daycycle 122

[Jan 15 - Jan 21]

[OOC Plotting for this Dacycle can be found here.]

Early, Early Morning [0200 - 0400]
At approximately 0200, several explosive devices planted in Technical Services by PURGE will detonate, damaging several memobanks. In a rush to prepare for the morning upload several Technicians will mistakenly put the wrong memories in the wrong banks. They will catch their mistake before the final upload, but as a result several memories will now be shared across different alpha citizens' consciousnesses. These memories will be experienced as dreams and characters will retain knowledge of them when they wake.

Memory Swap Pairs
  • Adam Parrish - Derek Hale
  • Zatanna Zatara - Oliver Queen
  • Steve Rogers - Ronan Lynch
  • Katniss Everdeen - Matt Murdock
  • Morgana LeFey - Tony Stark
  • Clint Barton - Allison Argent
  • Isabelle Lightwood - Lydia Martin
  • Buffy Summers - Barry Allen
  • Emma Swan - Parker
  • Cisco Ramon - Gracie Cannell
  • Natasha Romanoff - Jack Harkness
  • Primrose Everdeen - Alcide Herveaux

Room 1101 will be woken up at 1200 when a squadron of Internal Security Gray Ops come to arrest Bucky Barnes for treason. He will be led away at gun point and his roommates, Ronan Lynch, Adam Parrish and Oliver Queen will be immediately taken into IntSec for questioning. They will be questioned about the activities of their former roommate for several hours before being sedated and returned to their room before 0500. Bucky's roommates will not remember his arrest or their questioning when they wake, though they may feel the lingering active effects of the sedative for several hours into their day.

The memory of Bucky Barnes having ever been present in Alpha will be erased with varying degrees of success from all those he came into contact with.

Early Morning [0800 - 0900]All Troubleshooters Report for Duty

No Specials will be selected for a mission today.

Morning & Afternoon [0900 - 1600]Service Firm Positions
All Troubleshooters not assigned a mission should report to their Service Firm for their daily duties.

At 0900 it will be discovered that the shooter from Steve Roger's assassination attempt has, ironically, been assassinated along with her guards in Armed Forces the night before. The letters mod will be left written in the shooter's blood along her cell wall.

Evening [1600 - 2200]Citizen Improvement
All Alpha citizens are encouraged to better themselves through Alpha’s wide variety of educational, entertainment and cultural opportunities offered each evening. Attending these sanctioned events are not mandatory, but is highly encouraged by The Computer. Citizens choosing not to take advantage of these opportunities, have a growing number of other options available to them in how to spend their hard earned credits and free time.

Tonight’s event will be at 1900 in the Commissary and will be overseen by Clint Barton. Izzy Lightwood from Medical Services has been assigned to assist him in giving a demonstration on basic first aid and wound care.

Alpha Curfew Restrictions
All Alpha citizens should be in their quarters within the Wagon Wheel by 2200, unless they’ve been given permission from a GREEN or higher clearance level citizen. Sleeping Aid gas is dispelled each night in the Wagon Wheel at 2200 to assist citizens in getting a productive sleeping period.

Confession Booths
There are hundreds of confession booths available around Alpha Complex if a citizen would like to communicate directly with the computer. Please use these confession booths to report mission statuses, report treason or terrorist acts, unregistered mutants, confess your trespasses against Alpha Complex, request propaganda or speak with Your Friend, The Computer, at any time.

It’s a good story about the pistols. It’s just the right kind to tell in public, and after awhile, Steve doesn’t even know if Clint is really found a malfunctioning gun, or if he just made up something perfectly normal to deter suspicious ears from following them for too long.

And yeah, wherever Steve goes now people look. It’s been that way since the posters went up. Even more now after the assassination.

Steve doesn’t even flinch when Clint changes course. It’s naturally easy to just follow the person walking slightly in front of you, even if he’d been expecting to continue straight when Clint turns. If they weren’t underground in a surveillance-crazed bunker, he’d ask Clint where they’re going. But they are, so he doesn’t ask. He just follows, trusting that wherever they end up, it’ll explain why Clint wanted to meet.

Oh, he had found a malfunctioning gun - several, in fact. But that's what his job does, is find the glitches and flaws in the weapons, and test them to make sure they won't fail in the field.

It's a job that gives him some... other advantages.

Clint keeps moving, not hurrying or otherwise acting at all suspicious, being very used to keeping his feelings and intentions masked and not giving anything away. Steve knows enough of the spy game to not make a big deal about it, which Clint is grateful for, because after awhile they're definitely not in an observed area. It's too run down, too dilapidated, to be anything active, and at that point Clint turns back to Steve and gives him a focused look of "follow me" without saying a word. No one's around, or even in the area, and their casual walk off the grid shouldn't trigger any alarms - they'll be done soon. Clint turns and slips into a corridor that's almost too small for a supersoldier (sorry Steve), silencing his steps even in the heavy boots so as not to draw attention to anyone being where they shouldn't be. There's a couple more minutes of twists and turns in what is probably a set of disused service corridors, but they eventually come to a small closet where Clint kneels to draw a small roll of fabric from the rolled-up cuff of his jumpsuit. He opens it in his hand to reveal a few wires bent into odd shapes - improvised lockpicks.

