It’s hard not to notice that she’s close to crying — especially when Morgana slides up right next to him after wiping away that last tear. Her eyes are still a little watery, and Steve honestly has no idea what to do. He’d like to help her not feel that way. But no one’s ever taught him how.
Maybe he should ask Natasha for advice. For anyone else, that might have been a terrible idea. But for him? Steve’s willing to risk it.
“Strength,” he answers. “Morgana, we haven’t talked about it much. Back home, I’m stronger than I am here.” Like that was possible for a normal human. It wasn’t.
“I could feel some of it returning that day, but only when I was close enough to him.” His mutant. “I haven’t felt anything like that since.” A pause, as Steve considers putting a hand on her shoulder, like he would if she was a man. But she isn’t. And Steve just- he was a little too old-fashioned to treat her as if she was.
“I don’t think your dreams will be coming back Morgana. Not unless you come into contact with a mutant again.”
