"Good." She lets out a sigh of relief when he assures her fear. For a few seconds, Katniss visibly relaxes. The worry disappears from her face and her body softens against his. He's not injured. He's okay. She doesn't have to worry about him - at least not today.

Except that's exactly what she starts to do a second later. He falls quiet and that quiet contemplation starts to worry her. Normally he's a lot better with his words than she is. He's confident and caring and everything she doesn't consider herself. Wanting to reassure him, Katniss reaches for a free hand and entwines her fingers with his. She squeezes his hand, prompting him to tell her whatever it is he's not saying.

Except when he does talk, it's nothing that she expects. Katniss frowns, nearly scowling at the idea that something might be a dealbreaker for her. Scowling even more when he says he isn't human like she is. "Derek, I sleep beside you every night," she begins, blushing a little as she states the obvious. "I think I'd notice if you weren't human." He's human. As human as Peeta. As human as she is. It's ridiculous to think otherwise. But Derek seems to think otherwise. "What's a werewolf?"