"Gotta move this stuff, there's too much of it here now." Selecting two of the picks, he inserts them into the lock and has it open within a few moments, standing and opening the door to reveal a stack of small battered boxes. "Think you can take a few? If they find it, they're gonna start looking for a smuggling operation, not just think it's a lone dissenter."

He’s grateful at least, for what Clint and Natasha and his own SHIELD training had taught him about covert operations, even if Steve isn’t built to be a spy. It’s always proved useful in moments like this.

That clear look from Clint reaffirms that there’s a purpose to this, so Steve continues to follow, even when the turn into one particular corridor has his chest is pressed against both walls and he has to squeeze through.

They get what looks like a closet and when Clint kneels down to start working on the lock, Steve automatically turns away, to keep watch.

“Too much of what, exactly?” But soon enough, the door opens and Steve’s focus shifts back to Clint and the tower of boxes. He slides just one box out at first, and opens it to see what’s inside.

Steve, you are too damn big. Stop that now.

The boxes are cheap, basically Alpha's equivalent to the substandard cardboard shipping boxes they have back home, with labels stuck haphazardly on the sides stating they contain things like "Jumpsuit Snaps" and "Spare Boot Soles" - things that no one in their right mind would have any interest in. The disguise of this drop point is as storage for unused pieces of minor clothing repair materials; so far, either the place hasn't been discovered at all or the disguise is holding up.

Because the box Steve picks up is actually full of spools of thread, in all the colors of the rainbow, but a couple down is one Clint pulls out himself and opens - and it's full of weapons. Mostly disassembled, so it can all fit in the not-so-big box, but obviously things that can cause grievous bodily harm to others. "I'm not gonna stand for not having a way to defend myself if something goes wrong, or a way to break out of here if we have to, and we can't do any of that if we're not armed." He pulls out two of the cartons and pushes them over to the side, replaces the one Steve's got with two more, piling the dummy boxes over the one left on the bottom before closing the door again. "Not all of us can use weapons, but those of us who can can take care of the ones who can't. Not that there's that many of them, I don't think. We've just gotta be careful not to get caught with any of this, and I wanna put it all in HQ so more people have access to it all if we need it."

He can’t help it Clint. It’s not his fault the serum decided that a large body is the personification of his inner idealism.

The spools of thread intrigue him for just a moment, as he wonders if these are for Natasha. Thin wires are her style, after all. But when Clint pulls out a specific box and opens the top to show him the disassembled weapons inside, Steve glances over them and nods. He knows Clint’s right. The day will come when they need to fight, and he knows that soldiers can’t go weaponless into a war.

“Have any bows come through Weapons Assessment?” Because yes, he’s on board with Clint’s plan, but he also knows that despite how versatile Clint is, the man clearly has a preference. “We have some in Very Special Forces.” And yeah, Captain America is offering to smuggle it out for you.

Maybe it's not his fault, but still. Stop it.

No, the thread is just thread - not strong enough to choke a person, at least not with just one strand of it. A few of them banded or braided together might suffice, but there's better options elsewhere, like actual wires. He was able to steal enough to make a set of lockpicks; an actual garrotte isn't really a stretch after that.

"A few, yeah. Too big to take out, but I've got some plans. Also they don't break down in a way that's helpful for hiding stuff, so I'm trying to steer them in that direction with my notes about what they send me to test. There's a few in the firing ranges that I can get at in an emergency, and I've got some other plans." Wrist crossbows. He had one at home, he can have one here. So much easier to hide, and always possible to coat the tip of the dart in sedatives. But if a huge emergency does happen, Clint's fully prepared to simply break into the ranges in the Armed Forces sector and take any weapons he can. Wouldn't be the first time he's done it. He appreciates the unspoken offer though, Steve.

"Come on, let's get these stashed and I'll tell you where else I'm hiding things." Just in case something goes wrong.

"Yeah, alright" he says, grinning just ever so slightly. He's not surprised, not one bit, that Clint has spots like this, and probably plenty more all around the Complex. Of course Clint would.

More importantly to Steve however, is the fact that Clint has access to bows. Clint being assigned to Weapons on arrival had been a good thing — Steve's recognized that from the beginning. Very Special Forces is starting to collect Specials, and while that's a good way for Steve to help keep some of them safe, it also means that as a group, they lose access.

And the fruits of Clint's access are exactly what he's witnessing right now, isn't it?

With the boxes he's been given securely in hand, he follows Clint back the way they came. Whenever they get back to that particularly narrow corridor, Steve's going to have to slide the boxes through first, since he could barely fit just on his own, but it shouldn't be a problem.
