The entire arrangement Bucky had agreed to over the phone should have set off alarms and concern. But Bucky had had three full days of trying to adjust to life with one arm, and now the provided prosthetic he had been reluctant to use was damaged as well, and nearly beyond use. He had had enough issues adjusting to the shift in dynamics in his life, after his time in Hydra's torture labs, adjusting to also being broken physically was too much.

So he jumped at the opportunity offered by a stranger with a familiar and comfortable candor. A group that spoke to him like a soldier and offered him a solution to his arm troubles. It should have been a red flag, but he took the opportunity. It was a chance to learn more about the complex, and a potential opportunity to at least look like a whole person again.

He followed every instruction to the line, and although it meant going without a PDC for an undetermined amount of time, he had no need for it for a while. The time leading up to the surgery was a fog in his mind, but he still knew where he was when the sedatives started to wear off, and he fought to wake up faster than the lingering medicine allowed.

He tried to sit up when it became possible, but he did not immediately try to use or look at his arm. He could feel a cold touch and a weight to his shoulder, but that could have easily been a phantom feeling, as well. He wasn't ready to look at what he had agreed to, yet. He wasn't dead. That was a sign positive enough for the moment.

"How did it go?" He tried for a light bit of humour but it was too hard to grasp at anything humorous to say, so he settled for trying to direct his focus on anyone still in the room.
