"I was only ever involved in one fight in my life. A fight between two other girls. I was trying to break it up and I got my hair pulled," she answers, leaning against the wall of the elevator as it starts up. "I was lucky before. I had a good life." She knows that and she misses that life, but there's nothing any of them can do to get back to their lives before this.
"You're welcome," she tells him but smiles a little sadly. "Yeah. I do. The first day I was here, one of the secret societies...Deaf Leopard or something....were shooting everything up. I cowered behind a bunch of boxes until someone came along to save me. It worked out okay, but now I've got a weapon and I can defend myself better than some of the people down there. I don't want to be the girl cowering in a room safe when other people aren't."
She smiles a little at his compliment. "Thank you." As for the rest of it, she gets it and she understands why he feels that way. Maybe if she had a less lethal weapon, she'd feel that way too but she doesn't want to kill people, even in self defense. She doesn't want that on her conscience.
"For what it's worth, I do think it's good we're fighting back," she tells him and she's not even going to object to people killing others in self defense. If they can carry that burden, then who is she to judge?
"Okay," she nods a little. She's honestly not sure how she'll process this later, but she'll try to keep his words in mind. "Be careful, okay?"
