That's the point in trying to work up in the ranks. He hopes he can do more as a higher rank than as a RED. He knows higher ranks have more pull in the system. Of course, there are personal perks as well, perks that Lydia is very well aware of.

The problem is that Matt doesn't think he's done a good job. He's still trying to do a good job. That Lydia believes in him is worth a lot though. It helps on days when he's particularly low about the things he hasn't done. "I'm grateful we're both getting more resources." He figures that's a point they can both agree on.

The chaste kiss has him tilting his cheek into it, but then she's whispering in his ear and talking about things they can't do in the commissary. A wicked grin curves across his face. He takes advantage of the vision implants that he's still struggling with to take in that smirk. He's also glad to hear it in her voice. That's more familiar, something he's more confident with. He leans in to whisper to her in return. "What are we waiting for?"
