It's weird having to work so closely on such a sensitive mission with someone Cisco has only just met. With Barry or maybe even Felicity, Cisco could've been instantly in sync. It's like the Computer wants them to fail...
Although, to his credit, Stiles does seem to be on the same page with him already, so that's promising. Cisco gets the impression that she's especially uncomfortable — rather than just marginally so — when he brings up her mutant ability, but she does respond, which means that at least he has a foot in the door. That's something. A part of him feels kind of bad, like he's taking advantage of the situation a little too much with the plan he wants to set in motion, but it is what it is. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
"I don't need to know," Cisco says, "I was mostly just curious. You don't have to tell us more if you aren't comfortable," he adds for clarity. The last thing he needs is for this line of questioning to backfire because she clams up entirely. "My thing worked on other people, too. It freaks people out knowing that kind of thing. I hid it from even my best friends for months," he empathized.
He looks over at Stiles, a little surprised, and wonders if metahumans are a thing where Stiles comes from, too. "People can be cruel," he agrees, frowning. There's a reason he hid his metahuman abilities for as long as he did once they started to crop up. He was worried how Caitlin and Barry would take it.
"You know, Gabi, I've got some glitches in my code, uh, but I keep thinking 'metahuman' instead of mutant. I mean, that sounds nicer, right? Metahuman. That sounds less intimidating. So I don't know where it came from," he says — lie. Total lie — "but let's just use that for now, yeah? Between the three of us?"
