or feeling really horrible in the morning.

Fair enough. The real appeal of gaining clearance levels is the real food that they get. Buffy will definitely come back for seconds. She's not big on stuffing herself silly, but this will be an exception.
