Lydia's vaguely aware of the punishments for treason, but not as acutely aware as Matt likely is. Back home, she was always good at getting into trouble without getting caught and managing to get herself back out of it before it mattered too much. Here, she's going in blind and hoping for the best, more often than not. But for now, she's playing it as safe as she can until it's time to bring the idea to Friend Computer and hope to hell she gets a green light.
"You'll need to stock up your pantry, for sure, then," she says with a playful lilt, and she likes the sound of that; being able to cook for him. She isn't really sure why, because it isn't like she's ever cooked for anyone other than herself or her mom, but maybe that's the reason in and of itself. She'd never say it out loud for fear of setting his doubts about their age gap back in motion, but the idea of cooking for him seems more...grown up.
Shaking her head, Lydia laughs. "Oh no, honey, if I want to keep this waist slim, I can't be living on takeout. I'll take the cooking bullet," she replies with a grin. A soft, amused hum follows and her eyebrows lift a little when he responds. "Uh huh, well it is now," she tells him.
Lydia can't decide if that surprise is a good thing when he first reacts to her offer, but she can tell that it is, in fact, a good thing when he continues. "Yeah, of course," she says easily. Reading aloud isn't her favorite thing to do and she's positive that the content will be boring, but if it means spending time with Matt, then Lydia's completely on board. Plus, she can't help preening a little when he says that he'd rather listen to her voice. "I would be happy to help you with that, Matt, just say when and where," she promises sincerely.
