It is a good sign. He’s definitely not upset, and even if he is flustered, it’s only a little bit. Because no matter how hard Steve tries, or maybe the problem is that he’s not trying, he can’t quite adjust to certain parts of modern culture. He’s a little old-fashioned, and probably more conservative than normal, even in his own time, but it’s not something Lydia needs to worry about, not today.
“I really do,” he says, nodding. And while he can’t really give her any cinematic advice, because Steve honestly has no idea what’s even possible or how that all works, he can give her one piece of general feedback. At least from his perspective.
“You know how Allison and I shot a few quick scenes together? One a few seconds, but Gracie probably still has ‘em. I think it’d add something, if people got to see both of us in both commercials. That way if they only catch one, they’ll still know you sell soaps for men and women.”
