Lydia's brow creases with initial confusion before she realizes what he's saying. He's just avoiding the curse word, but once she recognizes that, she knows what he's trying to say. "No?" she prompts when he's quiet for a moment after.

When Steve asks for her hand, Lydia doesn't hesitate. She's curious, of course, but she trusts Steve. He's one of the few here that she knows she can trust. Unless they alter him somehow without his permission, he's always going to be someone that the Specials can all rely on, whether they know it or not.
